New Forum Layout Feedback - Avalanche - 10-15-2019 (11-10-2019, 01:22 AM)Alex. Wrote: Based originally on this idea we sat down and came up with a slightly different forum layout. Let me know if you have comments. Please use this thread for any immediate thoughts on the new forum layout which changed at 11:00pm on the 9th of November. Old contents I am proposing a new layout of subforums - https://i.imgur.com/20qtAUN.png To help visualise I have put the proposed format next to the current format https://i.imgur.com/ANEisqj.png Essentially reordered to put new life into the forums and the community as a whole. Ultimate aim is to increase in-game activity. For context, the two new subforums inside in the image are: The "Events" subforum explained further - [Pending] Event subforum consolidation proposal
The "Good Luck Out There" (subforum name not set in stone) subforum explained further - [Pending] Looking for players subforum proposal Please share your thoughts on this forum reordering below. RE: Discovery GC Forum Proposal v2 - Toaster - 10-15-2019 Looks cleaner and appears to be easier to navigate, too, especially for newcomers. Definitely a yes from me. RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - Dark_Knight - 10-15-2019 I really think there should be a amount of players online thing to the side of the forum, besides that good suggestions. Good idea. My original proposal simply involved subforum moving/renaming & creation. I am unsure what the effort/knowledge required is to put an online player count on the page too. RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - Mark_Brown - 10-15-2019 Hey I really like the new design idea, looks less messy and more introductive to the server itself. It'd be nice to have a timeline of everything the devs have put into the game i.e discovery's story from the wars, the base developments. Someone who looks at Discovery will want to see what this server brings and I think viewing the past will be good for the future and the past of people coming and going. I'd also like the community to have more say on the storyline input at least on the basics, and the devs have the fun of bringing that in their own vision to Discovery. Just a thought for the future maybe? But i'm good with that. You have my +1 Bellck. RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - Couden - 10-15-2019 I like it RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - Avalanche - 10-15-2019 (10-15-2019, 08:46 PM)Mark_Brown Wrote: Hey I really like the new design idea, looks less messy and more introductive to the server itself. Thanks for replying and your new ideas Mark! I do like that idea and it is one I would be happy to help build after this new proposal is either accepted, altered or declined by the powers that be. Thank you too Couden for the comment and vote! RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - James Greed - 10-15-2019 Looks cleaner. I sometimes still get lost on the current one, when looking for a subforum I rarely visit. +1 RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - Karlotta - 10-15-2019 In addition to what you proposed, I'd like to remind of other possible improvements in layout that will make it easier to find things for people new and old: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=154382&pid=1935905#pid1935905 (I also proposed removing the "discovery isnt playing fun alone" line after that post here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=154382&pid=1935927#pid1935927 but as usual it got ignored) One of the purported reasons why staff said they ignored my suggestions was that it wasnt filed under "player requests" in an invisible thread. If you think that is a terrible way of dealing with other people's ideas and suggestions, I would encourage you to say so here: https://discoverygc.com/forums/showthread.php?tid=172384 RE: How to get more activity in Discovery - Prysin - 10-15-2019 I strongly second the notion of a "online activity" tracker. Heck, if possible, could we see if there is possible to get a "most active system or region" tracker too? |
