The Parisian Assembly

Montluc Advanced Engineering

Upon opening, the transmission reveals a significantly more sober Nathan de Montfort. His mournful, distraught eyes gaze upon the screen almost incomprehensively, particularly when noticing the rank of the message's sender. The already apparent creases of discomfort in his cheeks increase in depth, as the sadness in his eyes turns to bitter resignation, enhanced with the burning-hot scorn born from generations of strict upper-class education. From a solemn, neutral disposition, his lips contort into the tiniest, most meager of forced smiles. He coughs ever so slightly, with the unbreakable-yet-offended dignity typical of your rich father-in-law when you fail to notice his inordinately expensive artworks.

I am Narhan de Montfort, speaker of the Parisian Assembly. We have been informed, mainly by this that your fairly new corporation is trying to take Quillan out of the Minarchy sovereignty, in other words, making a secession.

While such action is completely irrealistic, this is in complete violation of the Gallic Laws established by the Confédération of Gallia.

Such project requires the specific attention of the Parisian Assembly and its approbation. I can imediately announce that the Parisian Assembly denies at a vast majority the creation of a barony within Languedoc system. Henceforth you must cease IMEDIATELY all your activities regarding the creation of a Barony where Quillan would be the capital.

If the Parisian Assembly doesn't get a reply within the next 24 hours or if you don't provide the proofs of the cessation of your activity, then severe sanctions will be taken.

Last but not least, the Parisian Asseembly orders by decree to the Confederate forces, the deployment of a division of marines on Planet Quillan. This division will ensure the security of the local population and prevent any coup from possible rebels to the Confédération.

You have been warned, Montluc. This warning is the first and the last one you'll have for the remaining days of your existence.

Monsieur de Monfort,

Your inquiry was expected, albeit a bit later than I originally envisioned. Now, to the matter. You are being brash, so shall I.

Firstly, I read your "laws" very attentively and am fairly certain there is not a single provision preventing me from doing what I am doing. This is not a surprise to me, as the Parisian Assembly has already posed itself as incompetent, to my disappointment, I must admit. Do you intend on rebuilding Gallia? Because your recent legislation is anything but not an incentive to revitalise not only the border systems like Languedoc, but ANY system. Strict regulation of mining that outlaws small and medium enterprises from entering the market. Declaration of the limitation of freedom of travel within the Gallic space through media without supporting it with any credulous word of law while lazily coining some ephemeral term "Enclave Space" wherein in the "laws" of your very Confederation you claim system such as Brittany for yourself, invalidating its definition as "Enclave Space". Nothing of your demands comes with legal backup, and laws, Monsieur, is what distinguishes us from those savages from Malta.

You should ask yourself why would I even want to establish this Barony. You think it is hunger for power? Surely, a world of 80.000 souls would be a titan in Gallia to rival the Duchy and the Republic with their immense fleets and billions of population. Money? I have enough profits running the corporation. So what is it then? The order. Something, your Confederation is incapable of providing. You are either really incompetent judging by your laws, or just do not care about the Border systems and its populace, restraining local priority industry - mining.

Your gendarmes are corrupt, your marines are hunting ghosts in Brittany, and your laws are a copy-paste of the Royal Laws thad are not applicable to the new conditions we live in. Where were you during the provisional period when Quillan was suffering from unemployment? Where were you when the criminal bunch from Unione Corse seized Quillan? And now you dare to tell the people that their hopes for better future are wrong? What a hubris. But I was there, I saw people suffering. I saw it when I served with the engineering corps on Quillan during the war. I brought here capital to build something while I could just go into the Hebrides or to Lorraine and live the rest of my life in luxury. I created jobs, I created infrustructure, I brought prospects to this forgotten planet.

You want us to cease activities for now - fine, so be it. I will remain implementing my reforms in Uxeau of which I am the Baron and something you cannot take from me because I build the city from the scratch. We will see how Quillaners will like comparing their lives in their poor mining towns to the splendor of Uxeau. If you eventually put too much obstacles into our work and activities - MAE will simply say "Au revour" to your Confederation and your criminal Minarchy puppets and leave for good taking our capital with ourselves to somewhere else where our skills and initiative would be recognised.

Mind, I still believe we can come out of it on good terms. We are not intending to split from your precious Confederation, the Gauls should stick together and be stronger than other Houses. We are ready to continue pumping up money in this region, regulate its trade, industry, medicine, education, finances, and through it - benefit the Gallic economy. But if you prefer mafia to hold hands over this region rather than hard working people that recognise merit over familial ties - I digress. This decision will only prove to the local populace, and populace outside of Languedoc what Confederate Government truly is - and something we will gladly share our opinion on in media.

