RE: Absolution - Vitoniz30 - 02-05-2020

While we walked through the hallways, I noticed the "rest of the crew" and now I realized why Apahanta has only 26 people as the main crew. Robotics doing their usual work replacing human resources. And after we arrived in the room looked like the central core.
"So, that's Apahanta's mainframe, looks unusual. It might be custom rework, but to be honest, I haven't visited Mako before. Would you mind if I connect my toy?"

I looked on the monitor and plugged-in device that gives me access to bypass basic locks.

"What about me, you say? My story is simple: I joined the Order about five years ago and reached Captain rank being pretty young. Ezrael might be much older than me. I remember the old days when I visited Omicrons for the first time. I am from Manhattan, but my school years starting since 813, have been passed on the Freeport 10."

"I mind it, but the Captain ordered to let you." She eyed him firmly, watching his every action. There was nothing to be worried about, but she couldn't help but dislike this snooping. She didn't like it when Auxesia did the same. An annoying feeling to have the power to destroy cities and stations but be at the mercy of a bunch of shady people with more firepower. "We've been replacing many parts of this ship over time, mostly to get rid of dangerous Core hardware like remote controlled computers or nomadic technology. It is probably no secret to you that APM makes most of their money with trading nomadic materials and technologies resulting from the research of nomad materials. We've noticed that the nomads became significantly less aggressive the more suspicious APM parts were removed." That was not a lie.

"I take it your counterpart to APM hardware is also based on your nomad research?" she asked, simply being curious about what Kemwer Munitions were actually based on.

RE: Absolution - Promotheus - 02-21-2020

Agent Solandros let out a chuckle at Ezraels words, shook his head and replied:
"You'd be surprised what people, and Nomads for that matter, often forget in basic security protocols.
Honestly I think it's an arrogance thing, underestimating humanity or something, or perhaps they simply don't give it much thought.
Though rest assured, your 'porn archives' as you so colorfully put it, will remain intact I'm sure."

The questions Ezrael made were fair points, it was logical he'd be curious towards such actions that, without context, would easily look outlandish.
That said, the colonel had no intention of revealing classified information.
"Your suspicion and concerns regarding the Orders actions are noted, and you are allowed to have them.
However the information is classified, so I'm afrad I will have to leave you in the dark regarding what may or may not happened.
As for your actions during the Tau battle, you were straight forward enough. I was checking if you could keep your story straight, well done."

With that said Solandros sat down at a table, beckoning Ezrael towards a vacant chair opposite of him. It seemed it was time to come down to business
that the Apahanta's crew had managed to get through the scans clean.
"Now then, you wish to have the bounty removed. On the one hand you engaged and damaged Order vessels, endangering an operation.
On the other, you came to us on your own accord to seek the removal of the bounty, which I assume also means clemency from the aforementioned act.
Tell me, what guarantees do we have you will not move against the Order again?"

Taking the seat on the opposite, Ezrael deeply inhaled and exhaled once. He did not expect the agent to give him a clear answer on what the Order was doing in Bretonia with the Nomad Power Cell. Still, it would have been nice to hear any explanation that would make sense, anything that would put the Order's reputation into a more positive light. Anything that would justify the actions they had been involved in, the attack on Freeport 11 or the Tau scenario.

At least Solandros seemed charismatic enough to make dealing with him not entirely unpleasant. "Words can only tell so much, Agent. It'd be the same word on neutrality as you'd give me on the Order and your allies and contractors not hunting us."

For a moment, he looked around, taking in the scenery around them. Corinth had changed a little since their latest longer stay. The station was now hidden inside the nebula, and the windows and monitors showing the surroundings of the station made that pretty clear. It felt a bit like Livadia now. "The Apahanta became quite the jack of all trades over the past years. She had to. In the beginning, we were heavily relying on supplies from the Zoners, who helped us leaving the Core during the Core-Zoner-Conflict in 823. Back then we were actively looking for any house or faction that would welcome us, or at least not fire at us the moment we show up. As a lone warship, we had only so many capabilities, not even a jump drive. Bretonia gave us a chance to prove ourselves and we took it, and that made assisting Bretonia in the Tau operation so important."

