The refit of the Liberty Carrier

Liberty Captain James Creed here,

I am the Captain of the Liberty Carrier Argonaute which is undergoing an enormous refit at the moment and I am thinking that this baby of mine could do with some improved firepower for my gunners to have fun with while we engage the nasty individuals who traverse the Liberty skies and cause so much trouble.

We have had the vessel into dry dock for a great number of months to intensify hull integrity and to try and make shield capacity greater, but that has proved to be ineffective at present and we will have to make do with the shields that are currently fitted.

My crew have been hard at work assembling the bridge as the final stages of the overall refit of the inside of the Argonaute and we have totally gutted the shell and made it an impressive interior with new firing mechanisms for the gun batteries and improved scanning equipment to identify hostiles quicker and easier.

Placement of the gun batteries has been hard because we need to fit some rather impressive weapons to this ship which in turn will turn it into a super fortress and will hopefully be invincible once its done.

So I have come today back to Washington Shipyard in Virginia where the original models of these vessels were made so as to see how the refit is coming on, welders doing last minute touches to the hull and supplies and ordinance being loaded which means the kitchens must be nearly done and also as i step aboard I find out that the Bridge is now complete with all new control panels and communications array.

Leaving the ship i make my way to the Equipment requisition area and get hold of the chief grease monkey who looks after all the refits in the establishment and I hand him a piece of paper with a list of some modified weapons that I have heard i can acquire if I have the necessary funding, and the funding i will need is not your usual Sirius credits ... no no ... the commodity needed for buying the said weapons is found deep in outer sections of certain systems in Sirius and I have been able to acquire this commodity from numerous individuals who offer their services for a rather large fee.

Chief Atkins who is the best man I know at fixing things looks at the piece of paper and shakes his head telling me these items will be hard to source......

The list reads

1 x E.M.P Disipation field
which apparently can take down snub shields at a specific distance if they come too close

1 x Autopulse turret
which again takes down shields with a volley of projectiles which fire non stop

1 x Terminator turret
Not quite sure what this does but looks pretty good

1 x Heavy Ion Turret
Again not much known but ive been told its good

1 x Sledge turret
Heavy hitting turret apparently

1 x Kinetic turret
this one packs a punch too

1 x Volley cannon
another hartd hitting turret

Well a list this size is enough for two ships says Atkins and that is where I come in and tell him that I will be acquiring another Liberty Carrier in the next few months which will have a refit aso and use some of the spare weapons that I am buying.

Chief Atkins tells me he will make some enquiries and get the weapons sorted as quickly as he can and have them fitted to Argonaute as soon as humanly possible.

So I board my Bison Transport for now and depart from Washington Shipyard Heading back to Manhatten to finish my days work.

Also I pleasently sit and ponder over the possibility of taking control of the Argonaute as soon as humanly possible which will make me the happiest Captain in the Liberty navy.

After my last visit to Washington Shipyard i was pleasently pleased with the response regarding the ordering of my special weapons and have decided to pay another visit to the installation and talk with the grease monkey again Atkins and see if there is any progress on the said weapons.

Meanwhile the Argionaute has just been fitted with a Hyperspace Beacon unit which can summon a fleet of vessels to its location if it encounters overwhelming forces, this will be such a strategic advantage to Liberty forces and especially Capital ships who find it hard to keep up with the fighter support vessels in some cases.

Of course this hyperspace Beacon system will only be used within the confines of Liberty space and not used for any other means.
and on another note I have ordered and it is ready to fit once it arrives is a Jump Drive 4 unit which can also jump an entire fleet to a specific location, once again if there is a liberty ship in trouble this will be a key advantage.

So I am now on my way to Washington and have hitched a lift on an Interdictor heading for the shipyard because it has propulsion problems and seeing as I know the Captain of the Highlander it is a much appreciated lift and I will buy him some beers later in the bar.

On arrival Atkins is knee deep underneath the hull section of the Argonaute and appears to be shaking his head, well "Mr.creed " he said "the last little test you did was a little too strenuous for this girl at the moment when you encountered that Arbiter and decided to give her a run out properly the hull has received some intense damage from the weapon blasts."

