LSF Intelligence Assessment: Order agent Commander Moreton - Moreton - 10-19-2019 Accessing LSF Intelligence Database ......... ......... File Downloading ........100% File Encryption: HIGH! Decrypting .........100% File Loading ......... ---------------------------------- Name: Daniel Moreton Birthplace: Planet Cambridge DoB: 02/13/798AS Occupation: Order officer Current Location: Unknown, most likely within the Edge World's. Summery: Born on Cambridge as the child of academics, Moreton was raised in relative security until his parents divorce in 811AS. Following this, he and his mother moved to Planet Erie in Liberty, where he befriended Jake Knight and Kara Wall. Shortly after Knight and Moreton finished school in 814AS, the three of them stole a Rhino class freighter and took to the stars. Over the next two years the three of them explored Sirius smuggling and trading to get by. It’s known that during this time they smuggled synthetic marijuana and are suspected of also smuggling cardamine, artefacts and illegal munitions through House space. It’s believed that during this time the three of them first met Order veteran Christopher Leigh. Evidence suggests that Leigh encountered their vessel smuggling artefacts in House space whilst he was on assignment. Many details of the meeting are unknown, but we do know that the vessel surrendered the artefacts and no shots were fired. A few months later they would encounter Leigh again when he saved their lives after encountering them fleeing a group of lesser Nomads deep in the Omicrons. Afterwards, it’s believed that the three of them continued to smuggle and trade, albeit avoiding contraband of a possible Nomadic influence. They even traded in their Rhino for a Pelican class, and then a Borderworld’s Transport. Whilst flying the Pelican, intel suggests the three were adopted as an Order asset by an Order-aligned intelligence agency called The Preservers. During this point it is believed that three of them were radicalised by Order influence. In late 816AS Moreton officially enrolled in the Order on Toledo. Moreton would join the officers corp and was enrolled as an officer in the Primary Fleet, where he would remain for two years. Moreton served during the Battle of Omicron Minor but was believed to have fallen during the Order’s final retreat from the system. He was last seen in an Order Nephthys class VHF approaching the planets surface as the last transports fled the surface. However, Moreton’s fightercraft turned up abandoned on Freeport 11 within 48 hours and there was a confirmed sighting by a Kusari asset of him flying with the Gas Miners Guild just two months later. It is not known how Moreton survived the Battle of Minor but leaked Order intelligence seems to prove that he is not compromised by Nomadic influence. They were, however, unaware of his location and status until earlier this year (826AS). After leaving the Gas Miners Guild at the end of 818AS Moreton returned home to Bretonia. He signed up as a pilot with the BPA in early 819AS, but like the GMG left within weeks. Moreton was then contracted as a privateer by Bretonia and spent the next several years fighting Gallia. Evidence suggests that this period fighting under the crown of Bretonia was motivated by a feeling of patriotism. A few months ago Moreton vanished, but sources have placed him back with the Order. A high-profile trial controversially rendered him innocent of all charges. He did not steal any Order technology as his fightercraft was left and tagged for the Order to find, nor did he compromise any Order operations or jeopardise the safety of any Order personnel. Moreton suffered no more than a formal slap on the wrists and has since been reinstated with full rank and flight status. He now commands the OCV Nekhbet, a Hathor class gunboat. Phycological Profile: One could argue that a former smuggler lacks little in the in the way of a moral compass, but it appears that flipped shortly before joining the Order. Now Moreton appears almost zealous in his fights against threats to Humanity or against overbearing authority. He must also be a strong patriot to threaten a promising career with The Order to return home. It’s also known that despite his duties on the Nekhbet Moreton still often flies snubcraft on missions, usually reconnaissance and infiltration, sometimes for days at a time. Whilst it is not unusual for Order officers to continue duties in small craft long after promotions to greater things, Moreton appears to relish these opportunities. Moreton has also displayed evidence of PTSD according to leaked records, however this diagnosis appears far from certain, but one can only imagine what effects losing one world and seeing his other home ripped apart by war might have on his mental wellbeing. Saying that the Order still have Moreton on active duty so either these leaks are exaggerated or the Order is more desperate for pilots and ship captains than we’ve been lead to believe. Advice: Moreton could prove a possible asset if the need arises. It would be risky to make contact with him, but despite his unauthorised long leave of absence he seems trusted by the Order Admiralty, The Grand Admiral in particular. Moreton still has family in house space: A mother on Planet Erie, currently living an average life in one of planets small towns, as well as a father in Bretonia who’s assisting with clean-up operations in the war-scarred systems. Moreton has a history that suggests he and his father could be close, his father even worked with the Order briefly after Moreton joined, recruited by the son himself. If the safety of his father or possibly his mother could be comprised Moreton maybe able to be turned into an asset for the LSF and Naval Intelligence. Moreton is also a man of two worlds. There is no evidence of him having any loyalty to Pennsylvania or Liberty from his time living there but having faced a life and death struggle for both Bretonia and The Order it is clear that he is highly loyal to both. This could well be used to manipulate and control him for his own means. The final tool could be his previous connections to smuggler and infiltrator Kara Wall should she be located, but she vanished after being released from prison in Rheinland earlier this year. There have been several possible sightings of her that show she may well be on the SS Crichton, an unregistered Freelance vessel. Like his parents, she could be used against him. This Order agent could well be privy to intelligence on Order manoeuvres and operations, as could he be a useful tool should Liberty ever turn her eyes to The Edge Worlds again. Despite Commander Moreton having several weak links, however, the value of him as asset does not currently outweigh the risks if we fail. Unless our current government decides to renew our interests in The Omicrons, or if we drift towards conflict with The Order again, I formally recommend against trying to turn Moreton into an asset, at least for the time being.
