The newest Zephyr-Class vessel, Iapetus was constructed by the request of Crayter Intelligence Service tp act as a mobile base of operations for various operatives. Entered into active service by the start of 826 A.S., the Generation-3 Zephyr-Class Carrier is outfitted with various experimental weaponary and strategic utility tools, ranging from rare, non-Crayter origin weaponary to FTL Drive, a rather common equipment found on Crayter warships nowadays. Noticeable upgrades over Mark II and short-lived Mark III Carriers are, reinstallment of direct engagement heavy weaponary aboard the vessel and abandoning the autonomous drones altogether to make space for an improved powercore. Using the newly engineered Xiphos-IV Powercore, the vessel is powered even more efficiently than before for the same space used on Mark II Zephyrs. Combining the smaller cross-section of Zephyr with devastating weaponary, Iapetus is a force to be reckoned with according to CDI Engineers worked alongside Intelligence. Albeit rumors exists that it lacks Iridium-infused Molybdenium plating traditional Crayter vessels use, it is still armored enough to withstand some degree of strain. Improved CHN-D22 Engines provide better acceleration and more efficient cruise mode, drawing lesser power from the ship and provides a more stabilized flight inside harsh corners of Tau region. As a base of operations during Intelligence missions, the vessel is heavily automated and thus, gotten rid of some sections of crew quarters and converted some sections of living areas to a mini-command center and maintenance bays for extensive amounts of robotics used within the ship. While it is known the vessel is operated by Intelligence solely, what kind of missions the vessel partakes is unknown even to most decorated of Fleet personnel.
