"What defines us is how well we rise after falling" ~Unknown General Information
History Ancient Times
In the days of medieval Earth, the front line of any battle was often regarded to as the Forlorn Hope company, due to the low odds of survival and risks associated with it. However, for those who survived the tasking, it was a chance to earn untold glory and honor. As a result, many soldiers without much to lose would request a position in this line, hoping for the chance to change their fate through strength of will and steel. Today The mercenary company known as the Forlorn Hope broke up due to internal pressures and external stagnation, resulting in the scattering of its members across Sirius. Mercenary pilots signed on with corporations, unlawful groups, bounty hunters and house navies, all looking to support their lifestyles the only way that many of them could. After a few chaotic months of former partners meeting each other in battle, the members of the Forlorn Hope had all but vanished into the background of Sirius. With their departure, many of the areas once patrolled and pacified by the Forlorn found themselves beginning to show instability and danger again. Recently the members of the Forlorn Hope have begun to flock towards their old haunts, wearing their old identifiers once more, heralding a rebirth of the the mercenary group. Vessels Civilian
Currently self-funded and reliant on the open market, the Knights of the Forlorn Hope find themselves most frequently in possession of CTE line strike craft, making use of the agility of the Eagle and it's bomber counter part, the Roc to exert their will in the theater of operations. Lightweight, nimble and cheap, these ships are a common sight. Borderworld
Owing to their frequent involvement in the Edge Worlds and beyond, the members of the Forlorn Hope have an affinity for the Borderworlds series shiplines, with clear favorites being the Sabre and Falchion. Ignoring the continued existence of the Cutlass, it becomes apparent that the Forlorn Hope has clear views on firepower and mobility, choosing to continue fielding the more agile Roc over the heavier bomber. Consequently, the Falchion has recently become more popular with the pilots, while the Sabre remains a common choice. Military Grade
The legacy of it's previous incarnation, the Forlorn Hope retains access to a small arsenal of military grade snubcraft, namely the Core's Marlin and the Crayterian Nyx. These ships are currently held in reserve as they undergo repair and recommission, their long period of hanger time working against fielding them without issue. Warships
Despite being a small organization of snub pilots, the Forlorn Hope understands that the dangers of space often require more force than a bomber can bring to bear. As a result the Forlorn Hope carefully hides its most valuable assets from view. A jump-capable Bustard carrier serves as the Forlorn Hope's mobile HQ, as well a delivery system for its snub-craft. The second large warship that the Forlorn Hope is capable of fielding is it's experimental Thanatos cruiser. Purchased in the height of its previous incarnations power, the Forlorn Cruiser is currently undergoing extensive refits to bring it more inline with the groups views of a strike cruiser. Code of Conduct Having been re-imagined as a martial order similar to the old holy orders of Earth, the code that the members of the Forlorn followed has evolved as well, reflecting their new natures more accurately.
