logging into disco - MotokoSusu - 10-19-2018 OK, I have had an ongoing fight with getting laptops in my house to log into disco. So much to the point that I have reloaded all fresh installs of disco on all the machines. This hasn't stopped at the laptops though, it has been now recently a problem for my desktop as well. I have tested connections to other servers, the Discovery Chaos server and several of the Vanilla ones that are still around and been able to connect to them all just fine. So why is the Discovery GC server so much of a bitch to connect to? I have a ping of 117 which is just over 1/10 if a sec. Seeing it is based in Europe that is pretty good ping and is in no way something that the internal ping block would have a problem with. Also seeing that I have had a 117ping since day one of starting with Disco and it has not been an issue. I am not sure if there an issue with the server farm you are using, or there some kind of block somewhere between here and there. I have asked if it was an issue of an IP block but was told if one of my computers could log in there was not one. This has made sense but now with the more recent events, I am not sure. The desktop has never had this issue with disco where I get the "This operation is taking longer than expected press Escape" message followed by the "lost connection with server" popup. I would think it was an issue with my machine. BUT! Seeing I am able to log into 5 other servers with no issues, it is lending to the theory it is some sort of issue with Disco. I would like some sort of answer as to resolving this. Other then the typical smart ass ones that people seem to think that are funny. I would like to log on to my Angels ship. RE: logging into disco - Karlotta - 10-19-2018 What do your disconnections looks like? Can you log on at all, if yes how long can you stay on the server? Does lag gradually get worse? Where are you located? Can you try to play on another connection with the same laptop? RE: logging into disco - MotokoSusu - 10-19-2018 there no disconnection I get the server list I click on the disco server at the list. Then I get the "This operation taking longer than expected" warning while it is sitting on what is the char page. Then I get the lost connection with the server popup warning. There is no progressive lag issue. or getting logged in and then a sudden disconnect. RE: logging into disco - Karlotta - 10-19-2018 Did you try taking your laptop to another connection and trying there? RE: logging into disco - MotokoSusu - 10-19-2018 I have a connection to the internet via either the cat 5 or the wifi and they all are checking out at the prescribed Mbps rate that my service is at RE: logging into disco - MotokoSusu - 10-19-2018 if it was something that was connection based i would not be able to log on the other servers RE: logging into disco - MotokoSusu - 10-20-2018 if there a forum mod lurking around you can delete this i think i have found the issue RE: logging into disco - St.Denis - 10-20-2018 Is this resolved? |
