The Barge !!! - Zoners of Galileo - 02-15-2020
Never seen one before and certainly never flown one but while the player owned bases were out of action briefly yesterday a GM appeared next to me and I did not notice at first because I was not looking just answering his questions and giving him some info.
And THERE IT WAS a Barge the big beast that can carry 40,000 cargo and it immediately prompted me to say “I want one”.
BUT unfortunately I can’t have one and the case is when we are collecting base materials it would come in really handy and excellent for our roleplay.
So hence why I have posted this to get opinions from all trading factions in game and generally everyone aswell about maybe trying to convince the powers that be on Disco
to reintroduce this beast or maybe anyone who wants one or maybe limit this beast to trading groups and so on.
Maybe even limit the ship to trading groups unofficial and official factions who want to use them for collecting BASE supplies only and not using it for any trading routes or smuggling
The main reason that I want one is I can go from Galileo to Kepler collecting base supplies and it means not having to do loads of runs backwards and forwards also as long as you use the Barge in a roleplay situation and keep up the roleplay you get to keep it.
So basically putting restrictions on what it can be used for and how it can be used would in my opinion be a good idea

The barge was litterally the main reason I came to disco 4 years ago. I stayed with determination that on the day the barge would return, I'd try to snag one for myself for a Roleplay idea i had for the {Voided}. But after hearing that it was strictly a NPC asset, That killed most of my motivation because of a small wish to just fly one around and spend hundreds of millions in Roleplay assets from various places. Perhaps one day it'll really be back.

Afaik Barge was given to factions to use as a storage unit. Since POBs that sorta thing is not necessary.

That’s the whole idea @diamond1 I want it to be part of the game again but under a roleplay situation where it can’t be misused so anyone who can shed some light and some ideas would be great.
I am going to keep this thread going until I get what I want lol

Both models of the barge are back in the game files, and you can SRP one if you wish. Go wild. There's nothing stopping you from SRP requesting a Barge.

OSI had one and we used to use it for getting supplies on Mass, HOWEVER. The time it takes to manuver the beast it really isnt time effective, Its fun to have as a "thing to own" But usefulness wise it just isnt. Its hard to dock and next to impossible to land on a planet. And be sure to have a /stuck macro set up should you ever even get close to astaroids. For it to be of any use i think jumping and having smaller ships trade cargo to it is the only time its any sort of useful

i guess youve never flown one then
i have, and they are useless, takes far too long to travel/turn anything, your better off sticking to a 5k it would be quicker

I have flown one and while they are a massive pain they can be useful and I wouldn't mind owning one.
