GCA| Gran Canarian Army - Backo - 01-29-2020 Gran Canarian Army Being Zoners means we're guilty so we're guilty one and all! Tag: GCA| Affiliation and ID: Zoner Militant ID About us (public information) The Gran Canarian Army (GCA for short) is a militant and revolutionary movement that was formed shortly after the bloody Bretonian conquest of planet Gran Canaria in the Omega-49 system. The movement's forces consist mainly of Zoners native to Omega-49 and the planet therein as well as outsiders who had considered Gran Canaria their home prior to the Bretonian invasion. The violent and unlawful nature of the Gran Canarian Army has earned it bad reputation among some Zoner circles that believe diplomacy to be the proper way to handle the situation regarding their now occupied planet. In return the GCA considers them as traitors to the idea of freedom and self-governance that the Zoners represent. The GCA's zone of influence is highly focused on Gran Canaria (hence their name) and the Omega-49 system itself. Operations outside of this area are rarely ones of aggression, but rather to spread propaganda as well as to secure logistic shortages that the movement is facing. Inside the limits of Omega-49 the policy of "yield no ground" is often promoted by the revolutionaries, albeit in reality due to their shortages of combat assets this is often far from the reality due to the uneven strength of the two sides in the conflict. In their fight against the Occupational Forces, the GCA has not shied away from using terrorist tactics such as burning and bombing of buildings associated with the Bretonian Crown as well as murder of civilians, considered associates or moles of the Bretonian Occupational Government. They have also voiced their threat to assassinate Governor-General Commodore Elizabeth Hall, should the Bretonians not agree to their demands for a free and Zoner Gran Canaria. Origins The 21st December of 826A.S. was a dark day for the Zoners of Gran Canaria. The Kingdom of Bretonia, pressured by the Gallic advance from the Taus, proclaimed the annexation of Gran Canaria in the name of the Bretonian Crown. The natives of the planet were given mere minutes to prepare for the conquest from the incoming Stirling fleet bringing over 1.8 million soldiers. Initial resistance by any Zoners, Mollys or Corsairs planetside was quickly crushed by the much better organized and pre-planned annexation forces. The Coalition's betrayal of the Zoners was another stab into the back of the then peaceful Zoner population of Gran Canaria. Anti-Occupational graffiti sprayed in a still majority Zoner neighborhood. Seeing the hopelessness of the situation, a lot of the Zoner groups and factions quickly gave up and accepted the fate of Gran Canaria as a lost cause. This form of defeatism and pacifism albeit was not adopted by all of the Gran Canarian population. Together with some of the Mollys and Corsairs that still remained planetside, some Zoners formed rebellion units that continued to resist Bretonian authority. By early 828A.S. a lot of these units were united under the singular banner of the provisional Gran Canarian Army. With each passing day the crackdown by the Occupational Forces of Bretonia on any resistance on Gran Canaria forced a lot of GCA members and sympathizers to flee the planet and move their resistance from the planet's surface to the cold and vast vacuum of space. Assets and tactics Unlike the Bretonian Occupational Forces, most of the GCA's assets are re-purposed civilian tools, vehicles and machinery. This handicap when it comes to hardware has forced the only feasible approach of resistance to be guerrilla tactics. The GCA avoids direct conflict with the bulk of the Bretonian forces and instead picks on less defended targets of opportunity with the aim to mainly cause material damage to the Bretonian Crown with the hopes that the Occupational Government of Gran Canaria would reconsider the further colonization of the planet financially unfeasible for the Kingdom's current post-war economy. Masked GCA rebel throwing an improvised incendiary bomb at a violent protest. Much like their planetary counterpart the space division of the Gran Canarian Army also focuses on hit and run tactics against Bretonian logistics as well as lightly defended combat assets. Due to their shortage of man and firepower the GCA does not look away from siding with foreign forces hostile to the Crown, such as the Corsairs and the Mollys. The Coalition while now hostile to the Bretonians again is still remembered as backstabbers that betrayed them when the invasion began due to their interest in evicting the Corsair influence from the system. As such the GCA is much more reluctant to side with the socialists of Omega-52. Diplomacy

I would suggest player requesting Zoner militant ID change, no one is really using it. Also uh, mentioned on discord, but go for Zoner Guard rep to make you show as hostile. More quality of life than anything but better I think. Can you also list the snub ships you use? RE: GCA| Gran Canarian Army - Backo - 01-29-2020 (01-29-2020, 04:37 PM)Markam Wrote: Best of luck. Thank. I'm already in touch with @Ramke about the Zoner Militant ID to get changed to O-49 conflict. I'll see if I can poke people to try and /droprep for Zoner Guard but no promises that all of us will have that IFF all the time. It is a bit of a drag and costly to fix every ship like that. So far we're using anything available to the Zoner ID, but I think we have yet to make any caps. We mostly have fighters and a few bombers. RE: GCA| Gran Canarian Army - Lusitano - 01-29-2020 i find this very funny!! when the