I am truly disappointed in the actions of The Union, and quite frankly did not see something as dishonorable as this. I have been given the Evidence needed to hold Der Alster Union responsible for the conflict that is plaguing Bering at this time and I ask that you end it. Give Battlegroup Harmony what is owed to them. Your actions are causing Bering to Destabilize and its interrupting The Amenhotep's ability to combat the Infected Forces in Liberty. I told myself I would not get involved with internal conflicts but this issue is jeopardizing me, my crew, and The Amenhotep which is also my home. If you fail to give what is owed to Harmony, I will have no choice but to enter this conflict and ensure you do. I prefer to speak to Dross about this but I have not seen her in sometime. Make no error in my wording, this is not a threat, but a promise that I will take action to secure Bering so the fight against the infected Forces in Liberty continue.

The face drawn upon the screen appears haggard and withdrawn. The bridge of the vessel behind him is crammed with irregular machinery ill-bolted to inter-compartmental panels and stuffed into crawlspaces. Even the polymer has been peeled from the walls to preserve space. Incongurously for a warship, the compartment is filled with what can only be described as triage supplies, comparable to a field hospital. Stretchers, anti-radiation drugs, stents and corroded surgical dr0ids fill the space. Only emergency lighting is active, as if power is being drawn elsewhere.

“Captain. Your reputation precedes. "

"I'm Syndicadmiral Arno Schutzsky, son of Sebastian Schutzsky. Ja, the obvious one. By the grace of the Union, my father was not the first casualty in the Nomad War, but he was most certainly not the last. Dross is indisposed within the Omegas, so we must come face-to-face."

"To Hell with your posturing."

"I have seven hundred civilian comrades, more than half of whom have radiation burns, are grieving, or both. I have watched children die in the medical bays of this gott damned tub of a warship because there are not enough doctors to attend to them. My engineers are attempting to strap an experimental jump drive hacked together out of prayers and Cultist ashes into the main reactor space, in order to jump us to a system that I have no navigational data for, into the arms of a people whose language I barely speak. They will probably blow us all to God. "

"In short, I am attempting to save lives. Human lives. Are you going to help me save these lives, Captain, or are you all talk and no heroics? Because you can waltz up to Pacifica right now and start blasting away at it with your mortars and watch as the bodyparts of a few thousand civillians form a red mist around your shield grid if that is the kind of man you are. There are not enough men to stop you. Pacifica's defence forces are meagre, in part, because we have, one, been stabbed in the back by a collective of fascists gone power mad. If you wish to assist them turn Liberty into a medieval Autarky where might makes right, you do so."

"Or, you can help me."

"My ship is two hundred and forty seven wounded over capacity. I am about to attempt a jump using a drive that, due to a shortage of thermal retention batteries, will likely melt the hull, to rescue seven hundred. I cannot save all of them. These are civilians who cannot be relocated through Harmony's blockade. Harmony is insisting that there are no Unioner civilians regardless, and has used lethal force against medical relief transports. I request, sailor to sailor, vessel in distress to a vessel that can render aid, as befitting Stellar Nautica practice, not as a Unioner, or an Order Agent, that you provide medical attention to those two hundred and forty seven Unioners, then deposit them on Freeport Two, neutral ground."

"Then I can deal with your gott damn ultimatums. Then, I'll believe that you really want to stop the infection, that you're not just another goal-driven demagogue like the accursed Victoria Kight or Samuel Locklear. Your ship has sufficient medical support to handle at least two hundred of them, and far more sophisticated than ours. Help me save their lives, and I will provide Scarabeus with the full unedited transcripts of all of our interactions with Battlegroup Harmony. Then you'll discover the truth of all of this, and if you still decide to stack the odds against my kin, so be it."

"Helm, begin jump calibrations. Increase basal core output to one thirty five. Disable thermal safeties."

"Solidarity to us all."

The feed shudders, quickens, then fails altogether to the shrill of claxons perforating the air.

In the memory of the fallen, so none may fall again.

Lets not side track what the main issue is here, Der Alster Union is directly responsible for the plague that is running its course through Bering. Once you give what is owed you will find the blockage should come down and aid will come to your people. How hard is it to give what is owed? Its not like Harmony stole it, or forced you to make it out of your own materials. You had them deliver it, you made it and then used it against Harmony and you expect compassion in return? I am sorry but this is not how friendship works. I sympathize with your wounded as I have been in that situation before. However, you have the ability to stop all of this and treat your people. I am sorry to say this but the Amenhotep is not equipped to deal with mass casualties, She is equipped to deal with our crew and ours alone. Do yourself and your people the greater good, end it before someone ends it for you.

