I don't honestly think you have a problem with Zoner definitions, I think it is just an easy push button for you to stir the pot, but I am going to answer this anyway.

Any organization that has primary control of an inhabited star system has the resources to create warships. Whether they have the desire is a separate issue.

In the case of the Zoners, believing that they would maintain no-fire zones without caps is unreasonable for the simple point that a moving ship can get beyond the range of the station's ability to respond.

Add to that the idea that law enforcement in your own territory must be able to generate an "equal response" and you have all the argument you need for Zoner caps.

It might be more reasonable to rename the Zoners to Indies, as in, Independent/Non-Affiliated Nations, but that breaks from the "historical" story line.

I leave all the artificial rules about PLAYER behavior/ability out of the discussion (a generic rule about cruiser piracy being one of the more recent examples).

Zoners = Freelancers with caps. Merge the Zoner IFFs with FL and you will have zero difference except less of caps in game

its funny but the things you people are upset about are bombers
the only reason caps have a say in snub fights is bombers

logically, caps arent even close to being the problem, but bombers being snub sized leading to caps needing guns that can shoot snub-sized targets down which results in capital ship loadouts designed to kill snubs

dont know about you but theres some seriously flower game design right there

a specific ship class was never and will never be "the problem", it's the balance of that ship class and people need to understand that
if there's one game on this planet where the saying "don't hate the player, hate the game" applies, it's here.

+1 my man gets it.

Also I kinda agree on alot of things you mentioned in the post and would like to take my time to respond to all of that (but sadly would take me a wall of text too and yes I read all of it) even with some disagreements as example the PoB thing. I don't think it was a nice addition as they are, but the idea itself was great just realy poorly implemented making players too attached to that damn thing.

Not really though. Zoners can't offer escorts to anyone but Zoners, nor take bounties, nor do they have ID lines to attack bases. ZM's might be exceptions, and should be. You'd think of all those Zoner caps out there, some would wind up in the hands of the extremists.

And I was the Zoner Militia from Bering, and the main thing that sank that idea and why no one wanted to play it was they wouldnt allow the aquilon or neph. Thats how it always goes here, go have fun, but we'll find a way to make sure what you really want to do is impossible.

Can the BAF not handle themselves out in Exeter? Not even handle an Aquilon or Neph?

People frowning on the fun stuff is the toxicity that supresses activity! And all of this recent drama proves we need a system that both players and staff follow so no one can be accused of bias anymore. But the Devs will have to accept some less scripted events and give a little or this place will finally die from players actually being fed up.

If this is a private server, they should just be open about it, declare an end to any oversite or player development, and accept people will not play as much anymore as such. Or its time to open it up and loosen the reigns. You can't keep people here tricked chasing carrots on sticks forever. I love this place but am pretty much not playing anymore until they make some changes because after so many years, its almost maddening to go online still. But its ok, after 10 years we have a snac nerf and tons of rules on what we cant do, but only one activity added in that time, sci data mining. I suppose POB's were added yes, and they add a huge potential to the game. But more ideas on things to do in the game would do a lot to breathe reason into being active.

They never realized that when population dropped, the gaps filled by lots of player availability could be avoided. Now, without something real going on in game, there's little reason for vets to log anymore, or for new players to stay here.

I am a call it as I see it guy, I know many will disagree and I look forwards to examining the arguments already. Instead of doing a bunch of threads, might as well lay out my issues all in one place, and undoubtedly for the last time.

1. Lack of closed roleplay/immersion:

I know many see it as completely unreasonable to go back, but the truth is, ditching closed roleplay helped destroy this place. It now lacks completely substance and depth. Apparently everyone should just belong to every faction. That also underscores though that there is no real depth to any action being done here. There are no real secrets, no one bothers anymore, since its pointless and frowned upon (by the weak, who's only option is to oorp'ly pressure things to be better for them).

Basically though, it was always better, and always would be better, to have real teams, and real sides. As 'real' as real gets for a video game. I know many here can't get into it though without scratching at each others' eyes, so I often wonder how much better things could have been if the lost boys here weren't so immature.

I agree with this point, I personally came to Disco thinking it was way more locked down between the factions, naturally, people want to be in more than just few factions but I'd like to see how restrictions on this would look like.
