Guide: How to Revert Ship Prices by Removing Forced Armor Addon - Volgrim - 01-20-2020

NOTICE
If you plan to follow this guide, do a CLEAN backup of your goods.ini file
Also keep in mind this is ONLY if you host and play on your OWN SERVER!!! ALL players on your server will need this modified file!! Attempting to use this on the official will likely result in a ban. In order to resume playing on the official, you will need to replace the modified goods.ini with the one included in the Disco install!

Okay, so due to an issue I had found a few hours ago, namely that ships costed WAY too much than they should because of the forced armor upgrades, I've found the file and corresponding lines that need to be deleted in order to fix this issue!

So, step by step...

  1. Locate your Discovery Freelancer Install Directory
  2. Navigate to DATA/EQUIPMENT, find your goods.ini file, and COPY it to another location. This will serve as your stock backup.
  3. Open the goods.ini file with your preferred text editor. I personally use Notepad++.
  4. --From here, you can either search for certain ships (using their nickname, as found via FLStat) if you want to only remove the armor from certain ships, or, if you know the armor nickname for the other types of armor upgrades, change the armor included on the ship. Remember that cargo restrictions still apply!
    • Press control+f to open your search window
    • Type in the ship nickname, if you want to edit certain ships, and look for the line "addon = dsy_armor8, internal, 1" and, if you want to remove the armor, delete it. If you want to change the type included in purchase, you will need to know the proper nickname for it. (this will also make it more expensive, and again, remember that cargo space restrictions will still apply in the actual game!!)
    • If you just want to remove the forced armor upgrade from every ship, simply delete every instance of the line found in the file. This will make ships return to their normal prices, once again allowing for a proper roleplay experience!
