Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Wesker - 05-30-2018 https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=161550&pid=2002470#pid2002470 In regards to this, I've been seeing a lot of fuss in lore related conversations on how house warship capabilites are way to equalized with that of unlawfuls. Now, obviously in lore houses are drastically superior. For example, people often live under the misconception that in lore the Hessians have a fleet that could challenge the federal government head on, when the reality it's FAR from true currently. Still, some people are shaken on how gameplay assets are equalized and this draws up a series of misconceptions. (Also with that in mind why the hell would Hispanic factions need more stuff? W/e) So what's the point of this little ramble and how do I propose we deal with it? Simple, give the houses MORE stuff. Instead of mitigating and removing things, and going backwards, move FORWARDS. BC's can be challenged ingame, battleships - dread or carrier - are no exception to the forces that can counter them from the unlawful side. Obviously this plummets the morale of many lawful factions trying to engage in cap warfare against their unlawful counterparts who often times in houses besides liberty, (and even sometimes IN liberty) draw up more forces. Cutting straight to the point, I'm going to just go ahead and say it. Is it time to introduce juggernauts? Missile frigates? I know it sounds wackey, maybe even balance impeding, but the concept of houses holstering the bigger; badder; meaner; warships that would be capable of wreaking havoc upon their counterparts seems kinda interesting too me. It would introduce a new challenge for unlawful factions to counteract, and would in turn - motivate more players to fly official lawfuls in places that lack them (and believe me, there ARE houses that lack them). The development team could take a precaution on just how many of them there are (ex: limiting them to the house official faction military), content drives this game from what I can see. If we have models that are able to be balanced and can add new opportunities to factions that need them (which the fuss currently seems to pin on house lawfuls) than they should probably be IN the game. From gameplay standpoint, it's motivating, I know it sort of sounds like appeasement, but I think throwing this bone would be worthwhile in comparison to adding smaller vessels that would otherwise just be adopted by unlawful factions. (Ex every defected cap ever) Back when cerberus turrets were nerfed in 4.87, the development team's platform for the decision was that capital ships needed more diversity. But diversity probably shouldn't just be limited to weapons, it should include the ships themselves, more so in lawful factions that have the power and time to construct them. This brings me to the lore standpoint, obviously titans of this size and power would require immense resources, so, this could provide roleplay opportunities to house lawfuls invested in giving their players more motivation by roleplaying the construction of these assets. Forcing factions to roleplay to set up ships of this size or power would be an interesting change, obviously this shouldn't be applied to the collective playerbase in regards to standard battleships/cruisers/gbs already in the game for server health reasons - but throwing this in might make for an interesting change. Before you all jump the gun and say I want this because I'm a cap lover/pvper/all i care about is gameplay crap lalalalala I don't actually fly capital ships anymore, this idea just struck me as something to consider. It's a chance to move forward with something more to drive server health, rather than clinging to, and repeatedly adjusting what we have to little satisfaction from the community from what I've seen. I really just want to see a colossal Bismarck double it's size RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Kalhmera - 05-30-2018 I think its a great Idea! RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Lythrilux - 05-30-2018 House factions can get more content. It's just everyone else who isn't allowed to. The idea is sound, I guess. RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Thunderer - 05-30-2018 I want a Xeno battleship PS: And Wesker is bad. Jorms aren't enough for him to successfully kill a POB any more. But no ban pls, I share some ships with him (again, stupid me) RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Chills - 05-30-2018 While I had the idea to limit battleships for unlawful factions only to the official factions of those and only a very few at that, this idea seems fine too. Limited, very controlled super dreadnoughts/ missle frigates for official factions of houses. Sounds fine. RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Sombs - 05-30-2018 I like the thinking of advancing on all levels instead of forcing brakes on other ambitions. Also Wesker is bad because there are plenty of PoBs I found in the Omegas today that haven't been sieged or have paid taxes. RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Wesker - 05-30-2018 If this gets enough up votes I could forward the thread to house leaders and then they could maybe begin making model requisitions. The development/Admin team's input would also be worthwhile as it is essentially what would determine if this gets in the game or not. RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - SMI-Great.Fox - 05-30-2018 I actually agree with Wesker on this proposal. We have been toning back on a lot of assets in game that can be used for all players, A missile frigate I can see being used a lot for Kusari and Liberty while Bretonia, Rheinland and Gallia focus more on heavier ship building as following their lores. Its kinda common sense here imo. RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Sand_Spider - 05-30-2018 In regards to missile frigates, it would be neat to see them utilizing both a mix of tracking missiles as well as capital ship sized Hellfires, and/or perhaps even explosive dumbfire missiles with extremely high speed. Capital sized Hellfires would probably be more practical however, since most dumbfire missiles tend to be nearly impossible to use the moment lag starts to happen. RE: Poll: Random stupid idea that will prolly be shut down but whatever. - Kazinsal - 05-30-2018 Missile frigates would be extremely my thing. Missiles in lore (and in a hypothetical space war reality) individually have a lower cost to kill ratio than building and maintaining fighters and pilots for them at the expense of an initial setup cost in the form of a questionably durable ship covered in missile launchers and point defense batteries. We would need to balance them with their own missile launcher class, especially because they would need to have ammo stacking (or be built around energy usage instead of ammunition, like the old days, but actually balanced these days) in order to be useful. But I'd be very interested in balancing and playing Space Guided Missile Artillery. |
