Biography

Katharina Lilly Laurenz was born into a semi-wealthy family barely sitting over the middle class, but certainly not one so prestigious to the point of being recognized by it's name. At the time, she had one younger brother, her father was a respected science professor, and her mother a historian at the same university. Kathrina, or "Kat" as her mother would come to call her; was a brilliant mind, scoring very high on all standardized tests that otherwise determined her school cell and classmates. That same mind didn't yield in school, finishing 3rd in her class from boarding school, and going on to graduate first in her class with a loan-less University education thanks to scholarships from boarding school. While she was certainly a strong mind, or a bookworm; she was also quite antisocial - struggling to maintain more than a few friends moving on through school. Of course, she had a heart for her friends, and was very loyal; but that loyalty would comet to find itself "misplaced" more than a few times. Still, what friends she had kept her on board, weather it be studying, or exercise - which Kat loved equally - they'd give her a reason to keep being the same person.

By the time she graduated from her University at the age of 24, her father had been drafted into the military to serve against the threat originating from Liberty. Taking away the chance to work with her father, Kat was originally outraged - but later eased at her father's understanding of the situation. Knowing he wouldn't likely be more than a patrolmen made Kat rest easy, and even considered military service herself on her own time in the future to escape being drafted against her will. Her brother Erich however, didn't take lightly at all their father's draft, and began to protest along with hordes who opposed Rheinland's corporate reliance, corruption, and willingness to involve itself in conflicts like the Libretonian war that otherwise seemed unnecessary to the general populace. While he hasn't shown signs of joining anything extreme as the Volksrevolution, his opinion on the topic has only solidified in the time since. Despite anticipating the worst, Kat's father was able to retire early on his own terms due to a medical condition, and his value to medical research in general as a biologist.

In the mean time, Kat had begun to pursue another avenue in her life the same year her father had been drafted - she began to date another scientist, Niklas Kessler. The two would stick together for a few months before getting married in 818 A.S, their marriage seemed fruitful at first, but for personal reasons the two separated in 820 A.S. Kat has yet to budge on the topic informally, and formal attempts to extract the reason from her have been met with different "stories".

Seemingly heartbroken from her divorce, Kat looked to the military to re-organize her life and keep her health up to speed until she could decide what to do later on. Eventually making it through basic, Kat was positioned as a patrol pilot in Southern Rheinland against the ever-growing hessian menace. Kat never really took the distaste for the Hessians or the Bundschuh on a personal level, however her loyal personality solidified her position in the conflict, mixed with respect for her father. Kat was a proficient pilot, and was later looked upon by the Buro in 822 A.S. In that same time she decided to take up an offer to join, and was granted a starting rank position within the Buro. Following advanced training, and skills in other crucial departments the Buro treasured in contrast to the military; Kat set off on a different avenue of service - one that would latch hold of her attention in the years to come. Kat's proficiency in piloting since joining the Buro has been reflected on the front lines of the border skirmish in Sigma-21; however despite her popularity in that field, she actually holds more interest in research and development in regards to the nomads, and other forms of Alien life that has yet to be discovered.

The made Kommissar became most notable for the creation of the VENOM heavy weaponry, which yielded remarkable success in the field. Her knowledge of chemistry and biology rivaled even the Kommissarat's best scientists - propelling her to HauptKomissar in the same year where she served as the Direktor's primary weapons development specialist.

It is unclear when, but during some time in 826, HauptKommissar Laurenz wiped the databases on an undergoing project. It has sense been realized by the Direktor personnally that the plans were an extremely rare instance - [DATA REDACTED]

Enfield's discovery of Kat's discovery as well as the sudden coup by the Imperialist party in Rheinland has left Laurenz with the position of Kommissaroberrat.

Following the conclusion of the Rheinland Civil war, Direktor Enfield had gone missing and attempts to fill the role were met with little to no success. Although most of the databases were wiped by the Laurenz and Enfield to keep her identity a secret. The MND and Buro decided it would be best for an enigma to take charge of things. Kat Laurenz, now only known as "Viper" would assume the role of Direktor in 833.

Since assuming the role, her position has come under both scrutiny and praise. Many of the allies and adversaries of the Buro are troubled in dealing with an enigmatic persona they know little of. Others in the Buro favor "Viper" for investing in the weapons development program she'd once used to advance her title. Now, [REDACTED] has re-entered testing for live use. Though it remains classified to the world, derivatives from the destructive VENOM weaponry leave a positive impression on the Buro - and a fearful one on its enemies.