Now that is your call, Monsieur de Monfort. I do not wish to start another war on Quillan to depress the local populace even more after what it has already endured. If you want to oppress us - we won't fight back, we will simply go away, leaving you with nothing and weaker than you are now. You want to kill the local economy and activity - go for it. Our new ship designs, our new technological solutions for colonisation of planets and fast infrastructure buildup will leave with us and never see Gallia again, giving a competitive advantage to our new home. If that is the prosperity of Gallia you are thinking about - think over my words again and consider what would it cost for the Confederation to give a tiny world of 80.000 to a group of industrious people keen on developing it. Not much. What would you lose by denying us? Quite a lot.

Cordialment,
Baron Fabian Montluc

Monsieur Montluc,

Some points that I want to highlight. First we never heard about a supposed Baron named Montluc in Languedoc. Second, I will teach you one thing. Speaking or writting a novel in order that the large number of words act as a strong argument is often a bad and irrelevant idea. As consequences it is just like your response never existed.

Nonetheless I have a good memory. It is quite surprising that you involve the Enclave in this, while it is completely another subject. You words clearly suggest you are closer to them than you should be. I'll be honest here, you are braindead. The section 5.1 of the Gallic Laws isn't enough obvious ? Please stop acting as an idiot.

Isn't enough obvious that is it CLEARLY against the Laws to prepare a secession without consulting the Parisian Assembly ? So now every gallic citizen can create his own state? You are ridiculous.

The Parisian Assembly declared your barony null and void. Your attempt to take the power to Quillan is considered as coup. Unfortunately for you, this won't happen as our forces strongly control all the key points already.

Henceforth, and given your gross felony, conspiracy against national integrity at a time of crisis, blatant opportunism and possibly open association with wanted war criminals, Montluc will have to PAY a TAX of ONE BILLION CREDITS ( 1 000 000 000 credits ) to MNG|Parisian.Assembly within the next 24 HOURS.

Furthermore, Montluc will be NATIONALIZED. This means your organization will be put under the control of the Confederate Forces till the Parisian Assembly decide to which state Montluc will be given. This takes full effect in 24 HOURS from the release of this message.

Monsieur de Monfort,

Your answer was not a surprise again, same as your suggested course of action. It seems your incompetence can only be rivaled by your lack of political aptitude. But first, let us get to your pathetic allegations:

Quoting your Article 5 point 1:
Quote:All hostile entities found in this list are not welcome within the Confederacy and will be shot on sight by Law Enforcement Authorities. All Gallic citizens have a duty to report any sightings to the nearest law enforcer; not doing such is considered a criminal offense.
Gallic Brigands
Maquis
Outcasts/Maltese
Enclave
Coalition
Pirates from Foreign Houses
Terrorists from Foreign Houses

Can you see there something about secession from a subject of the Confederacy? I cannot. If you can somehow read about it between the line then you truly have a wonderful imagination and, as you put it in your own words, are "braindead" in terms of how the laws work. If it is not written down, it is allowed, Mon Cher.

SPeaking next, the Enclave. Your insinuations mean nothing to me, rumours be rumours. It is even amusing how you jump to the conclusions about our connections with the Enclave on the sole basis of us knowing that Brittany is controlled by them. But de Monfort, any Gallic citizen watching the news would know that. That is a common knowledge. Referring to it as a proof of our link to Enclave is a true feat of idiotism. Bravo, you have outplayed yourself!

Obviously, from your response I understand that you and your Parisian assembly is no better than the Minarchy. Absolute disdain for the Rule of Law, threats with aggressive nationalisation as if you were some Coalition communist, lack of meritocracy in the government, and overall pathetic behaviour. It would be my pleasure to let you know that I publicly renounce my Gallic citizenship if it ever meant anything. Modern Gallia thanks to such obscure amateurs like yourself is not worth the time of me or my employees. We will leave Languedoc, and you can do whatever you desire with the poor region. I feel only the pity for those we leave behind.

I have even the bigger pleasure to let you know, that I myself am writing this message to you from outside Gallia, and that we have evacuated most of equipment from planetside, our finances saved from the very start of our operations in the offshores away from your ill-based interest, and that your Confederation will have some nice empty boxes and old hulls on Quillan. Thank you for notifying us about your marines - you gave us even more time to react, although we prepared for such scenario in advance. Obviously, you will not get your 1.000.000.000 Francs - that is too much to demand for a person with so little talent. But I can send you a postcard, that shall suffice.

Hear from you, Cher de Monfort. And be ready for the storm in the media that will likely cause some uproar on in Gallia. I am certain your "braindead" government will act in a way that will trigger the population even more. Don't forget to drawn the protesters in blood - it would be so much like you, and such a good picture for the media.

So long, Mon Cher
Baron Fabian Montluc

P.S. update your laws, they are awful if any street dog can base any claim based on them.
