Hello from the other side - snowkid_23 - 06-21-2019

Long time Freelancer fan, tried Discovery years ago. Getting back into it now (hopefully).

I seem to be having a problem logging in though. I created my character, but when I enter, it just kicks me back out to the character screen (Connection to the server has been lost.)

Any ideas (or point me to the right thread)?

Looks like you've possibly gotten banned somehow, or caught in a range-ban.

That can happen for various reasons, not all your own fault.

Make sure you didnt install other mods apart form discovery, and didnt mess with game files to get some sort of advantage from it. That will make the anti-cheat auto-ban you.

Then post in this thread: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=91864

You'll need to give some sort of info so admins can identify you, like a character/ship name.

Thanks! I made the post, but it doesn't show up yet -- I'm assuming that it will become visible once it's been seen by an admin (?)

Anyway, looking forward to playing again -- see you all out there.

In 70% of the cases ban is made on IP address you are using atm (honestly I have no idea how bans work here but on my server worked way I will describe) and if nothing is connected to the launcher you are using , you can just delete a game then delete My Games folder which you will find in Documents and then try to restart your router and hope. It depends on what kind of IP address you are using if you have dynamic IP it could have happened that you just felt into the banned IP and then restart will help if you IP is static it mean you done something in your past that made you banned. I will give you the example:
(dynamic IP) your IP address at the moment could be 87.98.10.4 and person banned had the same IP so when you restart your router it will assign you new IP address e.g. 87.98.5.28 and if that IP was not banned on the server you will be able to play if for some strange case admins made a range ban e.g. 87.98.*.* all IP addresses from 87.98.1.1 to 87.98.254.254 are banned and then router restart might not help you obviously it can happen that your IPS uses another IPS to get IP assigned so if your IP was 87.98.10.4 now it might change in 89.20.10.3 and if that IP is not banned you will be able to play.

(static IP) however if you got static IP address even after you restart the router your IP will be the same it wont change (usually happens when someone is using ipv6 protocol) so your IP will only be yours and that mean you did something wrong in your past that made you get banned.

As I specified above I dont actually know if discovery freelancer has his own sort of "serial key" so that every single player is identified and its different from all other player (this could be a nice find out to keep cheater a bay) so in that case admin might be able to see what actually happened.
Hope you all havent fallen asleep xD
Cheers Tongue
