Forlorn just seems to have died because Sean realized "My God, what have I done?"
Towards the end of its existence, Forlorn was functionally BHG, but just better in every way in terms of tech allowances. Sean, confronted with this fact, probably just said "I'm supposed to set a good example; I'm an admin for Pete's sake," and shut it down before it got entirely out of hand.
That's my personal theory, anyway.

Things come and go. Forlorn Hope ran it's course. Sean decided to end it gracefully rather than let the faction painfully cling to life support for the sake of being official.
