D'Huum Tu Vong Roleplay Info - D'huum Tu Vong - 07-16-2019 D'huum Tu Vong Naming Convention
The D'huum Tu Vong naming convention revolves around predation, domination and swarms. You could expect names such as: D'huum|Devourer; D'huum|Hungerer; D'huum|Predator; D'huum|Slaver; D'huum|Locust; D'huum|Wingmender; D'huum|BroodMother. This does not mean all ships will follow this naming convention, exceptions are always a chance after all, but the majority is expected to adhere to this style. D'huum Tu Vong Interaction Guide
The D'huum Tu Vong have only recently arrived in Sirius and the ones that did are mere scouts. Due to this they will mostly focus on exploring the systems of the Sirius sector (within their ZoI of course) and hide their hostile intent from their Nomad counterparts until fleets arrive from the Aurora sector (read: officialdom is obtained). Interactions with humans will, from the D'huum Vu Tongs perspective, be met with anything ranging from curiosity (and thus destruction) to indifference. This is due to them considering finding Nomads and their nests a far greater priority. D'huum Tu Vong Roleplay Guide
The D'huum Tu Vong are a different kind of Nomad from the K'hara and Vagrants, both of which have their own unique style of portraying their alien nature. What distinguishes them the most compared to the D'huum Tu Vong though is their exposure to humanity. Lacking this experience, the D'huum Tu Vong are simple, bordering on primal in comparison with their ability to communicate. Expect anything ranging from basic images being projected to ships to bring across ideas or demands, to loud audible screams of fury getting picked up by comms as they engage their enemies. To provide an example, this is what it would look like if a D'huum Tu Vong wanted a specific item in someones hold, like a nomad power cell. D'huum|Devourer: *An image appears of the item in your cargo hold. It appears to be floating in space, the image pans to show your ship heavily damaged* D'huum|Devourer: *A loud high pitched scream spikes the comm systems as the creature powers its weapons and moves towards you* It makes no demand, the concept of the pilot potentially being willing to drop the item in return for his or her life does not even cross the mind of the D'huum Tu Vong. It simply projects what it considers is about to happen and starts to act in order to make that prediction a reality. Should the pilot interpret the vision however and act swiftly and accordingly, for example by dropping the item, the D'huum Tu Vong will scoop it up (or destroy it) and leave satisfied. As the D'huum Tu Vong are currently only scouting out the Sirius sector, it seems unlikely, though not impossible, that any D'huum| vessel larger than a cruiser will be seen for now. D'huum Tu Vong Infect-ception
Nomad Infection disclaimer The D'huum Tu Vong infect nomads, that is their whole unique hook. This does not mean however that Nomad characters will become infected by interacting with D'huum Tu Vong. During the scout period the D'huum Tu Vong are not actively trying to infect people, and even should the faction reach officialdom, no player character will ever be infected unless the player in question wants it to happen. This means that infection is mostly limited to npc's for message dumps and rp, as well as any Nomad player that wants to (S)RP being an infected Nomad. Due to the D'huum Tu Vong origin in the Aurora sector, a steady supply of D'huum Tu Vong will be available to be played without having the oorp need of consuming and infecting every Nomad that exists. This way we wish to ensure that the existing Nomad players can do as they want and continue their rp without being forced to lose what they have worked for or risk losing their rp. Nomad Infection The D'huum Tu Vongs ability to infect Nomads is brutal and efficient; by infecting a Nomads physical shell via what is essentially a biological computer virus, the D'huum Tu Vong alter the very DNA of the Nomad itself. These changes result in ripping it away from it's original mindshare and linking it with the D'huum Tu Vong. The more a Nomad attempts to resist this process, the longer and more excruciating it becomes. Should a Nomad manage to sever its connection with its shell on time it might, theoretically, be able to prevent the infection from taking hold (this is typically how D'huum will inrp explain a player character not being infected). The D'huum Tu Vong have had no presidence of this up to their arrival in Sirius. Human Infection The D'huum Tu Vong have nowhere near the experience and refinement of infecting humans that K'hara, or even the Vagrants, have. You could consider the difference between the skill of the other Nomads in this and the D'huum Tu Vong as a surgeon wielding a scalpel to a butcher with a cleaver. Humans infected by the D'huum Tu Vong look zombified with glowing blue veins and milky white eyes, scars covering their body. These terrifying abominations are the 'lucky survivors' of the infection procedure. D'huum Tu Vong infected humans are a rarity as the swarm seldom bothers with humans, currently not considering them to be of worth. Related Pages
