The Insurgency is a revolutionary military organisation which consists of the former forces of the Hellfire Legion and the Liberty Separatists. This merge of forces happened in June 827 and increased the organisations power. They hold the system of Vespucci with its habitable planet Veracruz as well as the majority of the Kansas system. Though they claim Liberty as their home and extend their operations into the house space proper as well as the surrounding independent worlds.

Their rule is that of a military organisation headed by the Fleet Admiral Victoria Knight. Right to citizenship is gained by serving in any of the Military's organisation or directly benefiting the military complex. Conscription is being introduced into populace and a means to become part of the organisation.

The Insurgency is fielding the fifth largest non-house military force in Sirius. Including civilians on Veracruz their organisation is growing to the size of a small nation.

History

Hellfire Legion
Shortly after the end of the Nomad War, the Liberty Navy and Security Force had enacted a mission to cleanse the Armed Forces of the rest of their suspected Nomad infiltrators. Among these suspects was Drake Thastus, who among his division which included the new LNS Spyglass was ambushed and forced to turn rogue, retaining what ships remained from their division.
For the next two decades, the 'Hellfire Legion' gathered what support and strength they could from local and foreign unlawfuls, creating rugged alliances that fit their needs in a vendetta against the Liberty Navy. With a turning point in the infamous Battle of Califormia Minor, the Legion became a substantial force to be reckoned with, and over the early 820s saw a golden age of progression they would never recover from.

Bogged down by political squabble thanks to their civilian aspect, the Commonwealth of Liberty, the Legion became inefficient, unproductive, and sat back in the face of a growing Navy. This was later resolved with the Commonwealth's forced dissolution, but took its toll on the Legion's personnel.

Liberty Separatists
In 823 the Navy Battlegroup Harmony encountered sabotage issues they could not find the culprit of. Multiple vessels were damaged, including the flagship, Battleship Harmony. Investigations were increasingly difficult while Navy forces kept being involved in suspicious attacks on civilian craft. Meanwhile all investigations headed by Rear Admiral Victoria Knight lead nowhere.
In July 823, the Navy finally attacked the battlegroup head on and they only survived after the backing of most of the LSF' space borne forces. The united Separatists tried to fortify Alaska but eventually failed to sustain the Navy's continous attacks. Soon after, with assistance of the Lane Hackers, the group escaped toward the New Hampshire system until they reached Bering. From there they rebuilt and established themselves within Bering. Recruits came from the Navy and the LSF toward the small resistance group. Though their fortifications wouldn't last forever. In 827 after the Gallic war, the Navy could finally spare the forces to strike against Bering, destroying Freeport 2 and forcing the Separatists to retreat and regroup.

Liberty Insurgency
Following the retreat and evacuation of Bering, the united Hellfire and Separatist forces requested additional craft from the Commonwealth. The Commonwealth had been turning a path away from the initial ideologies of the Legion for a time now and their denial for military assistance finally made the now united Insurgency forces dissolve the government, violently were necessary.

Command Organisation

With the growing size of the Insurgency and the various organisations now united under one common command, the common Liberty Navy command structure was enhanced to fit the changed parameters. The spaceborne Navy forces are split into two fleets, ground naval infantry is united in one army. Naval police is separated into districts with the major one being Heroica City proper.

The Fleet Admiral is supported by the Admiralty, the Marshal and the Chief of Naval Police. Major military deployments are approved by the Admiralty.

Objectives
The Insurgency's immediate goals are sovereignty over their local space by defending their borders and enforcing their order. With their main territory secured and safe areas set up, further objectives can be tackled. Governmental order needs to be enforced by Navy units while maintaining civil order and growing military focused industries. For that purpose resource deposits need to be claimed and secured. In cooperation with allies, firm supply lines need to be established and defended.

With these goals achieved, the Insurgency Navy would finally have recovered their forces fully and would begin growing their power. With further units reinforcing the military open attacks toward Liberty core worlds would be possible and other major organisations will have to recognise the Insurgency Navy as the local sovereign force.

Operations

The Insurgency majorly focuses on the house of Liberty but is also active in the independent worlds with minor details in various other places.

Currently there are multiple divisions deployed in:

California

1 Attack Group

Texas

1 Task Force

Inverness

2 Squadrons

Omicron Minor

1 Squadron

Planets
The Insurgency is currently focusing all planetary efforts on Planet Veracruz. Naval infantry as well as naval police are being trained on the world and various administrative and development efforts are being deployed onto the world proper.

Planet Veracruz
Main Article:

Being their main base, Planet Veracruz is an important location for the Insurgency. Military equipment and other supplies are being built here and the defense are most tight in this area of Vespucci.

Planet Wichita
Planet Wichita is currently being investigated for future operations. Though no further research has been made, the planet seems to allow at least short term stays without further supplementary gear.

Stations
With the origins of the Insurgency being primarily the Liberty Navy, most of the Insurgency's power is spaceborne. To manifest this power, several key installations are held and maintained by the Insurgency Navy.

Marshall Station
Marshall Station used to be the Liberty Separatist Headquarters in Bering. With most essential equipment evacuated, the Defiant-class installation is being rebuilt within Vespucci as a symbol of the resilience of the Insurgency. Fleet Admiral Victoria Knight also had vested interest in the former Separatist HQ being rebuilt as opposed to the former Legion installations.

Fort Leniex

Fort Riley

Mulvane Outpost

Galveston Outpost
Galveston Outpost was built by the Separatists in 825 as a forward station within Texas. It was finally finished in 827 near the beginning of the Bering invasion. It is now fully capable of sustaining patrols throughout the system and holds enough supplies to sustain itself for about two weeks. Most attack strikes or escorts within Texas are launched from here as opposed to mobile units. With the shift of the Insurgency to securing the independent worlds, Galveston has proven to be a solid investment into the future of the movement.

Equipment
The Insurgency is using a mix of Legion developed vessels and Liberty Navy ships. Most of these are still originally built by the Navy with some being recovered or completely rebuilt vessels by the Separatists and Insurgency. By now many vessels are being reproduced and maintained while added resources and time finally allowed to make much needed modifications.

Developments
The most notable own developments fielded by the Insurgency are the Prosecutor-class fighter, the Inquisitor-class gunboat, the Judicator-class battlecruiser and the Arbiter-class dreadnought. These vessels were originally developed or improved on by the Hellfire Legion with minor improvements being done by the Insurgency.

In the future the Insurgency counts on improving common Navy designs for their changed situation and practicality as well as cheaper production.

Appearance

Uniforms
The general bulk of the Insurgency armed forces is wearing slightly adjusted Liberty Navy uniforms. The blue uniform is still a matter of pride and symbolism for the Separatists and for the Hellfire Legion it is a sign of true military organisation. Ranks are well visible on the shoulder of each uniform.
Naval police is wearing black uniforms while still following the same ranks and having those visible on their shoulders as well.

Ranks
In general all ranks are still according to the Liberty Navy ranking structure. All incorporated Hellfire Legion forces adopted those ranks once a united command structure was established.
