Genesis Research Group Database - Genesis Research Group - 10-11-2019 Genesis Research Group Database.
This is the database of the Genesis Research Group. Here we keep the blueprints of vessels and special equipment, weaponry that we are in posses off. This database will be in constant change, as things may be added or changed, based on our needs. Light Fighters
The Reapers borrowed from the Border Worlds design line of fighters for inspiration to create their own fighters. The "Skeleton" Light Fighter incorporates the "Scimitar's" design features into a sleek and agile vehicle that nevertheless packs a significant punch in firepower. The Reapers custom designed a propulsion system that is more fuel efficient than the Border Worlds ship line, but still performs admirably in the rigors of combat.
It may be classified as a light fighter, but there is nothing light about this ship. With its expanded power capacity and armor rating the Scimitar has all of the muscle required to survive in the harsh frontier of the Border Worlds and even Edge Worlds. An excellent choice for those craving adventure.
An old design that has been continuously updated and upgraded, the Surveyor is one of the few ships that still has its roots back in Sol. A large number of these vessels was loaded on each sleeper ship, designed to allow the fledgeling colonies to quickly send out scouts, in order to seek out resources that could be used to make the new colonies prosper. Lightly armed and armored, these craft depend more on agility than endurance to perform their jobs. Typically armed with a limited number of concussion torpedoes, a few light blasters, a small mining laser and sampling equipment, a Surveyor's primary task is to seek out the richest pockets of high grade resources, so the larger mining vessels can come in and harvest them. The torpedoes are generally used to break up larger asteroids, but threatened miners have been known to employ them defensively. Cheap to operate, a number of companies have begun using the Surveyor as an auxiliary mining vessel, using it to speed up existing mining operations without risking more costly assets.
The FEUERBALL is a slow-firing, massively overcharged plasma cannon developed by a small Rheinland engineering company, Kessler GmbH, on the basis of the widely used Flammenwerfer series in the late 790's. After the Nomad crisis, Kessler was forced to file for bankrupcy after producing only a few hundred of the weapons. Today, the few surviving examples are hard to come by and highly sought after.
Heavy Fighters
The Bayonet, as it has come to be known, was in development for almost two decades. Blending traditional Border Worlds ship technologies with state of the art systems designed in collaboration with Lane Hacker technicians, it brings an exquisite mixture of firepower, armor and speed to the battlefield. The vessel's oversized heatsinks play host to a dizzying array of sensitive electronic surveying and splicing equipment, allowing it to maintain the role of a dedicated intelligence gatherer while its more combat orientated brethren dominate the battlefield.
This rugged ship is the product of a harsh time for the Sirius sector, cold and brutal like the space through which it flies. Generally considered crude by wealthier pilots, the Jackdaw is usually just the right tool for a less-scrupulous individual. Its raw speed keeps the vessel competitive with more well-endowed fighters of a comparable size. As a bonus, spare parts are often cheap and easy to acquire.
Crafted by a group of enterprising Zoner engineers seeking to innovate the next generation of deep space escort vessels: the King Fisher sought to address many of the perceived issues that plagued the lauded Eagle which dominated the heavy escort market. Unfortunately the results of this endeavor fell short of expectations. The vessel's five overpowered engines, designed to meet the sluggish responses imposed by her equally overpowered generator core, competed to ultimately starve the vessel's weapon grid in turn warding off more than the most casual interest by Zoner or Core military interests and dooming the vessel to live within the shadow of the far more efficient Eagle. However, her simple borderworld design and civilian power rating attracted a show of interest within a number of manufacturers seeking to attract roaming freelancers and showboat daredevils.
The Reapers designed the "Wight" Heavy Fighter to function as an all purpose interceptor, effective at interdicting large vessels until backup arrives, and capable of tangling with very heavy fighters for short periods. The "Wight" acted as the Reapers' first line of defense, and the backbone of their strike forces.
An upscale version of the Scimitar, this ship is classified as a heavy fighter, and she is meant to take enterprising souls where the scimitar can't. With improved power core, heavier armor, better shields, and the capability of delivering far more firepower, this girl will help a brave pilot find fortune in the BorderWorlds and Edge Worlds.