He paused for a moment, shaking his head, sighing. "At least it seemed important back then. Now everything is different. Diplomacy changed, Bretonia took Canaria, you're suddenly on good terms with the Zoners again. We have our own contacts now, have a jump drive and advanced cloaking capabilities, even gas collectors and mining and processing modules installed. Most of what we need we can actually get ourselves now. We're also, for a lone, unaffiliated entity, quite strong, mobile and reputable. Of course not in a position of power over anything, but that's something we're not interested in anyway. These political and combative plays over planets and stations and territory, we don't need to be part of that. We don't need to fight in the wars of other people."

Ezrael eyed Solandros. "To us, there is no point in fighting anyone, just to please someone else. The only battle the Apahanta will partake in is the one for our own survival. Self-defense. I see no reason to pester the Order, and while I can't deny I am still curious about some of your questionable motives here and there, I don't need to care. Because literally every organization has those questionable motives, and I don't need to learn about the truths behind these motives. Call me egoistic, but I do think we're living in a universe where it is a lot easier for everyone to mind their own businesses. That is what I would like to do. Have my ship and my crew and exist at the periphery of Sirius, minding our own businesses without interfering with those of others. That is probably the best assurance I can give you."

RE: Absolution - Promotheus - 03-13-2020

Agent Solandros paid careful attention as Ezrael spoke, listening intently while also keeping an eye on the captains body language.
He seemed honest enough, but Solandros could not help but feel the captain might not be telling the whole truth regarding the
future of the Apahanta. With a small groan Solandros shook his head and spoke:
"The Zoner conflict was a major headache, we defend them one day, then we get kicked out by them the next.
But that is in the distant past and holding on the past slights will only ensure further conflict which only plays into the hands
of the Nomads."

Solandros fixed his gaze on Ezraels eyes upon saying those last words and added:
"And if there is one thing both the Order and I refuse to do, it is to play into the hands of glorified unfried space kalamari."

With the smallest hint of a smirk on his face the Colonel reached out to a pitcher and poured himself and Ezrael a glass of water,
shoving the glass across the table towards the Captain before resuming:
"As for Gran Canaria, it was a tragedy. It was also the moment that cemented the Bretonians as a dangerous cornered
animal in the eyes of the Overwatch and led to us providing aid to IMG during the siege of Aland.
So yes, I can see how that would change your mind about your former...employers."

Solandros shook his head, still having difficulty grasping the desparation the Bretonians had displayed, basically resorting to what were essentially war crimes.
"Now I have one concern regarding what you've said so far. If you truely intend to take your crew and stay on the edge systems to mind your
own business in a self sufficient manner without the interference of others, then why do so in a warship? Modified or not, it's hardly a colony ship"

RE: Absolution - Sombs - 03-17-2020

It seemed to go well this way. The moment Solandros filled the glass, the Curacaoan eyed it carefully. Alcohol, possibly? No smell. Before doing anything, he waited for the Agent to take a sip himself. Not that it mattered much. If he was here to poison Ezrael, he would have prepared himself for that. And then, there were thousand more faster and secure ways to kill him.

Still, the thought didn't really make him thirstier.

"We have to work with what we have, Agent. We have the Mako, I paid for it in more than one way. We upraded and altered it to suit our preferences. Trading it in or selling and buying a Bustard or Zoner capital ship would be a waste of resources and time, and we'd only end up with something with less defensive capabilities."

He leaned back in his chair, his hand still at the glass, the other in the pocket of his leather jacket. Many people had asked him why he insisted on keeping the Apahanta. Sometimes he wondered whether he was doing it more for the reasonable arguments or for egoistic reasons. This was his ship, after all. He loved it. More than any woman. And certainly in a different way.

"I believe the other big reason is that I've seen often enough how people react to a Zoner capital ship. The big difference is, when people see a random Mako-class warship out there, they think twice about getting close to it, while Zoners have a thing for attracting attention. Mostly the negative kind."
