Are diamonds about to go full bull?

The price of diamonds reached its brief peak during the Liberty-Rheinland war. But since then the prices have stabilised and diamonds positions are rare among professional investors. Now there are signs that things are about to change.

Omega 11 was the main source of diamonds in Sirius, where despite exceedingly difficult conditions great wealth was extracted from the molten rock just barely out of the Red giant’s deadly reach. Now the diamond markets’ foundations are gone. In spite this the prices remain in the same range, having only briefly exceeded the resistance trendline since the supernova. This could be due to what investors and traders perceive as possible signs of a Daumann diamonds stockpile held in reserve, waiting for the prices to rise. Another possibility is that the discovery of Omega 2 keeps the prices in check.

Uncertainty remains regarding the feasibility of mining operations in Omega 2 due to hostile presence, along with the lack of established Jumpgate connection — historically such systems often remained underdeveloped lawless zones for extended periods of time. Jumphole travel is fraught with dangers with many a ship never re-emerging from within the vortex.

If operations in Omega 2 are to produce a sustainable flow of diamonds to match the now extinguished stream of Omega 11 (which took four centuries to develop fully with constant investement) a permanent base will have to be established there. Such a task may take years if not the better part of a decade. In the meantime, we can only expect occasional shipments of diamonds from the system; just enough to supplement the likely revitalised planetary mining.

All in all, this might be a good time to get into diamonds trading — the futures market could prove lucrative for entrepreneuring spirits with bank accounts small and large.
We shall continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed.