"Captain kahl."

"I understand your perspective. Harmony was offered wartime supplies and had them taken away from them, potentially endangering their movement in the future with equipment starvation. This is a rather tactical point of view which ignores all of the surrounding factors, but it is a valid one."

"There are two kinds of Unioners, just as there are two kinds of Order. There are those who agree with Golanski's belief that the Nomads can only be held at bay at any cost, through terrorism, through extreme militarism and non-cooperation with the possibly already infected houses, and those who believe the houses should be co-operated with unless they are infected themselves, just as you believe."

"Equally, Unioners divide down the middle between Ancestralists and Cosmicists."

Ancestralists believe that the end goal of the Unioners is to retain the employment rights once given to us and expand Syndicalism through a state network - that, once the monopoies are dead, the people will grant us amnesty. They tend to be more suspicious of more expansionist armed revolutionary movements, and equally are extremely protectionist of Unioner assets. They regard any introduction of additional regulation onto Unioner activity as a threat to their Ancestral guarantees under the articles of Unionisation, even if those guarantees are not enforced in practice. The short-lived triurmivate, of which Schilder, the former direktor of Pacifica who first embargoed the Seperatists, was an Ancestralist."

"I am a Cosmicist. We believe that the houses will never allow us back into the false-world that they have built, and that planetary occupation inevitably leads to inequality and violence. We believe the articles of Unionisation are the premise to construct a new celestial society based within asteroids, comets, and spacecraft, just as the non-planetary populations of the Unions have for the past three hundred years. We seek a destiny beyond that offered by the Zoners; the continuation of the houses, yet able to utilise the full wealth of the resources of their borders, rather than just nourishing perpetually inefficient and greedy terrestrial planetary populations through frivolous terraforming and ecoscaping projects. We are more likely to value co-operation with other groups over institutional purity, and we are virulently opposed to the expansion of house borders."

"It is this difference of opinion which has impacted our relationship with the n Seperatists. Under Cosmicist ideals, they were first invited into Bering to thrive independently of oppressive government. When Harmony started imposing regulations over who and what could traverse Bering, it was the stance of the Cosmicists that they were abusing the freedoms the Union had helped them achieve to restrict the freedoms of others, whilst under Ancestralist ideals, the Seperatists were claiming zones of control in an area of space traditionally called home by the Unioners."

"Schilder's Triurmivate was appointed to lead the Union after former Arbeitsdirektor Solomon Weiss, the creator of the Syndicate Leagues of the Unioners and the Landwirtrechtbewegung, stepped down, deeming the unification of the organisations complete and total. Weiss was an advocate of assisting the Separatists in further fortifying Freeport Two, and in decreasing the Unioner guard forces in the area for assignment to separate locations, in light of the then-brewing tensions between Rheinland and the GMG. After Weiss's departure, Schilder replaced myself as the Pacifica Director - the Triurmivate, following the beliefs of the hardline Ancestralist Hansel Garen, promoted the idea that use of Pacifica's shipyards is a privilege, not a right. The Separatists could not reasonably expect to use Unioner labour to build ships that the Separatists may use against the Unioners. That, I add, was Schilder's position. It is not a position I personally agree with."

"The Separatists were granted contractual use of Pacifica as long as they preserved the mutual security of Bering as a free and independent bastion for all those who require sanctuary from the oppression of the houses of Rheinland and Liberty, who both have a history of politically motivated exile. You yourself are a politically motivated exile from the fifth fleet. As they imposed laws against who could traverse the system, carrying what, under varying regulations, a great many Unioners believed that they were being betrayed by the Separatists, who had lied about their objectives in the region. Increasingly the Seperatists started referring to themselves as the enforcers of the 'law' within Bering, despite the Separatists having no civilian judiciary from whom laws could be based. The system was, in effect, under martial law, without the consultation of the Unioners."

