Retaliation - Zapp - 02-01-2009 ' Wrote: Myers watched the news video run as the LPI Leavenworth flew circles around Fort Bush, surveying the damage. He was deathly quiet, and the crew on the bridge stepped softly and whispered. Even the consoles seemed to be muted. His hand was on his chin, the holoprojector that was playing the news off to the side. Even John Clements, current CO of the Leavenworth and close friend of the Chief, was standing off to the side, introspecting. Finally, Myers whispered in a low, threatening voice, "147." The man was large. He was jovial, usually. Known to slap a few backs and have a good laugh, even with the lowest coffee boy. It was the times when he was upset that he was known for being fierce, unmovable. An implacable foe. In his first tenure as Chief, crime had been at an all-time low in LPI history, the two prison stations Huntsville and Sugarland exceeding quotas each month. While most criminals consider him a buffoon, they know not to underestimate him. Which made this blow all the harder. Fort Bush, the LPI's main station in New York, was bombed. Now, it was time to address the officers, and get the scumbags that did this in prison where they belong. Or thrown out an airlock. No one would have to know. Retaliation - pieguy259 - 02-01-2009 Springfield Station, Illinois System Andrea watched the news in horror from her... hospital bed. She'd taken a rather nasty fall down the stairs and broken her leg, which was now in traction. Rather embarrassing, really. Her Arrow was down in the docking bay, gathering dust. Regardless, she was horrified. Retaliation - hack - 02-01-2009 Planet Houston, The Long Arm of the Law Bar, Dallas Sector Hull O'Brian watched the CNS feed in quiet contemplation. He had just been to Fort Bush not 4 hours ago. He had changed into his civilian clothes and taken out an unmarked Liberator. His current assignment had the possibility of taking him outside of Liberty house space and he didn't want to raise any eyebrows. The News feed went on about the number of dead. 147? God, I just seen some of those people....... The dirtball that did this isn't going to see the inside of Huntsville or Sugarland if my guess is right. Retaliation - Bauer - 02-01-2009 Fort Bush, New York system Sargeant Jack Bauer was thrown against the corridor wall as the explosion shook the station. The lights flickered on and off as sirens wailed down the corridors. He got up and made his way to the nearest emergency rendezvous point. Medical teams swarmed everywhere moving the wounded... and the dead. He tried to go to the civilian hangar to see if his brother and his ships were okay, but was told to stay in the room by the LPI security. He looked up at the screens to see CNS news reports about the explosion. A bombing..., he thought, and 147 dead... luckily the explosion didn't hit the civilian hangar. About an hour later, when he was allowed to leave, he took a shuttle to the Leavenworth, ready to be addressed by the Chief. Retaliation - baivan - 02-01-2009 Somehwere far away from Liberty space,on a piece of rock floating trough space, deep below the surface,a female person was smocking a cigarette. She turned the com on,waited for while her ID-code to be accepted. The com`s light switched to green: "So,after all they did it"- Said the woman with a note of irony in her voice. "Could this be a problem" -the voice from the com was mechanical, giving no clue who was behind it. "It might be.Its too early to say" "We cannot allow urselfs to cancel this operation.Proceed according to the plan." "And if it happens again?" "That will mean its already too late, and u know what that means" The com`s light switched to red.The voice was gone. Retaliation - Finn Aidan - 02-01-2009 Sitting in the bar at Buffalo Base, Finn watches the news report with a small smile.Turning to the gathered Blood Wolves. "Boys, I'm not positive who did that, but I'd sure as hell like to buy them a drink.... and a GC girl for that matter." Raising his glass of ale.... "For Liberty!!!" Retaliation - Tenacity - 02-01-2009 Aki Kimura sat alone at a table in the corner of the Toledo Lounge, staring blankly at the commscreen in the corner of the room as the newsflash came through reporting the bombing at Fort Bush. She sighed heavily and shook her head, mumbling to herself, "They always put the blame on us..." Of course, due to Order relations with Liberty there was no way to publicly state or prove that The Order wasnt at fault, such a statement would be ignored by any who received it, lost in their blind rage. Aki also got the distinct feeling that the bombing at Prison Station Fairbanks was a ruse by the LSF to draw someone, or something, out of hiding. Order pilots were under strict standing orders to never allow themselves to be captured, and while the possibility of capture still existed, Aki hadnt heard anything about Order personnel having gone missing in action within the past three months. One of the new recruits approached her table tentatively, knowing she was angry at what was being said over the news broadcast. "Ma'am... mind if I take a seat?" Aki shook her head, "We may not be called liberty but we still have a free bar, Ensign." She broke her gaze off from the screen and looked at him, "What's on your mind?" The pilot sat down, looked at the screen, then back to her, "How can they claim it was us? I know I'm still new here, but after all these