APM Iridium Rush Report #1
With the spreading information of the found Iridium wreck spreading far and wide, parties are investing time and resources to salvage the Iridium and make a hefty profit. Traders, miners, and pirates alike are taking advantage of not only the easier access of Iridium but the high market price of Iridium at the Alabama Shipyard. A fleet of Interspace Commerce transports could be seen making multiple trips from the wreck site. Different organizations also employed private contractors to harvest and package the Iridium ore for transport.
APM is also taking advantage of these circumstances. We have activated multiple ships for recovery and transport purposes. We have also contracted several civilian ships to aid in our gathering efforts, giving them a slight premium by assisting us. The average payment rate was 1,500 to 2,000 credits per unit. This equates to about 20-25% of the market value of Iridium ore. With the larger portion of profits benefiting APM transports, the risks are offset by the rewards in this matter. We will monitor local space and prices and submit updates as prices change.
Hostile encounters where occasional while transports hauled the Iridium ore. Primarily resistance was at the jump holes at the Omicron Delta/Rho and Omicron Lost/Delta corridors. These were two choke points that were expected to have hostile activity. Corsairs, Nomads, and private pirates were witnessed by corporate transports and from third party cargo ships. Core vessels as well as other freelancing war vessels were a common and mind-easing sight. The Battleship Amenhotep was also scene in the region providing protection to trading vessels as they carried out their operations.
The Bison Transport Areion was attacked by a Corsair gunboat during one hostile encounter. Areion suffered severe cargo hold damage in Omicron Rho just outside Durban Station trying to make it to safety. The entire cargo was unfortunately lost to the gravitational field of Planet Rio. Areion barely made it to Durban station before being completely destroyed by the approaching gunboat. After a brief change out of the modular cargo pods, Areion returned to service in hauling Iridium Ore.

APM Iridium Rush Report Update
Today we had the Surveyor mining vessel Felaggundu harvesting iridium ore in Omicron Lost. Felaggundu was mining for many hours throughout the day providing at least 500,000 units of iridium ore for well over 100 transport ships. Kusari cargo transports to Borderworld transport ships arrived to get their share of ore. At times Felaggundu was the only miner, resulting in a wait queue of 6 transports. With steady determination and eventual backup, all transports were filled in due time.
There were a couple of notable encounters that occurred during today's mining operation. The first of which was a small order attack on the mining area. An Order Hathor escorted by an Order Bastet attempted to scatter the civilian transports while destroying Core and APM vessels. Fortunately other transports gave warning of the incoming ships. This allowed security vessels to be enroute as well as for the majority of the mining operation to evacuate to a safe area. However not everyone escaped. One Core mercenary miner as well as three other transport ships were destroyed in the attack. Gunship Vulcan quickly responded to the mining field and engaged the Order vessels. Vulcan destroyed the Hathor but the Bastet escaped destruction and was last scene fleeing into Omicron Delta. Other Core vessels also responded and provided further protection for the mining operation.
There was also a visit from three Universal Shipping transports made their way to Omicron Lost. There was a minor set back with hostile vessels attempting to block the convoy's entry into Omicron Rho. The Core escorting ships made quick work of the blockade. Shortly after all three transports, two Titanics and one Mastodon made it to the mining operation safely. It was not much time after before the transports were full of iridium ore and on their way to Alabama Shipyard.
There is still a fluctuation of mining ships and transports coming and going from the mining site in Omicron Rho. With this steady flow of vessels, the pirate threat is always present. To all pilots, please remember to keep your scans on and your eyes open. If you see any hostile or suspicious activity please let the local security vessels know.

Operations have been sporadic today due to various threats to the mining fields. As mentioned by Ixen Kaldaka, Order assets raided the mining fields. Additionally, several commune vessels showed up later but were dealt with swiftly by Core escorts. Not long after, a Coalition battlecruiser attempted the same - I'm unaware of the result of that one. It should be noted that the independently contracted escort ship, Gunship-Vulcan, was of significant aid during today's operations. I believe he has signed on with our bounty board and should be recompensed for the destruction of the Order Hathor-class gunboat.
The Remora made two additional runs today, the first shipment of ore was provided by an independent miner by the name of Jack-Daniel, who was paid a mining fee of 5,000,000 credits for the ore. Following his demise during the Order's raid on the mining grounds, only APM Surveyor Felaggundu remained for mining operations. We moored the Remora at Alabama shipyard and dispatched our mining ship, APM Freighter Novitas, to aid in mining operations, supplying multiple inbound transports with Iridium ore. Once mining stocks were replenished, the Remora returned to the fields for a second shipment.
