Absolution - Sombs - 01-17-2020

January 16th, 827 A.S. - Omicron Kappa

This was it. The Apahanta approached Corinth Research Station. In the past, the warship visited this place once a month, sometimes even remained here for a while since the Zoners had always welcomed them with open arms. This time it was not different, but Ezrael couldn't help but feel tense. This meeting bore a huge risk to them. If the Order decided to capture them, execute them or steal the Apahanta, they had the upper hand here. All Ezrael could rely on was a word. Hopefully they would keep it.

Everything was prepared. Sombra and Luna were on the Catport in Cortez. The Order didn't need to know he had a child now, and they didn't need to know Sombra was affiliated with the Apahanta. Right now, Ezrael was alone on the bridge, only accompanied by robotic crew. The human crew was awaiting him at the airlocks. They all needed to endure whatever kind of scanning procedure the Order would use to make sure none of them was infected. Hopefully they wouldn't cheat and just claim someone was. Or even worse, they would actually find a hidden nomad within his crew and nobody knew about it.

Taking a deep breath, the Curacaoan stood up from his commanding chair and gave the bridge a final look around. Everything seemed fine. Plans for any kind of trap from the Order were set and prepared. If anyone of his crew was to get harmed, nobody would leave the area alive. "Apahanta, signal Corinth we're mooring now."

And with that, he left the bridge. The Mako-class warship came closer to the station and moored. The Order representative was probably already waiting on Corinth, so Ezrael thought. Nevertheless, he had his PDA with him for the sake of coordination, and to show them the crew roster if needed. Of course the latter didn't mention either Sombra or Luna.

Orders from command had been straight forward; inspect the crew of the Apahanta for infection, kill any infected, subdue anyone trying to protect infected and interview the captain of the vessel. Intel on the vessel and its actions against the Order in Bretonia certainly did not act in its favor, but the communication to high command had apparently managed to sway some interest to at least justify this investigation.

Agent Solandros let out a deep sigh as he saw the Apahanta piercing the green wall of fog that surrounded the station.
The battle in Omicron Sigma the other day had been taxing, though he prefered not to think of it for now.
Once the Apahanta moored with the station Solandros reached up to his collar and pressed what appeared to be a small button.
A soft click filled the deserted office room he was in as he activated an encrypted signal, signaling the Horus, an Osiris class battleship
and the Mafdet, a Reshef class cruiser, to uncloak adjacent to the station.

If anything it seemed like a clear signal the Order was most definitely present on the station already.

Agent Solandros moved towards the dock, joining several operatives already there.
Inspecting a crew thoroughly was no small task but it was the bare minimum that had to be done
to enable these talks Ezriel had requested.

One thing was clear in the Colonels mind though; once that airlock opened things were going to change one way or the other.

The airlocks opened up and a gateway to Corinth was established. Ezrael swallowed, eyeing his crew for a moment. They were lined up in this hallway, 27 people, excluding himself. It was one of these times when they behaved like an actual disciplined military crew, not like a bunch of misfits that were just happy to live on a ship that didn't engage the first best battle they could find. "Stick to the plan. Don't provoke them, just do as they say and nobody will get harmed."

After that, he turned around and moved through the airlocks, approaching the silhouettes in the distance. Those were either the Zoner Security Check or the Order agents. There was just one familiar face out there. The Curacaoan headed directly towards him. "Agent Solandros, I assume?" he asked, extending a hand. As usual, Ezrael was unarmed, wearing nothing but his Apahanta suit and a leather jacket over it.

RE: Absolution - Vitoniz30 - 01-18-2020

It's been three years since I met the Apahanta for the first time in Omicron Delta. Most amount of rumors said they are just wolves in sheeps clothes, which defected from the Core for unknown reasons. But after years of different encounters with the Core people, I realized, this is not too easy to leave meaningless organisation. Most of them are dedicated and obey order whatever the cost. That means, Apahanta and his captain were an interesting enigma.
But, whatever is was, this is ex-Core warship and who knows, what can happen during meeting and recieved an Order to prepare escort group for colonel as main representative.

Everything has been ready for arrival and I re-sent colonel's signal to Mafdet to start an operation. Soon he joined me and few other operatives on the deck.
Only one tall man moved out from airlocks and came to us, salutatory extending a hand. I stayed near them silently to let colonel do all needed work and just looked on Apahanta's captain neutrally with a bit widely opened eyes. I've read this shows collocutor some kind of trust and I really had nothing against him personally.

Two hours before the arrival

"Mafdet on position, William and soldiers are waiting for you, but I can't understand why did you Nekhbet's group to arrive too?" Commander Miles Drake looked confused and I see why.
"Man, this is Core warship and we should be ready to any unexpected situation. Especially this one, who looks for cooperation with the Order and don't forget, this area has lots of nomads and drones out of their minds."
"You speaking about "Amalgam"?
"Exactly. High Command knows about Mafdet and Horus and they'll show up once Colonel Parothia sends an order. But something will happen without his awareness and Nekhbet is a part of our plan. Crew is waiting for my signal to jump here and rapidly attack anything and anyone who'll try to harm the Corinth".

Soldiers were lined up when I arrived to the briefing room and looked on each of them.

