The Principia Mathematica - Secret Intelligence Service - 07-31-2018

Location: Dorset, Cambridge
Dartmoor National Park

Weber looked out over the forests and lakes toward the mountains in the distance. It'd had been sometime since he'd last had to use this place for a meeting of any kind, but given that it was the Gaian's he was meeting, he felt it somewhat appropriate to meet in the woodlands of Cambridge, far away from the cities and prying eyes. He'd been informed that his guest had been found at the University and was being flown to him. A team of agents were ready to bring her to his office, while he finalized the last of his papers and packed up what he needed for his upcoming trip. A quiet message indicated that the shuttle was close and he approved their approach, patiently waiting in his office for whomever the eco-terrorists sent.

The office's door opened a second after a polite knock, Ross calmly strolling in.

- Director. - she greeted him with a polite smile. She was dressed casually, appropriately to the weather outside. A simple shirt, pants, a handbag, almost like an ordinary tourist, rather than a terrorist leader. - It is a pleasure to meet you in person. - she added while walking up to his desk, the door closing behind her back. - I hope I have not kept you waiting for too long.

Not at all. He said standing from behind his desk. Please, have a seat. From what I understand, recent events in Edinburgh have you concerned enough that you have come all this way. I believe I am aware of what troubles you so tell me, what can I do to help the Gaians today? I'm sure you can appreciate that our activities in that system are hardly limited, but against such a formidable target, perhaps you would prefer a subtler approach. But I am happy to hear your ideas.

RE: The Principia Mathematica - TheSauron - 07-31-2018

- A subtle approach... It would be preferable. But I'm afraid that a subtle approach is exactly what our enemy is expecting. - she replied, taking a seat opposite of him. - I believe we should make quite the opposite move. Something bold, to surprise them. Throw them off. They are used to being in charge, to dominating this war and dictating the tempo. If we could make them lose their rhythm, even momentarily, it could have a huge impact of their operations in the region. It will obviously not halt them completly, but such a disruption might buy us enough time to prepare for the looming offensive. Or, perhaps, to find a way to stop it from happening. It is a highly risky move, but we believe it to be a risk worth taking.

He tapped the desk for a few moments, thinking on what she said Before an assault can be arranged, detailed examination of the complex will be needed. I will not send either my pilots nor your own to their deaths if it can be helped, and I am uncertain if the Essex fleet will be willing to provide aid like last time, however...a few of our friends might be able to, if the Armed Forces cannot provide. My own people, as well as yours could make up the bulk of the fighter and bomber squadrons..if it is an assault you are thinking about.

RE: The Principia Mathematica - TheSauron - 08-01-2018

- It is close, but still not quite. A frontal assault on Issoudun in its current state would be a suicide mission. The shipyard's defenses will have to be softened for us to have any chance to succeed. We are of opinion that a well-placed EMP warhead could do the job. It is unlikely to affect La Riche and its escorts, but Issoudun itself and any forces stationed onboard will be out of the picture for a reasonable amount of time. As the shipyard's own defenses become inoperational, we expect the Royal Navy to pull reinforcements from Orkney and Leeds to protect their assets, as well as to commence a frantic effort to restore the station back into operational status. That will be our window, director. They will make mistakes, leave openings in their lines, vulnerable convoys will be hurrying back and forth through the area while the Navy attempts to secure Issoudun itself. - Ross paused for a second. - We will exploit that, strike them where it hurts. In Leeds, in Orkney, in Edinburgh itself. Us, you, the Armed Forces, the privateers. Perhaps even the Council.

RE: The Principia Mathematica - Secret Intelligence Service - 08-02-2018

He smiled briefly, An action that will, as you pointed out, will draw fighting forces away from Leeds, which will undoubtedly leave their supply lines open to attack, especially in Leeds. A sound strategy, presumably you are in the possession of one of these EMP devices? I hardly think the Gaians would approach us with a plan if you were missing a key component.

RE: The Principia Mathematica - TheSauron - 08-02-2018

- We are in the process of assembling such a warhead, yes. We should be able to complete it by ourselves in a timely manner, but any help will expedite the process greatly. We are missing another key component, however. Our relations with the Council are nonexistant at best, some of their units ignore us, other engage on sight. If we were to enlist their aid in this operation, I'm afraid that duty would fall upon you, director.

RE: The Principia Mathematica - Secret Intelligence Service - 08-07-2018

The Council will be informed, and I will do my best to ensure that they understand you and yours are not to be harmed He paused in thought as to how much information he could risk giving away. I would also like to hear your thoughts as to whether the coalition ought to be contacted. It is high time their commitment to this war ought to be tested, or perhaps the Crayterians...despite their lack of numbers. Or would you prefer this operation stay between ourselves? I can appreciate Edinburgh being sacred ground for Gaian's, but the sanctity of Gaia has already been violated, and so long as Gallia holds that system, it will continue to be violated, but out of respect for your movement, I will ask whom you would rather not have in that system, and who you would allow.

RE: The Principia Mathematica - TheSauron - 08-07-2018

- The Coalition? - Ross repeated, pausing for a moment but not expecting him to reply. - They have displayed a friendly attitude towards our movement in the past, though our contact has been limited. As for Crayter, we did consider their participation possible, but we have come to a conclusion that Edinburgh is too remote for them to deploy any meaningful forces. I take it our assumptions were wrong? Regardless, yes... Yes. Both of those parties would be acceptable, if you find their support invaluable for the operation.
