Vedette - Kaze - 11-25-2018

Omega-3 | Freeport One
24/11/825 AS, 5:35 PM

The bay doors opened to greet a blood red Odin, highly modified and well known to the Coalition bay crew. One of the many blessings in Freeport One was the security devices that the Coalition and many other organizations had, such as a single, completely secure bay manned by their own personnel. And since there was to be a meeting with the Full Metal Bitch of the Bretonian Armed Forces, landing in that bay was the stated guideline. As the Rote Baron touched down, the bay doors closed and the bay was pressurized, unleashing the bay crew upon the craft, ready to man its every needs. Lukas Keller removed his helmet, and shook his head, finishing his post-landing commands onto the console. His eyes however, noticed one of the bay crew signalling to him. "D..anger. Do not exit.. craft. Explo..sive atmo." The signal was evident. While not a normal occurrence, it was not an unknown one. Sometimes, fumes from the engines could very well poison the bay pressurized atmosphere. He sighed slightly, and raised his hand in understanding. The crew member kept signaling, requesting to come aboard to check the instruments and ship status. Keller denied. The crew member insisted. Keller denied nodding his head negatively. The crew member signaled again. This time, a K at the start. Keller's eyes focusing on that specific bay crew. He nodded at last, and placed his helmet, to breathe in security, finally opening the side-hatch of the cockpit to allow the technician inside.

RE: Vedette - Keller - 11-28-2018

It was a most strange occurrence, but when dealing with people such as Silver and Dagon, Keller had come to expect this. Either this was just a mere procedure, or Dagon had something planned here. With the side hatch open, Keller would watch as the technician carefully entered his craft. The 'K' in the technician's signals was either a very obvious signal of who this was or just a glaring mistake and the fault of whomever taught this person how to communicate.

"What is it?" His voice was tame, restrained, calm even. But he clearly didn't want to waste time, especially by being idle in his ship when he could be orchestrating far more useful things from his office on Volgograd. Nevertheless, he would try to be patient. He was called here for a reason, the least he could do after accepting the invitation was to hear out the other side before making his final decision. In the back of his mind however, a certain darkness brooded, a hidden fear beginning to take root where no one could see.

RE: Vedette - Kaze - 11-28-2018

The technician started to scan several panels, and de-polarized her helmet visor, showing for an instant her face to Keller. Kaze Dagon nodded and started to talk, while faking it was taking a readout from the ships instruments and her visor polarizing once again.

"Lukas. I must apologize for the deception, but one can never be to careful. I faced some difficulties in arranging a proper clean environment for our meeting."

The inflection on the word clean drove the point home. She pulled a small console and plugged it to one of the holos, keeping herself busy, acting like a regular technician.

"Bretonia is moving onto Gran Canaria as you know. Hessians are locking down Dresden. Gallia is sending their lane and gate builders to Rheinland, and more without a doubt will follow. And obviously, New London is at its apex. And while I was doing my political duty in contacting the Coalition Military head first, your reply came out with an inflection that is not what was expected."

She knelt, and opened a small access panel and started to remove several tools from her backpack, placing them down in an orderly fashion, and looked up to face Keller.

"Is everything alright, Lukas? Or are you compromised?"

He rose to his feet, pacing to the end of the craft and turning back once he'd reached the cramped space at the end to look back at her. His mind raced because when he did finally turn, he could see clearly an apparition of Heinrich standing right next to Dagon, looking at him equally expectant of a reply. "Don't be shy" Heinrich said as she walked around Dagon to whisper in his ear. He was reminded of what was at stake here, there was no need for words, but words would follow regardless. "We wouldn't want history to repeat itself would we now... Riemann." The hybrid of a Bretonian and Rheinland accent sounded even fiend-like up close.

"No.." Was the only reply his mind could muster to the specter whispering into his ear, but it would be both audible and applicable to his conversation with Dagon. His stance seemed tense, despite all other posturing and even his answer indicating otherwise, something however well hidden it might have been was wrong.

RE: Vedette - Kaze - 11-30-2018

Kaze saw Lukas pacing to the end of the craft. Tense. A slight twitch in the head movement. Significant duress. Her jaw tensed up, as her bionic eye started to take readings and the conclusion came to home as he said no. Rising up from her kneeling position, her right hand in what appeared to be in an insulated working glove, shifted to show what it truly was. The glove appearance recessed, almost as it was being consumed, to show a sturdy metallic hand, black.

"Your voice analysis indicates that you are telling the truth. Your eye movement, dilation of the pupils, body pose and quite the walk indicate otherwise."