"For months before, the Separatists had been caught in varying situations accompanying members of the Hellfire Legion (who immediately cloaked away in most instances when contact was broached), an organisation responsible for several direct attacks against the Unioners without a stated declaration of war or motivation for their actions. The Unioners bore no hostile intent towards the Legion other than a defensive stance, and had traditionally seeked a peaceful solution to the crises under Weiss. Weiss equally overlooked the relations between the Separatist and the Hellfire Legion, and even a Separatist attempt to pirate a Jump Drive Mark Four from the cargo bay of a Unioner ally supplying Pacifica with the component. Note, the Separatists had made overtures to bar Unioners from the airspace around Marshal, whilst no attempt was made by the Unioners to limit Separatist access to Pacifica."

"When Knight requested the Hel from the Union, it was I who signed the contract to deliver the spacecraft, providing Harmony supplied its construction, just as Harmony had supplied the repair and maintained of the Discovery and the Harmony respectively. I was, however, replaced with Schilder, who viewed delivering the Hel to Harmony as an effective shot in the leg. How could the Hel be delivered, he argued, whilst Harmony threatened Unioner allies throughout the system? Schilder blocked the delivery of the Hel until Seperatist law enforcement in the region could be renegotiated into a true powersharing agreement that would keep Bering independent from any one party, Unioner or Separatist, just as it had been prior to Admiral Knight's arrival. This was entirely a peaceful exercise."

"Knight's response, if you can call such an act with diminutive terms, was to order the Separatists aboard Pacifica to seize control of the shipyard module, and to send in a siege cruiser with fighter escorts to mount a surprise invasion against guard forces who had been deliberately thinned as an expression of trust in the Separatists. Despite overwhelming odds and the element of surprise, Schilder's men succeeded in defending Pacifica and repelling the attacking vessels."

"Knight's reaction, instead of negotiating, was to enlist the help of the Hellfire Legion, who promptly murdered several hundred Unioner civilians with a misplaced Nuclear Warhead. The reaction amidst the Union has been as mixed as it is enraged. Arbeiter Dross, your comrade, is one of a number of Unioners who have joined the Coalition, blaming the former leadership of the Union for the plight of Pacifica by appeasing the Seperatists to too great a degree, allowing Knight's ambitions to get ahead of herself. Within the Union, the Triurmivate system has been immediately abandoned and a new Arbeitsdirektor has been appointed with all the relevant emergency powers: Corin Frei. For those of us have remained, the attack has rallied us together as a population. We will stand against the tyrants, our arms linked, our hearts set."

"I do not agree with Schilder's actions, but I agree with murdering children over one sodding antiquated cruiser, much less. We will not roll over to Admiral Knight's boot, nor will we surrender or show quarter. We will defend ourselves until Pacifica, and its residents, are secured. Diplomacy is one option, Marshall's destruction is the other. Ancestralist or Cosmicist, we are the Union, and we will not succumb to pigs."

"If you truly believe we are anything but the victim in this plight, then you're not the defender of Humanity you paint yourself as."

"What are you, Captain? A humanitarian, or just another token warlord?"

"Choose the man you wish to be remembered as. The Gaians have absolutely nothing to gain from taking sides in this conflict, yet they are risking their lives daily to supply us with Med Stasis Bands, water, and emergency Provisions. If you wish to join Harmony in ensuring children suffocate, so be it. You will not succeed, anymore than you succeeded in denting the Union's activities in Texas during your career in the Fifth Fleet."

"Go free, walk away from all of this, or help us end the war. Perpetuate it, and justice will hound you to the ends of the sector."

Guten Tag,

Despite the fact, that Lattke already answered your transmission, I will give you more practical view on this situation.

I guess, you got a nice picture on current events there, despite the fact, that it's only how the Kampfgruppe "Harmony" sees the situation. Let me show you the other side of the coin, Herr Kalh.

I also apologise for not introducing myself - Ligadirektor Stefan Morgenstern, I don't think, that we had a pleasure to meet each-other before. Probaly, it's for the best. Anyway, I should stick to the topic of the message. I'm wondering, why you haven't asked the question...

Why we didn't want to give this damned Hel to the Kampfgruppe?

Imagine the situation. Someone comes to your doorstep and asks for help. You let this person in, help him and after some time this individual says, that your home is his home now. This is exactly what happened with Bering. We helped separatists, without us they wouldn't be the group, they are now. We fighted arm by arm against mutual enemies. What did we get in return? They invited our enemies in our home. They enforced their laws, limiting our incoms, like military salvaging. I don't exactly know, where does the Kampfgruppe take resources, but they seem to appear from a thin air, meanwhile we shouldn't, we have to struggle and involve in smuggling to ensure our surviving. Harmony tried to cut this supply line.