None specified Bombers
While technically the second ship of the HFX line, the Broadsword class is in all actuality a pair of cunningly designed self contained power generators developed for modular mounting upon the light frame of the Falchion. Whereas lesser bomber designs require the development of entirely new frames, which results in even more time and resources spent on R&D, the Broadsword pods contain sympathetic thrust and attitude mechanisms that respond in time with the movements of her mother ship and provide excessive power which is used to support bomber class weaponry. This next-generation ship is finetuned for frantic combat situations and high-speed strikes against all opposition a pilot might face on the battlefield, a role in which it excels more than the venerable "Falcata" Bomber. Similar to the Falchion however, the Broadsword class has retained a large part of the very sensitive internal components and is even more costly to maintain. Aside from those costs, a further turn-off might be the very limited cargo hold, which makes this ship even less attractive to all kinds of freelance pirates. Nevertheless, if there's a target that needs a good dose of "shotgun diplomacy," the Broadsword is a fine choice.
Developed by Ageira with significant BMM participation, the Havoc Mk II is an advanced modification of the first "Havoc", bomber model that was popular in Liberty and Bretonia about 350 years ago. Mk II version features an advanced power array and increased agility compared to other modern bombers. While Ageira initially planned to sell the new Havoc only to Liberty Navy and Bretonia Armed Forces, company executives soon understood that this ship could make a lot of profit on alternative markets.
Ironically labelled a 'civilian' bomber by its Libertonian designers, who also developed such classics as the 'Eagle' fighter, there is little civil about this piece of kit. This ship is now being used by various civilian corporations that find themselves being pirated by gunboats and similar, who purchase this ship from construction yards or build it themselves after acquiring the rights to its patent. Also of note is the rather large amount of these ships found in the possession of criminal organisations such as the Xenos in Liberty and the Golden Chrysanthemums in Kusari space. This may indicate that these groups are able to cannibalise the hulls of their Eagles and modify them to make them into bombers, or that they have more financial support for their military machines than lawmen would have previously imagined. Seen all over Sirius, in the hands of corporations, criminals, Zoners and Freelancers, this bomber is a versatile piece of equipment, handy for those that all-too-often find themselves on the wrong end of big guns.
With an influx of Capital Class vessels, the men and women of action in the Border Worlds and Edge Worlds required a ship that could hold its own in the dangerous environment. Boasting more power and armor than the Series Z, and the additional fire power of an extra torpedo slot, the Cutlass has become the bane of bounty hunters and criminals alike. Designed more for hit and run raids against convoys or running skirmishes with capital ships than for head on assaults against fleets, the Cutlass possesses less armor than the Falcata, but boasts greater agility and thus, supposedly, equal or greater survivability for its pilot.
Based loosely on an old, unpopular bomber design, the "Waran" still bears the name of the vessel it has come to replace. Many rumors circulate about it's origins. Some say Junkers mated the powercore of the old Waran to the Raven's Talon frame. Some say the Independent Miners secretly constructed this bomber as a craft for unscrupulous clients such as the Lane Hackers. Whatever the origin, the result is a sturdy bomber capable of unleashing withering firepower on a hapless target. As with all bombers, this ship maneuvers poorly for a craft of its size. Nevertheless, its firepower and widespread availability found quick popularity with the "more power, more guns, fewer problems" crowd, which it turned out included virtually anyone interested in blowing things up. From Junkers to Gaians to Bundschuh to Xenos, this ship has found universal employment by pilots for whom style is not a concern.
None specified Very Heavy Fighters
The Reapers' small combat force required more versatile ship designs than those provided in the Border Worlds series. To compensate, the Reapers' new ships removed some of the automation technology and used the space to improve their fighter's maneuverability. Enhanced aerodynamics allowed the Reapers to use their very heavy fighter for planetary actions, enabling them to defend Planet Braillia both in space and in the atmosphere using the same squadrons. This capability also made their attack squadrons a credible threat to the planetary installations of their enemies. While, in most cases, only space based fighters are scrambled to meet the threat of incoming fighter raids, detection of a flight of Reapers required both space and atmospheric defense forces to be deployed, vastly increasing the resource drain that the Reapers could cause among their foes merely by making an appearance in hostile regions.
As commerce and some economic freedoms began to flood the Border Worlds, so did greater access to technology and the need for change. The Sabre is the fruit of the Border Worlds' ingenuity and pure capitalism coalesced into one lethal embodiment. This ship boasts enormous power capacity as well as extreme defensive capability.