"Everyone, listen to me! Our mission to provide and maintain Corinth and colonel's security itself. Horus and Mafdet under Commander Drake's command will provide outer defence. Juliet-2 and Juliet-3, get a scientist uniform and take on marked in yours Neural Net position. You'll find plasma sniper rifles there. If you see too suspicious movements - terminate it. Squadrons Charlie and Delta - take positions outside of Corinth and warn us, if you detect hostiles approaching station. Commander Drake - provide Apahanta's external inspecton. Use Ion Blaster if their defences goes online and disrupt ship's movement. Do you understand orders?
"Yes, sir!"
"Good. Let's keep moving".

RE: Absolution - Promotheus - 01-19-2020

The sound of the airlock opening filled the room, guards keeping their weapons trained on the group.
Solandros could practically taste the tension, but the risk of Nomad infection was not something to be taken lightly.
The sight of the crew was somewhat surprising, there were what, 25? 30? Surely not enough to properly pilot a battleship like the Apahanta?

One of the crew stepped forwards, captain Ezrael by the looks of it.
Solandros raised an eyebrow as Ezrael raised his hand for a handshake,
two guards putting themselves between the colonel and the captain.

"Stand down, it's alright." Solandros stated, beckoning the two guards to move aside.
"Captain Ezrael, we meet at last." the Order colonel stared into Ezraels eyes for what would likely feel like an uncomfortable period,
almost as if he somehow expected to be able to see Nomads dancing around in the captains pupils if he was indeed infected.

Seemingly satisfied for now Solandros beckoned to one of the guards who stepped into position behind Ezrael.

"Captain, please follow me, the other agents will inspect your crew."
With a somewhat amused smirk he looked down at Ezraels outstretched hand and added;
"If you come out of the scans clean, I'll even give you that handshake."

Right, this was the Order. If anyone knew about the abilities of infectees, it was them. It was this moment where Ezrael actually wondered who was better informed. Those who were specialized in hunting Nomads and Infectees or the one guy who had a relationship with a a covert wild.

"You're careful, I like that." His smirk was probably not too well received in this very moment. But then again, his charming smirk was something he was known for. He made a move to follow Agent Solandros but couldn't help but wonder about the exact procedures. The one time he had been on an Order vessel, the OCV Andromeda, he didn't really get the chance to ask many questions unrelated to Yuki Hideyoshi. "So, how are things going to happen? Do you have mobile scanners or do I need to strip infront of your agents? I'm prepared for anything, I guess."

RE: Absolution - Vitoniz30 - 01-22-2020

Man-enigma doesn't mean he is just a man with all properties and it was hard not too see he tried to please a Colonel. But, despite on this, he was looked at a loss, a usual thing when you're going to face an unknown.

"Mr. Vertiga, no need to strip up. Guess, you have heard about metal detector, haven't ya?" I just looked on Vertiga quite interested. Being a bit shorter than he, I had to raise an eye, but didn't feel really uncomfortable. "If yes, you should be sure, procedure is going to be quick and simple. Now you and your team will line up and under guard go through construction. Guardmen will keep eyes on each your teammate, every step they does, so I do not recommend to avoid passing"

Drake was watching in monitors from Mafdet's control room and held external perimeter under control. Few Order fighters flew around the battleship. Everything seem to be fine.

RE: Absolution - Sombs - 01-22-2020

They probably weren't much different than those on the Apahanta, the ones used by Core and Freeport 11. Sadly, not 100% accurate, as Vagrant Aphrodite once had proven when she invaded the ship in 825.

"Don't worry, they will play along. We're here to end this unnecessary hostility and nothing else." After all, it was his name on the bounty board. He really hoped this was not some kind of trap from them. But then again, it would have been extremely shortsighted for them to do something weird in this peculiar situation. They probably had more assets to lose in case of a giant explosion or an ambush than Ezrael with his few people and his single warship. "I guess this won't last too long, then. We're just a few."

RE: Absolution - Promotheus - 01-23-2020

The Colonel listened intently as the two spoke, moving towards rooms prepared for the occasion.
It was interesting what people would let slip when they were nervous, or mentally preoccupied.
"Just a few indeed." he noted, following up shortly after:
"How exactly do you keep a ship of that size operational with so little crew?"
"I trust we don't have to manually search the ships for stowaways if you're
as cooperative as you have claimed to be thus far."

Frankly the captain was right in that the detection process was similar to what he might have experienced on other bases that
were experienced with dealing with Nomads, what he likely didn't know however was that the Order had long since improved the
technology behind it to increase the odds of detection. The Order had to be ever vigilant, after all.

RE: Absolution - Sombs - 01-23-2020

"Maintenance itself is not an issue, and since we usually avoid combat in order to maintain our limited resources, we're not required to repair the ship every week. Routine jobs are usually done by our robotic personnel, kindly provided by the Zoners. In case of bigger efforts, we're making use of external teams. What is money good for if not to hire people," Ezrael explained, technically not lying while not giving out too specific information.

"It's also not the first time ship and crew were searched for infections. The Auxesians demanded that after them having heard rumors about the Apahanta having gotten infiltrated by an infectee. Which was true, as I explained in the initial comms to you. However, ship and crew are clean, at least to the best of my knowledge. But then again, you don't need to take my word for it, so if you want to spend hours on searching for nothing, you're welcome to do so." He cleared his throat. "You might find some suspicious socks, though."
