Saltese.Smelter, Salvage Operations - Texas

Steve looked around the active scraping operations on the main deck. It was amazing to think that just three weeks ago the Saltese was just another depressurized ship floating mothballed near Vieques Shipyard. Steve waved at the foreman, Jack, and gestured to the ceiling, indicating that he was going up to the bridge. Entering a nearby elevator Steve was whisked to the highest deck of the salvager where he entered the bridge. Taking his seat in front of the console he fingers danced across the panel checking the ships status. A flashing red status light quickly drew his full attention. Leaning back and picking up a phone hanging nearby he punched the number 2 and waited a moment. ”Engineering Here” Charles’ voice easily breaking through the din of the engine room. "Charles it the Bridge what's going on with number 3?". Charles raised his voice as a new set of alarms were added to the noise. ”Looks like the primary coolant exchange on the whole starboard array is seized up, not a goddamn idea why” Steve groaned at the response, "So number 4 is gone to?" ”We might be able to try the secondary loop but that might only give ya maybe 30% power.” ”That's better than nothing” ”Look I told you we shoulda done a full overhaul” Steve cut him off. ”See what you can do, I’ll have Jack pack the boys back up and we’ll head in.” Steve hung up the phone and sighed, no one was ever happy being forced back to port with anything less than a full hold of scrap.

Steve watched with disinterest as various tools cut into the hulk floating in front of him. After over 4 years of working the fields there was little that could shake him anymore. The phone bolted to the wall next to him buzzed loudly. "Bridge here" Steve called into the phone after picking it up. ”Engineering here" Robs voice cutting over the various slams and bangs reverberating throughout the ship. ”Steve we gotta do something about this engine array. I'm your third chief in 5 years and you can't keep just replacing whoever brings you the bad news”. Steve frowned before starting to speak "Look we'll be back at Vieques at the end of the month, can we keep her pulled together for that long?" ”I can keep it together the question is when we get there if it will be glued or seized. It's gonna cost more than just shutting her down”. "Whatever, patch it for now we're to far from home to be limping around on half an array"