We offered them terms, acceptable by both parties:

Quote:First and foremost, the Alster Union wishes to reserve right to shoot down any hostile vessel, with no exemptions, within perimeter of 15 clicks around Pacifica, including the close perimeter of 2 clicks around Hamburg anomaly as it's extremely important to our commerce and serves as a connection with the rest of our movement.

Military Salvage claims are to be considered as the ownership of Alster Union and any mining operation that is not initiated by the Alster Union, Battlegroup Harmony or Junker Marauders need to be disrupted immediately.

We will respect Battlegroup Harmony's authority within perimeter of 15 clicks of Marshall Station and close perimeter of Bristol Depot and not initiate hostilities in the area if requested to. It is not our intention to "muscle" your relations, but I would prefer if you deal with the said parties outside of Bering or at least in close proximity of Marshall Station as their presence creates an unnecessary concern.

What did we get as the answer? Another one demand to give this cruiser. We have never said "No" to the Kampfgruppe, Herr Kalh, but cruiser had to stay in the drydocks of Pacifica, until we come to the agreement. Instead of negotiations they tried to take this vessel with brutal force. And they failed.

We didn't start this war. We didn't want this war.

We only wanted to protect our home.

Auf Wiedersehen

Fur free Bering,
Stefan Morgenstern,
Ligadirektor, die Alster Union

You'll have to forgive me, While I indeed am trying to "Save Humanity" as you put it. I have to sometimes be aggressive in order to get a response. A show of force is needed at times. Anyways...

I have taken the time to really understand your point of view, your messages are indeed firm and your people are suffering. Having the ability to really hear your side of the story has made me re-think the Direction I want to take this issue. You see, Harmony and The Unioners have both been incredible allies to me and the rest of my small organization. I nor my command structure want our diplomacy to go south. However I cant ignore the fact that it seems from what you're telling me that The Unioners are the one to blame for this sudden war. Before you jump ahead of me let me explain why I think this.

Firstly, Direktor, you informed me that it was you who gave Harmony the green light to have this spacecraft delivered so long as Harmony footed the bill per say in getting the materials needed. Then Schilder came along and decided giving Harmony said ship would have caused a self-inflicted wound per say. It was in this moment Direktor that caused the war. You gave Harmony this false hope of a cruiser and after you took their materials for what im sure they paid a pretty credit for you said no, you can't have it. If I was a customer of yours I would have acted in an aggressive manner also.

Secondly, Now that you told your customer no, they enlisted the help of a certain entity with the power to do some serious damage, and while the civilian casualty was high, it seemed to have caught your attention and that's the point where you should have realized maybe we should give them this vessel. well, obviously that didn't happen.

I sympathize with the position that you are in, but looking back on the events its clear as day that if you had simply given the vessel to the entity that paid for it, none of this would have happened. It's unfortunate that your actions have caused my operations against the Republic of Liberty Infected Forces to be less effective hence why I am now involved. You see I can't run successful operations from bering If I am having a war behind me and the enemy in front of me.

So, I ask what terms would Der Alster Union accept so this war can end.

Herr Kalh,

And again I will answer your transmission, as Lattke is currently busy with other affairs. However, this message will only show how I and part of other Unioners look at this situation.

The "Hel" cruiser was just a formal reason for the Kampfgruppe to attack the Die Alster Union. There was the chain of events leading to it, including enforcing of Separatists laws, limiting our salvage and smuggling operations and inviting our enemies to our home. We understood, that we were at the edge of the war and we couldn't give this vessel to our potentian enemy. As you can see, though, we didn't want to see "Harmony" in this way and we did our best to prevent this situation from happening. We offered them a diplomatic solution.

This offer was refused and we got only more demands.

But still, we would like to resolve this conflict diplomatically. But I guess, that the war went too far. Especially, when the NEMP bomb was landed on Pacifica and thousand of our people, not soldatens, but engineers, who were helping Harmony to raise, were killed.

As for the terms, whatever terms we accept, Harmony won't accept them, if they don't state literally ownership of Bering for them. Max Schidler put reasonable and limited enough terms for us and they were refused.

Auf Wiedersehen

Well I can somewhat understand where you are coming from, this situation is hard for everyone. I have been trying my best to not physically be present and negotiate via transmissions due to my respect for both parties. I am hoping in the coming weeks an agreement can be met and we all can go back to our normal lives. I am sure tired of all the fireworks behind me and dealing with Liberty in front of me.