So i informed him that if he fixes the problem i will make sure on the next test fligth I stay close to Washington and dont do anything silly with her.

The encounter with the Arbiter was when me and the Highlander were doing the Hyperspace beacon test and he came up on radar and while a Liberty main force of ships that were operating in the area dealing with some Rogues we had to do something, so we decided to engage him but he went into the Badalnd area which is really difficult for a Capital ship to traverse and he got stuck very easy and we exchanged fire and eventually took him down, with some damage taken unfortunately.

Atkins had been talking to his chief engineer who had been labelled with getting the order sorted for my special weapons and he politely informed me that they would be built from scratch and would be available within the next 30 days seeing as the demand for such equipment has been low lately.

So I asked him to proceed with the relevant order and I handed over payment for the items securely and safely and now it is just a matter of time waiting to get confirmation they are here and I will personally oversee the fitting of the weapons once they arrive and also be storing the surplus weapons for the second Atlantis Carrier that will be using them.

Soooo...... this is the day I get to see the arrival and installation of the weapons to Argonaute.

Docking at Washigton Shipyard with baited breath and my heart pumping really fast and as I stride from the LPI shuttle who agreed to bring me here I wonder how best to fit the weapons will be.
Grease monkey atkins stands with his arms folded next to seven very large crates in the requisition area which is highly classified and for this I have been given special clearance to be in the area to see the crates opened.
So one by one the crates are opened and my new magnificent weapons are positioned on the pallets so i can see which ones to install on Argonaute and after a few discussions the decision is made and we start to hoist each weapon one by one roughly into its hardpoint position on my precious ship.

We have to rearrange a couple of them because I also managed to source two more weapons myself which I came across out of the blue being transported to a scrap yard and have managed to get them operational again.
So the bolting on procedure is started and eventually all the weapons will be ready to test in the specialised testing area that has been hired for a few hours.

I walk the rest of the ship and do alot of final checks myself to see if everything is the way I want it and then make my way to the bridge where my chief engineer is busy wiring in the battleship scanner to the console.
Then I sit in my command chair and I do believe I am itching to take Argonaute for her first fully fitted Test flight seeing as weve had four dummy runs already to test the engines and the normal firing mechanisms and shields.

So after a few hours all the weapons are mounted and she looks magnificent and she is ready to go, so now final details are being done to fully commission LNS-Argonaute to the Liberty Navy and put her into full service especially now that there is trouble in Bering and Texas at the moment and she can be tested to her full potential.

But I must say that is not the end fully of the refit no...no... she will be getting extra equipment fitted so she can be an all round asset to any operation that she can be involved in.
Initially she will be able to summon reinforcements if needed when a Hyperspace beacon is activated to help deter any possible surprise attacks that could occur around Liberty and once the second carrier is ready she will be fitted in exactly the same way and to be honest two carriers of the same firepower and equipment will be a force to be reckoned with that there is no doubt.

So now I will head back to Manhatten and sort out my uniform and come back and take this beautiful vessel for a spin around Sirius and I might also give any lads who are in distress a hand in Texas.

I have decided to take Argonaute back to Washington Shipyard yet again and order some more new weapons for her seeing as I was unable to source these weapons elsewhere.

I have heard of an Advanced Flak Turret which can be purchased from certain places, so if I go and see the grease monkey Atkins again I'm sure he will be able to sort these out for me and also fit them whenever possible.

Argonaute docks at Washington and I make my way to the workshops and see Atkins hard at work on a Seige Cruiser which seems to have had some extensive damage and I interupt him for a second and ask him if he can source these weapons for me and obviously let me know when I can bring Argonaute again to have them fitted.

Creed : "So my good friend I would like 2 of these Advanced Flaks please and can you get em as soon as possible please"

Atkins : "My good Captain you are spending some cash on these, I will get right on it Sir"

I depart from Washington Shipyard back on my way to California to join other Liberty forces who are congregating there to supress the unlawful activity near Willard.

