To: The Hellfire Legion. From: John Blake. - Enkidu - 01-16-2019 I’m just an independent Libertonian of leisure looking out for number one, yet I’ve got some sympathies with your people. A Hellfire Legion patrol picked me up after my ship was shot down by the Rogues during the battle of California Minor way back in the day. I try to remember the people who do right by the little guy. My business takes me out as far as Bering. I’m going to tell you what my business is, since it isn’t relevant to what you’re doing out here. I managed to pick up some traffic that might be… unusual. Nothing as solid as logs and shots – I wasn’t prepared to get close enough for that. Not in a sunbeam. The less-than-well-lit parts of the independent worlds are crawling with rumours that something big is going down. There’s Unioner ships heading in and out of the independent worlds. There’s even rumours about Rheinland battleships with them, if you can believe that, rogue raiding parties, destroyers, even the odd Lane Hacker and more besides. Nobody knows quite what they’re doing but they’re all parties that leak like a junker pressure hull. Even a few vessels I couldn’t name or ID if you handed me their designations. The nugget is, most of the activity wasn’t down near the Freeport, Marshal or Pacifica, where you’d expect those groups to have an interest. They were all up near the Texas connections. I figured that might be of some use to you. If you asked me, I'd be willing to say they're going to make a push for you, real soon. I've only ever seen Navy fleets with this many ships. Never with this many ship classes, types, or organisations contributing. Anyhow, you heard nothing from me. - John Blake.
