Times...certainly have changed, for better, and for worse. Ending my sabbatical after half a year seemed like the correct decision at the time. But now, sitting in a dusty ship watching the hustle and bustle of Livadia, it just doesn't seem right. Of course the fall of Omega 49 certainly hasn't helped the traffic. But it is odd to travel across the promenade to see a sea of outstretched hands for credits rather than a busy trade floor. But times will be what they are.

The Guild at the moment may be nothing more than myself and my small team aboard the Aurora. But Ingenuus at one point in time was nothing more than the dream of a man. And as they say a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Or in my case a deep cleaning.

With the ever changing jump hole network we had to slowly work our way across the Omegas. Often following passing convoys, or hiring direct escorts. Either way we have arrived at Freeport One.

The Freeport has grown in these intervening years of my absence. Of course the Ingenuus Labs have already been commandeered by whatever happens to pass as Station Administration around here. I doubt there will be little, if anything, of value for my own studies that aren't already apart of my research library.

Of course One has the distinction of being where I started my research. With a nearby Baxter Object, the most stable and long lasting, sitting tantalizingly close One was the start of my foray into Hyperspace all those long years ago. It seems right that here in this time and place so many years later that One once again would be the start of another grand adventure.

Of course all adventures need financial backing, to that end I bought an advertisement for our Survey Services. We'll see moving forward how long this adventure of mine is going to last for.

I don't remember it being quiet so difficult to approach this Baxter Object. Between the radiation alarms, and whatever was flaring the shields I'm impressed that we managed to collect any data. I've started to run an analyse comparing my original research to the current anomaly to hopefully identify the change in the Baxter Objects interactions with normal space.

While an full report will still require further trips to the Baxter Object I've been forced to temporarily pause my research to fulfill the first of what I hope are many forthcoming survey orders. It is certainly a change to be forced, per-say, to work on credit producing projects in more priority than that of my own research. But to ensure that I can keep my line of credit open, along with the Guilds rather size-able payroll requirements, pause we shall.

Two years ago today, more or less Ingenuus collapsed; quite spectacularly in my opinion.

In the in-between things more or less have also remained the same. While certain conflicts have changed there are others that are ever present. What is always for certain is that the cost of fuel, especially out here on the edge have slowly risen to become unbearable. This in conjunction with normal repair costs has made the Aurora quite expensive to run. Additionally while I have been struggling to find funding I have been overwhelmed by applicants looking to get field experience. To the point that we're using some of the lower cargo spaces as temporary sleeping quarters. So despite my misgivings I've started to read up on local organizations who might be able to not only further fund the research teams but maybe give a stipend for the cost of the fuel too

I likely spent more time than needed waiting for a well funded enough research group to come along, and wouldn't you know my luck, the Starlight Research Consortium dropped into my lap. I've only just been accepted but I dare say things are looking up! I've made my way to their main base of operations in the Tau-23 System. A nearby unstable baxter object has already drawn my attention but I think I'll make myself acquainted to the man upstairs before wilding myself out to the unknown.