Message reads : Dear Cpt.Creed your new weapons are here ready to be fitted to Argonaute.

I quickly inform the crew we are to make all speed to Washington Shipyard so we can dock argonaute and get these weapons fitted as soon as possible.
Hopefully this will be my complete weapons package and also it means we have sufficient weapons for the other ship now and I have decided to Purchase an Overlord instead of another Carrier so we will be fitting her out very very soon so all that is needed now is another captain for the other ship.

As we dock at Washinton I'm pleased with the way things are going and now we seem to have a complete ship and crew to help out the fight in Liberty.

After the installation of the next set of weapons the Argonaute has been put into stasis of refit again and will be expecting some more Sledge turrets that will complement the other weapons that have been purchased and also the Introduction of the LNS-Bounty which I have also managed to acquire at a very reasonable price from being decommissioned and hopefully we can divide all weapons between the two vessels and make two formidable fighting vessels.

My next step is to assign a Captain to the LNS-Bounty and I have just the right person for the job a very excentrict character he is but iv'e known him for years and is very efficient at his duties and will fit in marvellously well so as before I am going to see my grease monkey friend Atkins who will order the weapons for me again.

So i explain to Atkins I need more weapons and he tells me I should have them relatively quickly and fitted as soon as possible so I ask him to go ahead and order them for me.

So once again another order has been made to secure more weapons and make my two ships the ultimate fighting force.......

It is with great regret that I have to announce that after I have spent all my time refitting the Argonaute that I have developed a health problem which does not enable me to carry on as Captain of the Liberty Carrier Argonaute.

She will be decommissioned and stripped of all weapons and unfortunately will not be recommissioned at any time ........ever really.

I am saddened to have to do this as all I wanted was to make sure she brought glory to the Liberty Navy and made a name for herself as a formiddable fighting ship.

This decommission will take immediate effect and as stated above I will be standing down as her Captain.

Well a very very surprising outcome to my dilemma of decommissioning the Argonaute has just been handed to me.....

My Son and coincidentally who has the exact same name as me has passed his exams and his flight training and became rank of Captain from the Navy Academy and he will be assigned to the Argonaute with immediate effect.

This means that the family tradition is now being kept alive by my Son with whom im very proud of and hope he can make the Argonaute as great as I wanted her to be.

After passing over command of the Argonaute to my Son Creed Jnr it has pleased me greatly thet he has taken cmmand and whipped the crew into a geat team and have made some quite interesting sorties into California and made contact with the very nasty insurgency who for some reason are trying to take a foothold on the system.

James keeps me up to date with all of his missions and I am so glad that he has taklen to the Argonaute with ease and his command will be long and successful.

Also I am pleased to announce the introduction of Jame's cousin Jasper Horatio who has also taken command of a rather impressive vessel the LNS-Bounty Overlord class Battleship which has seen a little combat also in California but at the moment will be putting her crew through their paces and making them as good as the Argonaute.

So for now I will sign off and will keep everyone informed of the progress of the Argonaute and the Bounty.

Now then my friends I may aswell introduce myself,

I am Captain James Creed Jnr and I have taken over as Captain of the Argonaute and have established quite a good relationship with the crew, and i have been putting them through their paces in California where we have encountered a few insurgence vessels and suffered damage within the last few days.

The crew have showed decent establishment of my command and have performed really well in combat and we just need to improve our response times when we are needed.

The Argonaute will go through another refit in the near future which will entail fitting two docking modules which are capable of taking small craft on board and will be able to repair these craft if needed and we will be fitting a command centre adjacent to the bridge which will be used to help the small crafts dock and restock and relaunch if needed and it will be a valuable asset to the secondary fleet for these purposes.

Argonaute has already a hyperspace matrix fitted which can enable other ships to jump through a jump drive system and assist when needed.

Another addition to the Argonaute will be a Cloaking device which will be fitted within the next few days also, and will be tested rigorously within the next few days.

Well I must sign off for now and relocate the Argonaute to Washinton shipyard to have its cloaking device fitted.
