-Faction Lore (Hispanian Unity Concordium Crusaders)
--Neuralnet Summary:
Crusaders fight for the future of the small united Hispania colonist population that is the Hispanian Unity Concordium, and seek to unite their scattered people, against all odds. They are mostly comprised of Corsairs, Outcasts and Zoners working under a concordat to help realize the dream of a unified Hispanian People.
--Background:
Considering that the vast majority of Corsairs and Outcasts are all bountied and marked for death or life imprisonment by House authorities, the Hispanian Unity Concordium has permitted the reorganization of these individuals into a capable privateer force. These Hispanian Crusaders would work for the early interests of the Concordium and fight the most obvious enemies of Hispanian Unity without the constraints of House rules or borders and without the requirement of clean criminal records. The first organized combat force of Hispanian Unity Concordium Crusaders is the Xiphos Flotilla.
-Parent Group Lore (Hispanian Unity Concordium)
--Background:
A number of individuals from the Edge Worlds have agreed that humanity was only made more vulnerable by the fateful destruction of the Sleeper Ship Hispania. Many Corsairs and Outcasts, realizing that their mostly territorial conflict has no forseeable end, frequently participated in secret peace talks at Freeport 9 for many years after the First Nomad Incursion of 800 A.S., and have finally pledged their unity, signing a concordat which would enable their reorganization into a Concordium that seeks to restore Hispania.
Some Corsairs and Outcasts, children of Hispania, never forgot the lesson that the Exodus of the Alliance from the Sol System offered humanity. With time, the Sirius colonists, as represented by the Great Houses, again raised borders and casted shadows over their neighbors, renewing the cycle of conflict. The Hispanians that formed the Concordium have decided that they would act on that knowledge, and shall progressively establish colonies around Sirius, expanding the reaches of humanity like was the original dream, starting again without the weaknesses and temptations that House borders create. Their life on the Edge Worlds. the example of the Zoners, and the revelation of Nomads have all served to enlighten them. Although they may never reap most of the benefits of their work during their lifetimes, this group led by benevolent Hispanians have pledged their lives to planting seeds of unity.
The Hispanian Unity Concordium is dedicated to the long-term goals of unifiying Hispanians, not quickly into an isolationist House, but slowly into a Sirius-wide fraternity that works together to eliminate the harmful and vain differences that have existed before and after humanity settled in the Sirius Sector, adopting the creed that the fate of Hispania has provided their descendants with the knowledge and will to set aside their differences and one day fully claim their inheritance as a decentralized power within the Sirius Sector.
-Key Figures Lore
--Squadron Leader Caelius Moya
Served for many years as the chosen escort and protector of the Crete diplomats during the secret peace talks that took place in the Omicron Theta system. He now defends the Xiphos Flotilla of Hispanian Crusaders (HUCX) as the Squadron Leader of Solidus Squadron (Solidus-1). Because the appointed Commodore of the Xiphos Flotilla remains safely anonymous, and given the authority and reputation that Caelius holds within the Corsairs for 12 years of service to the Hispanians of Crete as the oldest loyal member of The Brotherhood when the Concordium was formed, Caelius is often given complete operational authority for Hispanian Crusaders in their various combat operations.
-Offshoot Group Lore
--Corsair Lore
---Neuralnet Summary:
“The Corsairs are believed to be the largest criminal organization operating in Sirius -- frequently attacking civilian, commercial, and even military targets.”
---Original Planet Crete Information Excerpt:
"Scratching out a living, the Corsairs managed a bleak existence for four centuries. Eventually they developed a strong self-identity, isolated from the rest of the Houses. In 450 AS, that insular world changed. An exploratory expedition headed by Franz Schulman -- financed by Daumann and the Rheinland government -- stumbled into the system while mapping the far reaches of the Walker Nebula. The local inhabitants, sensing a historic opportunity, attacked the landing party en masse, killing all save Schulman, whom they took hostage to gain control of the mother ship Schiller in orbit above the planet."
--Outcast Lore
---Neuralnet Summary:
“Little information is available about the Outcasts, but they are believed to be heavily involved in the trafficking of the drug Cardamine.”
---Original Planet Malta Information Excerpt:
"The Outcasts were now truly separated from the rest of humanity -- changed so that they could never expand beyond the planet on which they had landed. They needed the Cardamine now, like air or food or water. But with the origin of the sickness solved, they could at least compensate by carrying supplies of Cardamine with them and resume their exploration of their surrounding systems. When they encountered the rest of the Houses in the seventh century, a new strategy emerged. The Outcasts would deliver the poison that would rot the other Houses from the inside out and grow rich from the profits of their trade."
