IRMM~ Doc: FTL Drive - IRMM - 01-18-2020 ~ Istituto di Ricerca Militare Maltese ~ "Documentation: FTL Drive" Sirians often rely on engines to move from point A to B, as does virtually the entire Sirius. Spending electron or chemical energy is common and doesn't involve any special technology to apply as it is quite high-level. A low-level implementation of an engine would be employing the technology similar to Dark Matter Reactor. Gravity field stabilizers were put on an unmarked Sarissa battleship at the front and the back around engine placement. The goal of this is to create the following effect: This method stretches the fabric of space and time behind, and contracts in front creating a wave with a warp bubble inside. The flat "surface" being the object. Instead of increasing the object's speed with a conventional engine and time being altered by these effects, the IRMM Drive forces the fabric to move the object instead, and it itself isn't moving in this bubble hence no time dilatation effect can be possibly measured. Light in this bubble will always be faster than the ship, therefore space-time and the laws of relativity would not be violated in this case. The array of gravity field technology was further equipped with a large amount of nanocapacitors to create the initial spike to affect the fabric and power it further from the ship's core once the desired speed has been reached. This required quite an amount of time to figure out a way to not literally break the entire ship in half if the field was partially touching the ship itself. Numerous simulations were generated until a suitable shape and the most efficient area to affect was found to prevent the enormous Tidal forces to stretch the ship. Stopping the ship once engaged is possible by inverting the outputs of both generators and steadily increasing the energy in an opposite logarithmic scale from the current power levels. If this becomes unfeasible, a second mode which creates powerful pulses of blasts to disrupt the wave that is carrying the ship. This sudden stop doesn't affect the crew nor the ship since neither experience G-Forces while contained within the warp bubble. The spacetime is described by a foliation of space-like hypersurfaces of constant coordinate time t, with the metric taking the following general form: α is the lapse function that gives the interval of proper time between nearby hypersurfaces, βi is the shift vector that relates the spatial coordinate systems on different hypersurfaces, γij is a positive-definite metric on each of the hypersurfaces. |