As mining operations pushed outward, the limitations of the Surveyor quickly became apparant to the fledgeling colonies. It was not suited to retrieve a large amount of cargo, and it could not operate autonomously for more than a few days, which limited their operations to roughly 50 kilometers around a friendly port. This hurt Kusari in particular - which was already starting to near the limits of the asteroid fields in range of New Tokyo. Samura engineers began modifying a few Surveyor ships, adding a dedicated mining array in a forward assembly, and replacing the existing one with additional storage and life support. Thus the "Risosugyazara" was born in 180 AS, although it quickly gained the nickname "Scraper" among it's pilots. As it was still far from clear whether the colonies would thrive, Kusari, in a never repeated act of generosity, shared the design with all the four Houses, so that humanity itself would have a better chance at survival. The design was quickly adopted in all of Sirius. Although over the years improvements have been made, the basic design is still the same. A small mining array and processor in the nose of the craft can pre-refine most minerals, and the robotic claws that provide its nickname can still be employed to latch the vessel to a medium sized asteroid, while either concussion torpedos or a large-scale blaster tears it to pieces. As with the Surveyor, miners have been known to employ their tools defensively, and over the years the upsurge in piracy has prompted mining companies to fit some defensive weapons to their Scrapers.
An entirely new shipline which has its origins in old Border world experimental designs, the HFX series' development was quick and completely unrelated to the one of the "Bayonet" Heavy Fighter. While the series seems to bear some external design similarities, in particular the so-called "boxiness", to current Borderworld ships, the ships are not built for general versatility, but instead for top-of-the-line performance in combat situations. While the ship's frame is incredibly stable, the newly designed internal components are very sensitive to all kinds of dirt and damage, making the costs to maintain the ship and keep it operational almost three times as high as for a comparable ship of its class.
INFORMATION CLASSIFIED.

Prototype pulse weapon of non-human origin. The TDGWM5K gets its unwieldy name from a single decoded string in the weapon's designation code. It is a pulse weapon calibrated for very high refire rate, well beyond typical equivalents. Despite its mysterious origins, it is manufactured to be compatible with typical human hardpoints.
The ACROBATIC is a high-tech design loosely based on older Bounty Hunter technology. A limited production run was produced by Archeos, a Kusari consumer electronics company known for stylish but overpriced products. The small batch sold out before the first weapon was even delivered, and those still on the market command a hefty premium among collectors.
Super Heavy Fighters
The Spatial is often employed by mining faction, to explore asteroid fields deep inside the borderworlds. While being as large as some freighters, the Spatial sacrifices cargo space in favor of additional equipment options. Dual mine launchers and the ability to power a single bomber-class torpedo make this craft formidable, yet it's sluggish maneuverability and large size often leave it very vulnerable in combat. The Spatial is capable of sustained flight beyond a system's heliosphere to an adjacent system, posessing the cold sleep and life support systems to maintain up to five persons for years of sustained travel. The craft is equipped with multiple long burn Ageira engines, any of which are capable of powering the craft independantly. This ship can be retrofitted with special mining equipment, to glean an additional yield from mineral deposits in space.
Aiming to fulfill the same goal as the original "Osprey" design, the Mark II is considered state of the art Zoner engineering. Specifically redesigned and upgraded to survive harsher environments than its predecessor, and to act as a heavier support role for convoys, the Mark II has become one of the most popular escort vessels amongst Zoner pilots within a very short time. Osprey Mark II, unlike the original Osprey design or the Kingfisher, no longer relies on manoeuvrability or a slim profile, and instead provides a heavier power core, increased fire power, and reinforced hull plating which despite resulting in a bulkier design has considerably enhanced the survivability of the vessel compared to its older models.
The first attempt at creating an autonomous deep space mining vessel rolled off the production line at Edison Shipyard, Colorado around 312 AS. A direct result of the Colorado Silver Rush, many smaller entrepreneurs wishing to risk their fortunes on striking silver invested their entire savings into one of these vessels. Capable of self-sustained deep-space flight for over 3 months, the vessel is considered to be autonomous within a solar system. It does not have the capability to bridge the stars themselves unassisted, however. Edison Shipyard flourished for over two centuries, its interior construction bays filling orders of these craft as fast as it could produce them. As word of these vessels spread to the other Houses (in no small part due to Interspace pushing it's trade lane network outward) additional orders began to pour in. The ship has been upgraded over the years, but the basic framework has remained the same. A generous crew compartment capable of housing five people, adequate regenerative life support systems, and a cargo pod capable of storing up to three months worth of provisions have all been added. Three independent reactors keep the craft's systems powered, and allow for the strongest defensive measures a ship of its size can muster.
None specified Gunboats
Designed with a generous power supply and adequate armor, the CTE-12400 Condor is still a rare sight in Sirius. The ship is a new design adapted from an obsolete Zoner model. Built and maintained by various organisations unable to develop or acquire military ships, the Condor is typically used for heavy escort, or, in the hands of terrorists, to deal with a heavy escort.
