Mr.Trakais SpaceTech Shop - Trakais - 07-19-2019

Welcome to my Equipment shop.
Many of you hawe seen my shop, thats in orbit of planet Manhattan. Idea of opening that shop was, that there would be always a place, where new players can look for equipment, thats sold also on another playerbases too. Of course- there are many other shops, who selling various equipment. And manufacturing.
In future im planning set up some manufacturing modules, so at this time shop is expanding. and- if youre interested- you can help with deliveries.
(its suggested first to check base info page and see what is needed and what is already delivered)

-Good for him to come over.

Captain Trakais's son enters the Command Center

-Father! Long time no see!
-Yes, John, I know. You had your stuff in order.
-Yes, Sigma has a lot of news, but that's not why I'm here. I've brought you something.
- Alright, what do you have?

John disappears for a moment in a nearby room, then returns with a small box beside him.

-What is it? You know I don't want any weapons on my base...
- Don't worry, it's just ...

John opens the box and a pair of antennas and strange looking switches which stand out.

-It is an interdimensional ship radar. When I was still working on my last project, a freelancer gave me this; turned out he didn't need it anymore. Can you take a look at it?
- I'll see what I can do, but you know... many things are gone.
-What happened, dad?
- Most of my equipment is lost. I'm afraid we don't have enough resources to have a lab, but now you see what we have here ...

Cpt. Trakais With a worried look, Crazy casts his eye on the base corners.

-I only own this humble shop, my small business.

John glances at the shabby walls and some boxes with his belongings.

-Okay, I'll talk to my fund manager, maybe he can suggest something.

Cpt. Trakais disappears into a dark hallway.

John thinks about the situation for a moment, then silently follows the direction his father went.

A new day. About 7 in the morning.
Captain Trakais woke up a little earlier this morning to take a look at any new incoming messages in the Communications Room.
John doesn't sleep well either, and wanders aimlessly around the base.

- Hey John, could you come over for a moment?

-Alright.

After a while John enters the communication room, sipping his morning coffee.

-John, we've got news. The SpaceTech consulting team will arrive in New York tomorrow.Miss Rona says that she may be staying in Manhattan - they have a conference there.

-Which Rona? Rona my flight colleague from back in the day?

-Yeah, same.

-She now works for The SpaceTech Foundation?

-Yeah, John. For some time now. Her father was my business partner at OSC for several years.

-Hmm, interesting. Why didn't I knew anything about this...

-That was 15 years ago, when your mother died and you were very busy with your new job in Sigma-19...

-Hmm, interesting.. Is there something else?

-Not in particular. The security officer just said there was something overnight. An attempt to attack our security protocols.

-Anything serious?

-No, but for safety's sake, let's check everything out.

- Okay, let me know if there is anything new regarding that.

-Okay, John.

-John, the news are here. The SpaceTech team has arrived in Manhattan. Rona is here, too.

-Okay. I'll take the shuttle. Do you need something from town?

-No, Rona is HERE- in the guest lounge. She has arrived an hour ago.

-Oh, then I ...

-And tell her my financial statements, maybe she's interested in them.

John takes a red folder from the desk and goes in the guest room.

-It's me, John- can I come in?

-Yes, come in.

John enters the room and finds himself hugged by Rona. He feels even a little embarrassed.

-I'll make some tea, come take a seat. What's new?

-I'm surprised to meet you here. Yesterday I found out that youre working at SpaceTech.

-Yes, it happened recently after graduation from the Flight College. I'm a data analyst. Though thats not important right now. How have you been?

- I worked for a good amount of time at Liner Hawaii in the Sigmas. I only recently returned ...

- For good?

-Not sure. I've run out of contracts, probably staying here for a while is the best course of action. Maybe I'll stay here and help dad with his business.

John puts a red folder on the desk and looks at Ron shily. She hasn't changed since graduation from the Flying College. Dark brown eyes, hair ...

"Okay, I'll look into it tonight," says Rona. I need to be in Manhattan by day.

-Heard SpaceTech will have a conference there.

-Yes. Developing business models and gaining new business partner contacts.

-Sounds interesting...

-Yeah it is, maybe if you want- come with me. I'll get you a pass. You can accompany me.

-Oh? Sure! Why not. I'll get to know the city at times. When are we leaving?

-After half an hour.

-So soon? Alright.

Around the evening John returns to the base.

-Well, John? Asked John's father as the day went by.

-It was interesting. I also had time to explore the city. A lot of things have changed in Manhattan.

- How was the conference?

- There was a lot of talk about the cooperation with Britany and space travel security aspects. Rona's father from New London also arrived. She introduced me to him.

-Oh, Robert.. and is he still on Manhattan?

-No, Rona said SpaceTech had something to do in New London. The team is already going back.

-That's sad. I would like to talk with Robert. We haven't met in a long time.

-There still is the chance. They promised to visit us pretty soon

- Okay, then we'll see ...

I studied the financial statements you gave me. I have some ideas on how we can improve many things on the base.

We can slightly extend the maintenance bay and even make some rooms for engine diagnostics.

You still need a market specialist. I can help with marketing. I'd be happy to do that.

Concerning the rebuilding of the base, my father has a conceptual model that he would discuss with you, Thomas.

I will tell you more when we'll meet.

John enters his father's communication room.

-Hey, any news?

-A couple of customers came in the morning, but it's nothing special.

