Not even seven and a half minutes between docks, and I'm looking at ~17 million, which even with fairly conservative rounding works out to 130+ million an hour. The rough baseline for powertrading profit has long been considered around 100/h. Now admittedly this is an example of a particularly good mission, and the profits are far more variable than they are for powertrading.
But also, I am by no means a mission minmaxer, I've only tried a very small handful of locations and shiptypes. I'm sure the people that have fully optimized their loadouts and found the best spots are making more than that.
Scaling is also way off: Gunboats seem to be by far the best, giving 3/4 the credits of cruisers, but spawning easily triple the number per mission while being much easier to kill. Pure gunboat missions regardless of level are zero risk for a solo battlecruiser, while being far more profitable than cruiser, much less battlecruiser missions. Even high level snub missions are (probably?) better than the higher cap missions due to much greater spawns and much greater ease of killing.

From a balance perspective, powertrading should always be superior to missions for the obvious reason that involves traveling in a vulnerable state. Missions are more akin to mining in that they are location-bound, but not only is the area much larger - potentially a substantial portion of a system - but also a single battlecruiser, nevermind a capfleet team, aren't "targets" the way a miner is.

I think the PVE bonuses against snubs and gunboats in particular really need to be lower.

Maaannnnnn Can you not? This is not "overpowered" Its a great way to people like me who dont fly transports to make some decent money. Its really not that strong.

Who wrote that rule???

Edit: Your not even taking into consideration the time it takes to find these good missions in the bars. It can take up to 4-5 re logs to even fine something depending on your location.

>substantially more profitable than powertrading ore
>"not overpowered"

Choose one?

Are you actually unironically failing to see why moving across Sirius in a 5k deserves to be more profitable than moving in a 25k radius from a friendly base in a cau8 battlecruiser?

And four or five relogs takes what, 30 seconds?

RE: Missions are overpowered - Skorak - 06-15-2020

I'm fine with it ever since ore trading became insanely boring.
Maybe some slight tweaking but it's certainly more fun than flying the same route 100 times.

RE: Missions are overpowered - Kalhmera - 06-15-2020

I know you worked hard on that ore rework thing that not many people liked including myself, perhaps buff the ore prices a bit so you guys who love to stare at nothing for 5+ systems can feel more accomplished. But leave the PVE system alone. It has generated a lot of activity and gives players a great way to earn money while having fun.

RE: Missions are overpowered - Lord Helmchen - 06-15-2020

Hey i dot think its overpowerd to. yea you can make money but you have also a risk. you can never say what you up against in a 2 to 3 mill mission for example, it could be a bunch of Gunboats or a Flottila of Cruisers. so its not certain if you win or not. also i had realy fun blowing up some NPCs with my Battleship Yesterday, it gives the Cap`s a whole new reason to exist. and the players a reason to coorpeate in the Higher Paid Missions. also if you got that much money Congratulations, why are you complaining about.

Edit:

also as a Trader Player and former Ore Miner i can say ore mining had become boring you cant variate the routes anymore you have always the same destination as a trader i can chose where to fly and if i take the highest price or the nicer Route

RE: Missions are overpowered - Lythrilux - 06-15-2020

Is it really "Missions cannot be better than trading! Missions are killing the lanes!" again? Remember what happened last time, missions got nerfed into the ground and the game was worse off for it.

The addition of the mission rework made the player count explode in a way trading has been unable to. It's a fun way to make money, that bar some certain situations that people are aware of (ie Delta) are fun, positive ways to make money and contribute actively to the server.

Things really do not need to be changed, The issue with trading is that trading is utterly boring and doesn't feel rewarding. Fix issues with trading, instead of nerfing missions.

RE: Missions are overpowered - HrabCOrp - 06-15-2020

I had some cool teamwork doing missions with guys. A lot of fun and activity. I'd say the profit is just okay. And yes, it is not always that easy. Especially, if two of you are facing several Marduks with infinite powercores.

P.S. Good to have something +- worthy to shoot outside Conn.
Edit: More battles, more engagement, more activity, more co-op, more life.

RE: Missions are overpowered - Hemlocke - 06-15-2020

Or we could keep it the way it is so people populate systems with something other than afk silent 5k powertrading lapdogs and cry that pirates exist, and keep this so there is an alternate path to gain funding than afk powertrading which forces most people to alt-tab due to how damn boring it is, I very much like that I can make a decent profit in a snub now rather than being forced to trade, on the off chance I get blown the hell up and all my invested time is lost, I have an actual fighting chance against the beefed up NPCs that give a challenge.

Stop messing with one of the best additions to disco? K thanks.

+ Celeste

Missions are great and added a lot of fun. They are not overpowered as In +3.8kk missions i never know who's gonna be the last standing.
As Celeste said, do not ruin whats positive left to do in space.