This hardened Zoner transport is used to traverse regions of the borderworlds where diplomacy often takes a back seat to the gun. Upgraded in the face of heightening galactic tensions, many of the vessel's industrial tools were exchanged for stronger armaments. With these new refinements in mind, the Zoners removed the gunboat from sale on the open market, reserving the limited numbers of the newly produced vessel for protection of their own convoys.
As multiple conflicts spilled out into the Borderworlds, those who braved this untamed frontier found themselves in need of something with a larger punch then even the proven Sabre. Border Worlds' engineers decided to use the existing Series Z as a model for a larger vessel. The Montante is the result of their ingenuity, an agile Light Gunship with strong offensive capabilities.

The Fearless-class forms the basis of Zoner defensive deployments. Originally a medium transport hull, the ship's cargo bays were filled with improved power relays to support more sophisticated weaponry than that usually accessible to transports. Smaller and more maneuverable in comparison with other ships of the same class, the Fearless has enough firepower and hull strength to keep most opponents at bay. This ship can be seen in many different regions of Sirius, guarding freeports, or protecting Zoner convoys.

This unusual cruiser weapon is a development by the mysterious “Cult of Technology”, and a very small number have been salvaged from their wreckages. The massive ion charge it fires neutralizes a target's power supply, draining huge amounts of energy from the ship's reactor. On a shielded vessel however, the neutralization will occur before affecting the ship's systems, making it suitable only against unprotected targets.
Very little information is available about this weapon.
Gallic prototype cruiser weapon, intended as a “finisher” on very close targets. The weapon has impressive power output, high speed and quick refire, but lacks range compared to similar guns.
Rapid-fire cruiser weapon of unknown origin. This “Repeater” turret is an allrounder weapon, suitable for use against a wide range of targets. It is technologically closely related to other cruiser weaponry of its type, but calibrated for a much higher fire rate.
Battleships/Carriers
Designed to explore the vast reaches of space beyond the last starbases and outposts, the Aquilon carrier is a large capital ship with modest defensive capabilities. It features a large bay that can house many smaller exploration ships, as well as some defensive fighters. A true Carrier ship, it does not have martial prowess of other capital ships of its size. The Aquilon is most effective when supporting friendly fighters from a distance.
Designed and manufactured to serve in dark corners of space where the closest friendly base is but a memory; the Bustard is a mobile retreat point intended for snubcraft operating away from friendly installations. The Bustard was designed with the intention of avoiding the sheer cost and quantity of resources manufacturing and maintaining a military carrier requires, and so, sacrificing combat capabilities of a warship, its design leans toward availability and ease of maintenance, and so becomes a practical choice of carrier for smaller groups lacking the means of maintaining an actual warship.

The new upgrade to the aging "Jinkusu"-class was named the "Nephilim", after a race of legendary giants. The Zoners have customized these vessels to fill multiple roles depending on the needs of crew, from heavy cargo transportation and logistics management, to miniature mobile freeports prowling the edges of known space. Due to their sheer size, ships of this class are expensive and slow to manufacture, but are designed to be in service for decades, justifying their great cost. The Zoners who travel into the unknown depths of space trust these ships to sustain them during long voyages, and thus outfit the ships to be capable of light industry and hydroponic food production during the voyage. The Nephilim is also capable of making planetfall and establishing a small colony. The new Nephilim is equipped with an expanded docking bay, upgraded navigational controls, and an improved defensive grid. Its reactor core is more efficient than the previous design, propelling the ship with the same power core used in the "Leviathan" class.
The Volée is a multi-shot, “shotgun”-type battleship defense weapon, designed to keep smaller away from the mighty Valor class. The Gallic capital ship doctrine focuses heavily on grand battleship warfleets, but the heavy, slow weaponry on these ships leaves them somewhat vulnerable to smaller, very close ships. The Volée was intended to alleviate this problem, but the doctrines have since changed to focus more on light support. Although a number of these weapons were produced, their fate is unknown.
The “Gale” is an ancient Corsair design, an ambitious project to create a weapon that is fast, powerful, and has extensive range. The design succeeded in meeting these goals, but politics prevented it from entering production, as the family supporting the development of the now-universal RA-72 used their greater influence and wealth to suppress the Gale's adoption. The prototypes, dusty but functional, were recently rediscovered in a centuries-old abandoned warehouse on Crete.
The Lewis is an archaic design, a true projectile weapon, firing 240mm explosive shells in a double-barrel configuration not unlike the weapons found on naval warships of the Sol era. Used heavily by Bretonia in the early centuries of colonization, these weapons were made obsolete by shield technology, which renders this type of weapon useless. Most Lewis cannons were destroyed, but a small number still remain in museums or forgotten armories. Against an unshielded target, they are still as effective as ever.
