Processing - Reaver Company Inc. - 09-13-2006 Previous Chapters Chapter 1: Power Play Chapter 2: Implantation Chapter 3: Conditioning The man smiled brightly and with false cheer. "Good, your awake! We can begin the conditioning at once." Kato shivered. The man seemed normal, but his eyes were emotionless pools of liquid nitrogen. The man behind those eyes would not loose any sleep about splattering Kato brains all over the place. Kato decided to take Randals words to heart. "Follow me. You'll be given a brief introduction, then on to processing." The man in the coat motioned Kato to follow, and Kato gingerly picked himself off the table and stumbled over to the man. These new legs were very strange, yet Kato only felt slightly unused to them. Kato followed the man out the door and down a cold hallway. He could tell they were on a station, and whatever section of it they were in was cramped. Through the winding passages, until they got to a room. This room looked like a movie theatre, with a stage in front with a screen, and seats arrayed around it in a semi-circle. Five other mutants sat in some of the seats and one new Controller, making Kato the sixth mutant and apparently final member of the briefing. "Hello, muties. My name is Conditioner Marx, but you will call me by Sir. Sit down #84742." Kato sat in one of the seats, trying not to give them an excuse to activate the little beast in his head. "Continuing, I will be your head instructor. You will each have a personal Conditioner, who you will treat as if they were I. Clear?" Kato nodded. He couldn't see what the others did, but it seemed to appease Marx. "Good! Now, first of all you are now part of the SiN Tech Mutant Corps; STMC, for short. You will do what we ask, and you will be thankful." At this point in time, one of the other mutants spoke up. He was rather big, his skin grey, and his muscles attempting to rip the clothing right off his body. They were large, but for him they must have been very constricting. "Why should we?" The mutant challenged. "Sit down #9253." "Why should we be grateful? You're the ones who made us like this!" Marx sighed. "Yes, you were mutated by SiN Tech products. But if we didn't take you in, who would have? You would have been shunned by society, perhaps even murdered. This world is not ready to deal with your kind." "How do you know?" The mutant looked defiant. "Would you rather we left you? Would you like us to put you back? So you can what? Live off the streets like an animal, each day harder then the last?" "I'll take my chances." The mutant growled. He looked ready to charge Marx and rip him in two. "Darn." Marx sighed and just closed his eyes for a moment. The explosion took off the majority of the mutants head, spraying blood, brains and bone all over the briefing room. He looked like a puppet with its strings cut, falling limply to the ground with a sickeningly wet splat. "And that, my muties, is why it is very important you do as we say. Each of you has one of those, called a Spyder, in your head. If you cross us, we can command it to detonate. It can also be used to track your exact location, but only for short distances. But a signal for detonation I can send all the way to Old Earth. So don't defy us. I have your lifes in my hands at all times. Don't forget that." The mutants nodded mutely, still covered in gore. Marx smiled. "Excellent! Now that the preliminaries are over with, we can get to the heart of why you are here. Just listen to the sound of my voice." Quite suddenly, Marx's voice deepened and had a strange echo to it. Kato realized with a start that Marx must also be a mutant. "On the count of three, you will fall asleep. One, two, three, WAKE UP!" Kato nearly shot through the ceiling. Marx was standing over him, staring right at him. He gave a slight smile, his piercingly blue eyes boring right through Kato's. "Rise and shine, sleepy head. Briefing is over, time to get your bunk assigned and receive your schedule." Kato frowned for a moment, then all the information that Marx had told them came back, slowly so as not to overwhelm him. His team within the STMC would be entrusted with helping out the SiN Tech research base on Atka, where they were. They would aid in experiments, be allowed to conduct their own, and defend the labs should the need arise. Not only that, but Kato discovered that if SiN Tech didn't look after them, then they would surely be killed as soon as their mutations were discovered. Part of Kato's mind screamed out that this was brainwashing, that SiN Tech was using them, but it was overruled by the voice that said otherwise. What little bit of Kato as people knew him was now either bound or gone, the conditioning successful. He dully noticed that the body was removed and everything in the room cleaned up. Kato's Conditioner took him to a room and opened the door. Inside sat Randal. He looked up and gave a slight smile. "Glad to see you made it, Kato. How did it go?" Kato gave a little smile of his own. "It went well, actually. Only one guy resisted." Randal grimaced. "There's one in every group. Although I suppose it only ever takes one." Kato nodded. "Guess I get to work with you." Randal looked up and gave an actual smile. "Really now? Good! I've been waiting for a competent partner to help me. I suppose you're as good as they say the Uzumakis are?" "You could bet your life on it!" Whether Kato knew or not, his Controller smiled. Another one converted without any fuss. It was good to see things done efficiently, quietly. Oh sure, one of the new ones died, but that was normal. Sometimes there are two, and if you get a really bad bunch then you might only get two or three good ones. Such wasted potential. Randal gave Kato's controller a quick glance. He too was happy they got another one. Kato didn't know it, but Randal was his new controller. At least until the trial period was over. Then he would be the official supervisor, and then Subject 8472 would be one of them irreversibly. *** Subject: #8472; Kato Uzumaki Status: Preliminary Conditioning Successful Entering Trial Period Predictions For Subject: High Chance Of Success Possible Shadow Conditioner Material Document will be updated as needed Closing File *That's it for now. But was too tired to post. So.... That's my tribute to tired people. ;D Processing - Angel - 09-13-2006 I really dont want to run into any of these people, there crazy, and Spyder things explodeing In your skull,,, Erk...... Processing - Dab - 09-13-2006 And how do I go about buying one of those little Spyder things? I need to make an example of someone.. Processing - Reaver Company Inc. - 09-13-2006 Oh, you can buy 'em by the dozen. You could even make them yourself; it's not too complicated. However, to get them implanted you have to pay SiN Tech. You could make your own Spyder, which is a SiN Tech trademark by the way, but SiN Tech only installs their own. I would advise however, that you reserve the Spyder for keeping questionable associates in check. Offensive uses for the Spyder are somewhat, limited. |