years since the Nomad war how can Liberty continue to call us Terrorists? We saved them and everyone else... yet they slander us at every point?" He paused for a moment, "It wasnt us... was it?" Aki forced a slight smile, "Most people are unable to deal with a situation that is unexplainable, they throw blame on anyone they can just so they can handle the reality of what is happening in their lives. They know that in the past, we made similar attacks, though never so blindly and never with so many civilian casualties. We strive for precision operations, every civilian life lost is one too many." Aki looked back up at the screen, "I dont think it was us, though there is always the possibility that one of the rogue Order groups, Jade Squadron perhaps, did this to intentionally cause us more problems." She paused a moment, then stood up from the table and headed for the bar exit, "I'm going speak with High Command, perhaps some of our agents within Liberty know what caused this." Retaliation - jshkornmiller - 02-01-2009 Fredro Walks in to the office at Manhattan and sees everyone nose deep into the TV. he walks over and drops the box of Donuts and puts his palms to the sides of his head. Looking into the TV he sees that Fort Bush had been targeted to a Terrorist attack. the reports coming in of over a hundred people dead. His comrades in uniform, gone. Who could do such a thing he thought. Watching it more the reports said The Order. how could they do such a thing, those terrorists need to learn a lesson. "i will find them, and torture them for all eternity. no mercy shall be given to them.." Fredro walks back to his cubical and sits down turning on his Computer. He then begins to scan the Surveillance cameras from Fort Bush. in hopes of fining a small something of a hint. Retaliation - hack - 02-02-2009 Outside of Fort Bush Right after CNS had broken the story about Fort Bush being attacked, Captain Hull O'Brian received the recall notice on his personal comms unit. He had flown directly to Fort Bush just as fast as he could. There was still a large amount of rescue vehicles darting in and out of Dock 1. Dock 2 was out of commission due to the explosion. As he had approached Fort Bush, he received another communique. It was from the Chief. He wanted Hull to see if he could access the LPI hangar and ascertain how much of what was stored there was still usable. The LPI hangar was separate from the Civilian hangars. If you didn't have the police access code, you weren't getting in. It had been double shielded with battleship armor to make sure that it withstood an outside attack. Hull got permission to enter Dock 1. After he was inside, he input the code for the LPI Hangar. Much to his relief, the hangar doors opened and let him inside. The doors were a little dirty and scorched, but they still worked. Hull landed and got out of the unmarked Liberator. Things were in a bit of disarray were they had been knocked off of their shelves, but everything seemed to have survived. He then checked on the SWAT weapons storage. All were in good condition. O'Brain moved to the ship storage section. All of the stored ships were in good shape. The Folsom, the ADX Florence, the SWAT ships, and the unmarked ships. Hull made his report. He was told to standby, the Chief was going to address the troops. Retaliation - Zapp - 02-02-2009 On a door off the bridge of the Leavenworth was an office. Not really an office, for at the far end was a podium, cameras were all positioned facing it, and a few rows of chairs were set up. Each chair was full of LPI officers, mostly the higher-ranking ones. Myers waddled up the middle stretch of empty floor, nodding his head to no one in particular and slapping backs without ever getting close. He walked up the three steps to the podium, and squinted into the light that was being shined on him. Numerous microphones were in front of him, and the podium was bare of any notes or speech. He spoke spontaneously, and every LPI not on active duty saw the same image of Myers' head pop up on their screen. "As you know, Fort Bush was the target of a recent terrorist attack. A ship - Stinger class - was loaded with explosives and detonated. The reasons are unknown. The assailants are unknown. But one thing is known. We're going to find them sons of b****es, and we're gonna bury them so deep they won't know which way's up. "Times have been hard. We all know that. Where once we were on the verge of pushing the Xenos out of Colorado, where once the trade lanes in New York were the safest in Sirius, and where once scum like Hackers, Rogues, and Outcasts feared to tread on our turf, we are now in a dark time. Things will get worse before they get better. But, we have a resolve to make Liberty a safe place, for all. "The days to come will be difficult. Investigations will be launched. Suspects will be questioned. Evidence gathered. Perpetrators arrested. We can expect the pirates to perceive this as a time of weakness for us. One-hundred-and-forty-seven dead is nothing to sneeze at. We must reach down and find new reserves of resolve and energy. We will not allow this to bring us down, or affect the way we do our jobs. Need I remind you of what's at stake? The safety of Liberty! I expect a lot of you, but I know you can do it." Emphatic hand gestures accompanied the impassioned speech, and Myers stepped down from the podium. LPI screens around Liberty darkened. |