-Okay, then maybe I'll fly to Manhattan to bring some food for our crew...

-Wait on, John! I seem to see a known ship near our base on the radar ...

-Hello? This is Captain Trakais. Rona, Robert - is that you?

-Yeah, Thomas, haven't seen you in a while. We're starting the landing procedure, see you in a few minutes.

John and his father head over to the platform where Rona and Robert meet them.

-Hey, Thomas. I haven't seen you in a while.

Robert greets Thomas, followed by John. Rona also greeting both.

-John, take Rona to show our kitchen. Prepare something for yourself, I'll take Robert on a small tour of the base.

John and Rona start talking and going in the direction of the kitchen.

-And how are you doing?

-Oh, so much work for Bretonia now. I have a couple of days off so I was able to arrive.
I mostly repair engines. Both in New London and on planet Curacao. They have good equipment there.

- Yeah, I already have a small shop here, maintenance bay is not very developed though.

-The Maintenance bay can store some equipment in the warehouse, it will save some space then. And you could replace the 4th dock
with a Jumpdrive factory.

-Jumpdrive factory? I was just thinking I could extend engine diagnostics ...

-Thomas .. New York is a strategically beneficial place to repair engines and produce jump drives.
And you are no longer alone. John will also be able to help. What do you say?

-I don't know. maybe ...

-Come on! I'll show you my concept in detail...

As they speak, Thomas and Roberts have reached the command center, where John and Rona are already meeting them.

- Come on, we made breakfast for you too - says Rona. John helps her put the breakfast on the table.

Robert and Thomas were having breakfast as they discussed about upgrading the Base.

"I don't think there should be any problems," says Robert.
We need to buy some materials: Optronic Arrays, Quantum Arrays,
Magnetic Superconductors, Critical Temperature Alloys, and some Robotic Hardware.
And hire some scientists of course.

-Sounds good, but what could be the approximate cost?

-We should probably hire some Liberty transportation company to help with
material delivery. With all the material costs that could be a little over 200 million.

At this point Rona intervenes:
- I contacted our SpaceTech foundation manager. they are ready to make the transfer
whenever it will be needed. They will be happy to help.

Thomas looks at John, thinks a bit, then says,
- Alright, John. Thomas and I will go to Manhattan for some food and commodities, you and Rona-
please deal with all the formalities. It is necessary to prepare the warehouse and inform
the manager. Understood? Thomas lets go.

Thomas and Robert leave while John and Rona stay in the Communications Room

-Rona, I sent a message to Universal Shipping. Hopefully they are not too busy and will respond soon.

-Yeah- I think there's no reason to worry. Alright; John, since there is nothing to do - I'll go to Manhattan. I need to buy some things as souvenirs.

- Okay, in the meantime I'm going to the warehouse to talk about possible deliveries and I need to meet the docking bay lead-engineer.

John quickly gets up and accidentally almost knocks down Rona.

-Careful John!

Rona shouts and in the last moment hugs John.

They are looking at each other's eyes and this moment feels like infinity for both of them.
John feels confused.

-Rona? I ...

-Don't say anything.

Says Rona as she gives John a kiss. He seems unable to resist, then he looks in Rona's eyes giving her a kiss in return.
Rona places her palm to Johns cheek and makes a smile.

- See you later, John!
Rona shakes hand and walks towards the dock bay.

-What a day, what a day...

Says John to himself and sits down.

At noon, Thomas and Robert return to the base.

-John, is there any news?

-Yes, dad. I was in the warehouse and met the lead-engineer at the docking bay.
Everything is ready now. Universal Shipping sent a message that
they can deliver goods for a bit higher price. Something related to security risks.

-What did the SpaceTech Manager say?

-He agreed.

-Okay. We brought some Reinforced alloy and some food with Thomas this time.

-You can go now, Maybe there will be something to do.

Thomas and Robert are unpacking delivered items.
John heads toward his room. As he walked down the hallway, he suddenly hears the sound of a flute.
They come from Rona's room. John approaches the door and knocks.

-Rona, is that you?

-Yeah, John. You can come in.

John enters the room and meets Rona playing the flute.

-I didn't know you were into music.

-Sometimes when I don't have too much work at SpaceTech. I'm trying to be in Bretonia and participate in concerts with the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra. My mother lives near Cambridge Philharmonic, so
I'm using these moments to visit her too. We'll have a concert in a few days.

Rona puts the flute down and comes to John.

-John, would you like to go with me to Cambridge? Just for a few days. I would be very happy.

-That's interesting idea. I'll just ask my father- if he'll be able to handle all things here alone.

-John, I see we have progressed

-Yeah. The Jumpdrive factory is complete. We managed to integrate it with our warehouse.
But better come and see it yourself.

John and his father walk around the new factory, looking around.

-I was contacted with universal shipping and maybe we will be developing the first test model soon,
if they will help with some deliveries.

-That's great news. I hope we will have a good relation with Robert. And Rona
already helping with suggestions, isn't it, John?

-Yes, without her advice and suggestions we would not have come this far with the base upgrade.
I wanted to ask you something...

-Yeah, John?

-Rona and Robert return tomorrow to Bretonia. She invited me for a couple of days
to visit Cambridge. Could you look out for the base for those days?

-Yeah, John. No problem... It seems she means something for you?

-Yeah, I like to spend time with her...

-'Kay, no problem- you can go with her. I'll handle things here.
