Long-lasting friendship. - Aoi Oono - 03-07-2020

Aoi stood before Chateau d'Or at pause - she's been working in Bretonia for about half a year already - and such call was the last thing she expected to receive. Not only she was invited to Bretonia's recently acquired world's headquarters - Aoi suddenly got to meet Katherine - one person she had remarkably fond memories of - there, of all places... even though it, without a shadow of a doubt, was reality - it was still hard to believe, that they would meet under such circumstances...
... but the meeting wouldn't happen if she was just standing there. The gingerhead shook her head to get rid of the last doubts she had before taking a step through the gates helpfully opened by soldiers, and strolled over to the main hall - that is where Oono planned to wait for Katherine, assuming she was inevitably going to pass there.

RE: Long-lasting friendship. - Karst - 03-07-2020

As she gazed out the window of the shuttle that had been provided to ferry her to the Bretonians' facility, Katherine found herself in a state of unusual trepidation.
It was one thing to be back in relative civilization, as much as the remote and war-torn planet could be considered such, but that much she could handle, despite her increasing discomfort in those environments. That she would be both committing to a potentially longer-term contract, and that it would be alongside one of her previous protégés, was another thing entirely.

She could not help but think of Melia, of how she had left her with positive words of new contacts and potential successes. Melia hadn't been happy, and though Katherine had tried her best, she wondered which one of the two she was really trying to convince of the safety of this mission. No doubt they knew much of her sympathies, a lot of which she had told them herself. There was no way of shaking the doubts and paranoia, as much as she tried to remind herself that this would be a very strange way indeed of getting rid of her, if that were the humans' plan.

And then her thoughts wandered to Aoi. It had been a very long time since Katherine had correspondence with her, and it seemed an almost unimaginable coincidence that they would find themselves together under this employment. Katherine had told her almost everything, had spoken openly about the Great Unification, and the girl was sympathetic. She had felt a wonderful connection with the young explorer, but what had happened since then, and how had she ended up in the Bretonians' employ?

If she could reconnect as she had before, and the two could perhaps create a branch within whatever specific subdepartment the Bretonians were organizing this under, it would be a better job offer than she could have hoped for.
Or, she thought, if she and Aoi made it out alive, that would at least be a valuable experience.

Katherine was so lost in thought, she was thoroughly startled when the shuttle entered landing sequence, and the chauffeur announced their arrival at the estate.
Still very much in contemplation, she disembarked and made her way to the gates. Evidently not expecting anyone else, the guards wordlessly gestured her inside, and she entered the building.