One of very few cooperative projects between Samura and Kishiro since the democratic coup, the Terminator was developed at the government's request as a very high powered capital weapon to deal with the Imperial's hit-and-run tactics. Although slower to fire than comparable weapons, the Terminator carries incredible damage potential with only a few hits.
Rheinland prototype battleship weapon which never advanced past early trials. The Sledge follows typical Rheinland trends: A very heavy, slow firing, high powered weapon suitable for use on Rheinland's massive battleships, and optimal against targets of equal size. The trials were promising, but the project was expensive and ultimately deemed unnecessary with the end of the Liberty conflict. A few of the remaining prototypes had apparently gone missing and have since shown up in unexpected places.
Very little is known about this weapon. Although it is clearly designed for use on human capital vessels, its origins are unknown. The weapon has a high firing rate, optimized for use against smaller targets.
Very little known on this weapon.
This unusual battleship weapon is a development by the mysterious “Cult of Technology”, and a very small number have been salvaged from their wreckages. The massive ion charge it fires neutralizes a target's power supply, draining huge amounts of energy from the ship's reactor. On a shielded vessel however, the neutralization will occur before affecting the ship's systems, making it suitable only against unprotected targets.
An incredibly heavy, unwieldy weapon, this turret is Rheinland's answer to the problem of heavily fortified stations. It is a true siege weapon, useless against any moving target, but its ability to tear down fortifications is unparalleled even by the heavy Cerberus type. Some say it was designed for a Liberty invasion which never materialized, but whatever its purpose, it was never used, and few exist today.
The MK-81 is a newly developed pulse-type weapon built by the Coalition. With enemies such as the Corsairs fielding many large warships, there was a need for a specialized weapon built specifically to take down heavy shielding on large targets. The MK-81 is not designed for precision shooting, but rather for creating a heavy barrage of powerful EMP fire, suppressing capital ships at long range.
This new design is a cooperative effort between the Red Hessians and the Coalition. Unlike most other capital weaponry, it is actually based on fighter and freighter turrets, scaled up massively to create a very rapid fire laser turret to engage small ships. Although the individual shots are weak, the sheer volume of fire the double barreled weapon provides makes it terrifyingly effective against any smaller craft threatening a red capital ship.
Freighters
In the frontier, the need for individuals to move great amounts of cargo securely is crucial. The Dromedary combines the best attributes of the Series Y and an entirely new reinforced structure and defensive matrix to yield and uncompromising solution for commerce and trade in the most rugged of areas.
A logical progression in the line of popular CTE vessels, their designer now offers a model more focussed on commerce than combat superiority. However, this freighter makes few compromises in the protection of valuable cargo, and it is being used from the familiar lanes of House space to the depths of the Edge worlds.
The one truth of the universe is that nothing lasts forever. No ship, no station is eternal. For centuries, the Mender and its ancestors have been on the front lines of humanity's battle against chaos and decay, and installations like Newark can attest to their value. Several companies claim to have built the original model that would later become the Mender. But in truth, within the simple, utilitarian frame of the Mender lies a mongrel ship born of all four Houses and their common need.
None specified Transports
Based in many ways upon the design philosophy employed by the GMG Kujira class transport, the ZBT is effectively a hardened radiation shell providing support for her massive engines to ferry her spacious cargo with unmatched agility. Forgoing traditional arms and armament, the Zoners rely instead upon their studiously cultivated diplomatic ties to assure the safety of the vessel. Sales of the ZBT are explicitly prohibited to non-Zoners and those vessels encountered flown under any other flag are assumed to have been acquired by nefarious means, and their destruction rewarded appropriately. The technology of its internal frame is held under strict secrecy and the ship's engine power that ensures it almost unmatched agility is also jealously guarded.
Built to endure and thrive in the harshness of the frontier, the DL series borderworld transport thrives in the corners of space where the safe delivery of essential supplies can spell the difference between life and death. Heavily armed and armored with a generous cargo bay, the commonly sold craft holds a softspot in the hearts of traders of all stripes and affiliations. From the burning orbs of the Omegas to the soft hues of Omicron Alpha to the mooring points of Newark Station, this is the ship of choice for the discerning Freelancer.
The Pelican and its predecessors have served the police forces and travel services of Sirius for centuries, safely ferrying prisoners and tourists to their destination and capable of turning would-be raiders into an impressive fireworks display. Modern Pelicans are built in a wide variety of configurations ranging from prisoner transports and raw material haulers to exploration vessels and luxury yachts. They have recently seen a surge in popularity among freelancers thanks to the specialized Cormorant variant, which allows for a smaller crew and heavier armor than the typical commercial versions.