Her body moved slowly into a military pose, upright, hands behind her back. While many look at it as rigid, almost unyielding position, there is a reason for it. A tensed up body is a prepared body. The postural balance is unknown due to the feet and leg position. Hands are hidden.

"Back in the Sol era, many had found ways to to tell lies to truth serums, polygraphs, interrogations. Even more so now."

Her feet moved to take one step forward, closing the distance and putting herself once again body facing Lukas. The distance was right, and enough. If the multitude of systems in her could make a sound, they would be screaming for release.

"Again, and this is the last time I ask. Are you compromised, Lukas?"

RE: Vedette - Keller - 12-07-2018

Heinrich appeared again, circling behind Keller as she spoke. "You've already let your lover down, don't let your friend down."

Compromised - he took a moment to mentally reflect on that word, finding that he was compromised in multiple aspects beyond just the most obvious, many of which would be obstacles to the ultimate goal he'd set himself.

"Give in Lukas, you're not powerful enough to stop me, and neither is she." What remained abundantly clear was the stance Kaze had taken, one of combat-readiness. "You know what I'm capable of." She whispered in his ear again upon rapidly approaching from the other side.

With a sigh and a shake of the head, trying to dispel this growing sense of dread and hopelessness. "There's a lot at stake here Kaze, you know that. And compromised? I suppose in a way I am. There's a reason I promised myself that I would never allow myself to get emotionally attached to anyone, it weakens me, it makes me second-guess the most difficult of decisions. And above all else, it reminds me of my biggest limitation, the fact that I'm only human".

He took a moment to collect himself, wanting to say more, but this wasn't about him, this was about the potential outbreak of conflict. And not just in Omega - 49 but in himself, he felt torn between love and loyalty, friendship and servitude. "What Bretonia plans to do is the exact sort of thing I stand against, the Houses have thrown their weight around long enough at the expense of the people under them. How many more people have to die before you see through the charade of petty politics and bureaucracy? I can't look the other way. I don't have a choice.."

RE: Vedette - Kaze - 12-10-2018

After Lukas tirade, Kaze sighed somewhat and shook her head, without taking her eyes from Lukas. Behind her back, she pressed her wrist-pad sending a silent message to a nearby receiver.

"I could go on the obvious tirade about the Zoners being the ones that brought in the Corsairs to Omega-49. I could on how OSI is dealing with Gallia. I could go on that this was inevitable, with the decision makers shielding themselves behind innocents."

Suddenly, a second tech, fully kitted, showed up from the side hatch and looked at Lukas in silence.

"However, you are my friend, if I can say as much. And you are saying things that are making you look like a fool."

Removing herself from the ready pose, she tapped the second tech's back in a farewell like move and turned back at Lukas, before leaving through the hatch.

"I will clear the bay of the remaining crew and then leave. You two have all the time in the world."

The second tech removed her helmet, showing off the brown, voluminous hair of Kira and her eyes, mad as only a woman can be mad, looking at Lukas.

RE: Vedette - Keller - 12-10-2018

He hadn't expected the turn of events that just unfolded before him, and Keller couldn't help but wonder if Kira had been a silent spectator to everything he'd just said, perhaps that was why she seemed so upset with him. He couldn't really know for certain, Kira was a rather.. complicated individual. "Kira.."

He almost whispered it and visibly hesitated whether or not to approach her. Eventually he'd fight against it and take a few steps forward, arms slightly outstretched and reaching towards her. If she didn't slap him like one of the last times they were reunited then he would try to embrace her.

RE: Vedette - Kira - 12-11-2018

Her hands reached up to her hair and shook it loose from the forced confinement of the helmet. Her eyes were partly swollen from crying and yet there was a visible spark in them. Hesitant, however, she walked towards Lukas and hugged him fiercely. After clearing the hug, content that he was there, her residual heat flowed through Lukas, who opened his eyes to stare at the now raging fire with daggers in the mix that her eyes displayed. "I weaken you?"

Was the only question she voiced.

RE: Vedette - Keller - 12-24-2018

She'd indeed heard everything he said just prior. There was no taking back the words, nor did he have any desire to misdirect or lie to her. It wouldn't have been fair. "You do. You fill me with compassion, mercy.. things I can't afford to show. And right now.. I'm afraid the only thing I'll bring to both you and your son is misery."

He spoke softly, hands crossed in front of him in a somewhat formal manner, a clear sign that he wasn't himself right now. It would be selfish of him to continue being with her if all it did was bring harm into her life, or so he tried to tell himself in order to convince his own heart.
