Not able to connect - DjDec - 03-17-2009

For some reason my friend cant connect.
He has McAffee security, anyone else had the same problem with McAffee?
I heard it can be annoying by not allowing connections to games

Are there more than 195 people on? The last 5 slots are reserved for adminz.

I have the same problem,but i don't have mcaffe,I use nod 32.
I was ok until 2 days ago.this morning it was about 70 players online and I couldn't connect.
First there is message "the operation is taking longer theh expected...."and then kicks me out.
Sometimes I managed to connect but after 5,6 minutes kicks me out.
this has become a huge problem to me because the trading is not possible in this conditions.
HELP:(
P.S.
Nod 32 is not the problem,it's checked.

I forgot to tell,I am using xp profesional sp3 windows
NOT vista.

Not able to connect - Crossfire - 03-18-2009

Unfortunately I'm having problems as well - in Vista x64 (cue screaming now). I have looked through the above thread to no avail. I have gone through all the steps, shut off Windows Firewall, uninstalled AV software, installed and run everything as Administrator...

Freelancer starts fine and I can see the RP server listed in the multiplayer server window. However, when I attempt to connect I get the "taking longer than expected" message, and then the "cannot connect" message.

I have opened the necessary ports on my router, and even tried setting my internal IP address to DMZ, to open me up to the internet completely.

Same result.

It's got to be in the OS somewhere, but I'm at a loss. Any suggestions?

C.

Not able to connect - Crossfire - 03-18-2009

I ultimately ended up booting into XP and installing everything from there. Connected without a problem. After going through all the steps and taking all the suggestions, there was still something blocking the connection.

I had already had my system set up for dual-boot, so I just got into XP, installed everything, and connected just fine.

Weird - but I got it working.

I had this problem also with 4.84.and I reported it to admin and in few days he said that he did some adjustments to server and that it should be fine now for me.and it was.
After that everything was great I connected with no problem, but then came 4.85 and the problem is back again.