invasion very few people realy care about it, really few, and as time passes by even fewer to a point that basically only i really care!! At the beggining there some players, even a small group but didn't last long, and then ... i spent many hours alone on omega 49, with very few enconters, almost all resulted in some pew pew ... won some lost others .. maybe lost more than i won but i didn't care, it is all part of the game, i even remember seeing a pirate guy in a bomber, a couple of times, that was also there for the cause!! But .. time passed by and even i lost some interest, and started to rarely go there. I had the promiss of a dev that zoners would have some ... i can even say ... respect ... but nope!! Then i even wrote this , and the reactions were not very friendly by some but, what i want you to see is this that and i quote : " Alright lets get into this again shall we. As one of those who was at the initial forefront of crying over the Zoners losing Gran Canaria i initiallly was ready to just leave. Instead i created the Lokria Character and tried a little resistance angle which was fun but was snuffed rather easially, despite what i could muster in game we faced the same numbers issue that Gallic players had, for every one ship we logged Bretonia had like 3, but never the less we had a few fun short skirmishs and i got to do some RP on the forums that was enjoyable. However despite people wishing me to carry on with the Angle the motivation was beaten out of me by comments from staff and others with privalged positions basically stating it would mean nothing, that its all set in stone, no actions done by me or any other players would change the course, that even if i created a full on Zoner group and outfitted Ten players with Nephs, they wouldnt count as in in game assets dont mean anything. " So ... the devs didn't want a rebellion ... basicly what you are doing. ok!!!! funny that soon after i wrote this. you created this group, and now is alright doing this? the only reaon that what you are doing wasn't made before was because devtonins didn't wanted!! funny right?!! ok ... first ... i don't understand why making our faction official, i mean .. GC thanks to massive trade event is empty of Zoners popultation, so those people angry on GC doesn't exist, it would make much more sense if it was people on Pygar were not satisfied and decided to fight back for GC! Second ... you want to make official but ... you guys don't even have an headquarter ... where are you guys based? Where are you guys rest and repair ships?! Not on GC ... Lanzarote is not a good place because it is too open and near. Where? My advise ... go to FP5. Close enough as also far enough. Third ... what are your real plans for this faction? We all know that Bretonia will near leave GC, so how you guys, an official faction, is going to maintain all enthusiasmfor the cause, when all will be for nothing? Mainly with the Zoner ID that you guys can only do something on one system!! Fourth and last ... you call that diplomacy? Who are the "Enemies of Zoner Freedom" like you wrote? What about the OSI, are they friendly or "collaborators" with bretonia? And the TAZ that did nothing to help? Coallition and the Red Hessians supported the invasion, so ... what are they now? And the IMG? You guys made any contact with the Corsairs? And about the Core and Bounty Hunters? They helped Bretonia in the invasion, as also Aland shipyard!! Well ... i wish ou good luck, but for me, even with the support of some friends that I and others didn't had, i don't believe this faction will last long. Good luck and take care RE: GCA| Gran Canarian Army - Chuba - 01-29-2020 thanks RE: GCA| Gran Canarian Army - Backo - 01-29-2020 We plan to shoot Bretonia and Bretonian Allies until they ferry off back to Dublin and the unjust occupation of Gran Canaria ends. That's our main plan so far. RE: GCA| Gran Canarian Army - Connor - 01-30-2020 Money taken, good luck! And the TAZ that did nothing to help? not realy. we tried to bring some help up, despite the evacuation of the migrants. but when it comes to 49 osi and velvet stay silent. what shall the popes do? declare war to bretonia, while osi and velvelt will not jump in? To Clarify as Velvet Lead/Member pretty much since the start, Velvet was partly made in response to the Gran Canaria situation and later the Aland situation (That had a effect around Freeport 1) to say that Velvet was silent during Gran Canaria is a bit unfair, as it did not exist as a faction. Now at the time, my character was part of Aazalot's brief Zoner Militant push against Bretonia (See: #1) and that same character is currently InRP leader of Velvet. Currently, we are not friendly or collaborators with Bretonia, we are neutral but it is also true that neutrality can be seen as complicity. At the moment, Velvet's only concern in O-49/Exeter is Lanzarote and I do log now and then to check on it if there's a large amount of people. As for my personal feelings on this faction? It's alright, I knew something like this would come up eventually but I do think it's a little well, late in the game. The annexation of Gran Canaria happened a year ago, the evacuation of Zoners happened pretty soon after that IIRC. Most Zoners InRP are on Pygar or in other areas, I'm not saying that your faction shouldn't exist just that, the fight for me feels hollow or a loosing battle now. Still, I wish this faction good luck in this official faction request as I, sorta agree with it. You say all of this but how many Bretonians did you kill at the end of the day? Zoner factions trade with them anyway, how is that not a collaboration? |
