Freelancer on Linux? - Mercury - 12-03-2019

Is Freelancer ever going to run on Linux? Or not a chance? ( Excluding virtual Windows of course)

It used to work with Wine pretty well, until the new launcher was released, idk who wrote it, but it broke the whole thing. You can run the game it Wine, but launcher 2.0 wouldn't work. Means you won't be able to update normally.

Well... thanks. That's a shame.

Unless there is another way to update

@Misfit has it working on Linux afaik. Whether or not he checks the forums these days is another thing.

You can run it on Linux, I have it too.
It's kinda Complicated tho.. It contains bypassing the launcher, manually patching everything in the right order and a little script that runs when you press a hot key to assign Freelancer to a different cpu core (cause somehow Freelancer doesn't run with more than 5 fps on cpu core one on Linux).
But apart from the hassle to get it to run properly, it actually runs fine and without problem
