"Manteau" cloaking device - additional documentation. Restricted access.

Concept:
The Manteau Cloaking Device is the most recent development by Felicity Willing on behalf of Franz' Rousse request to provide him with a better alternative that is more practical than the Sirian Devices. The Manteau was built on the base of a normal Cloaking Device, using the same technology but with an extended fuel storage. The basic concept consists of the device using waves to interact with the EM radiation around a ship, making it disappear from the scanning systems of most ships that are currently within the Hackers Database.
First cloaking devices in Sirius have been developed roughly twenty years ago in the times preceding the chain of events now known as the Nomad War, in Rheinland. The construction haven't been changed much since then, and, as back then, their main issue is their energy inefficiency, given they are consuming the specific batteries at a constantly high rate.
Efficiency increase in ensured by the injection of additional magnetic superconductors and optical fibers from the disassmbled optronic arrays - all serving the purpose of significantly bolstering the efficiency of device's energy consumption through decreasing the time required for energy to reach the EM field generator, thus decreasing the energy loss on the way.
Software will be altered to take into consideration once the vessel it will be installed on is delivered to the workspace aboard of Pacifica.

The device looks identical to a standard Sirian Cloaking device used by the people who field them. The idea of making the device less fuel-intense was not feasible and will require more research on a different base module.

Additional Notes:
The device still forces the shield systems to be put offline to be active, to make sure that everything is working as intended. Due to that, caution is advised about the timing of activating and deactivating the cloak, as it also requires the Shield-Systems to be put on manually after deactivating the device.

Fuel consumption: The injection of additional superconductors and optical fibers allowed increased efficiency compared to Sirian counterpart, decreasing the consumption rate to roughly 3 batteries per second.

The current Version of the Manteau Device can only be used on the XJ-3 Minuit, as it has been designed and crafted exactly for the ships re-designed systems.

Preliminary analysis:
Cloaking devices widely produced by independent manufacturers and widely available on Sirian market are direct successors of first samples developed by Rheinland engineering corps roughly twenty years ago - on the brink of the new Age, prior to the beginning of The Nomad War, that took place in 801 A.S. and where Rheinland have been positioned as an aggressor.
Currently available samples, being direct successors of the earliest developments have not only inherited a complicated structure and complexity in manufacturing, but also the flaws of this earliest predecessors.
One of it's main flaws that maintaining EM coating to veil even a single snubcraft required enormous amount of energy, the issue perhaps would be resolved by cold fusion reactor small enough to fit on a fighter, but such development is not present in our reality at this point in time.
The trouble, of course, have received it's portion of attention and a temporary solution - so-called cloaking device batteries.
A way of delivering necessary amount of energy for device to function by direct injection of said batteries into the device followed by energy consumption until the battery is emptied; automated mechanism is replacing emptied batteries with yet unused. Emptied batteries automatically ejected into space.

Energy inefficiency solution (concept):

The main problem is not hidden in the batteries; they, despite being an inefficient way of energy supplement and production - fulfill they purpose with sufficient efficiency unless a feasible alternative is provided by some bright mind; the issue is hidden within the device itself: it's energy consumption is inefficient, it's disassembling have unveiled a 34% energy loss during the process of energy transfer from the battery slot directly to the energy source of the cloaking device. The energy is not stored anywhere, it doesn't supply the power core of the vessel - it just vanishes without a trace, preliminary analysis test have confirmed that.
To decrease the consumption rate of specialized batteries by the device's automated sequence, i have once again disassembled it, and added the following alterations, as they are marked on the schematic.

Magnetic superconductors have been fitted into the device's power grid around the power core of the device.
Optronic arrays have been disassembled to extract optical fibers that have been placed around the power core of the device.

Manual simulation testing after the assemblage of Manteau have showed decrease of energy loss from 34% to 17%, roughly 1/2 of the total amount have been lifted by the provided alterations. In global perspective this allowed to decrease the amount of batteries the device have been consuming per second - from 4 to 3, which allows the vessel to stay veiled longer than generic cloaking devices available on Sirius market.

Conclusion:
The Manteau have been designed specifically for XJ-3 "Minuit", that will in the future need minor software alterations to meet the decreased batteries consumption requirements, preliminary simulation tests of altered device have shown it's higher potential compared to generic Sirius cloaking devices. However, considering the necessity to alter the software and provided hardware alterations it is not advised to utilize Manteau on any other snub craft except XJ-3 "Minuit". Consequences of reckless disregard concerning this mandatory-to-follow statement can not be predicted and may be harmful to the vessels' internal systems.
