The Sanguine Lance

The Sanguine Lance is a mercenary corps consisting of a tight-knit group of Freelancers that adhere to a strict code of professionalism.
Colloquially referred to as the Crimson Lance or Lance Corps, the Sanguine Lance operates throughout Sirius, offering their services to the highest bidder.
Their status and connections as Freelancers allow them a degree of tolerance from other factions as they have their uses and their loyalty, at least for the duration of the contract, is easy enough to obtain with credits.

While the Sanguine Lance has not yet started operating in Gallia, preliminary talks with the Unione Corse are exploring the possibilities for tapping into the Gallic market.

Goals:

- Spread the reputation of the Sanguine Lance as an efficient mercenary group far and wide.
- Earn lots and lots of credits.
- Maintain the delicate balance between lawful and unlawful contracts without getting into too much trouble.
- Earn even more credits.

Methods: The Sanguine Lance prides itself on its professional attitude while on the job, Lances take their Trainees along on individual contracts to show them the ropes while the Captains lead several Lances into battle when a contract requires more than one or two Lances. That said, while off duty they are known to be among the loudest in any bar, occasionally causing fights though rarely one they cannot win or get into too much trouble for.

Formally the Sanguine Lance operates exclusively with Lawful entities, providing assistance on the spot when hired to do so or executing specific tasks as part of a contract. Due to the organization not being too large and not fielding especially large ships they are afforded a degree of flexibility that law enforcement commonly lacks, able to enforce a contract throughout Sirius.

However like many organizations the Sanguine Lance has a side it hides from the public, accepting lucrative jobs from unlawful organizations as well by using unmarked ships. This is however, a well-kept secret and is mostly handled through Junkers to avoid direct contact, besides, paying customers on the unlawful side know the virtue of silence lest they lose out on such a valuable tool, if they even knew they were actually dealing with the Sanguine Lance at all.

Lances may accept any contract they deem worthwhile for themselves or their Trainee, the Sanguine Lance holds its members individually responsible for any potential consequences that might occur. Because of this policy Lances pay close attention to the judgement of their Trainee, making sure that they are able to weight the pros and cons of each job.

Once the Sanguine Lance has accepted a job they will see it through to the end, the only exceptions being when they were lied to about the work or if the client breaks one of the terms of the contract.

Field of Operation

Sirius

The Sanguine Lance operates throughout the Houses of Sirius, the Border Worlds and some of the Edge World Systems.
They have however stayed away from the Omicrons unless specifically contracted to go there.
This is both to minimize risk of infection and thus becoming pawns of the Nomads as well as avoiding competition with the Core;
whom have attempted to monopolize the Omicrons as their territory, no point in fighting unless you're paid for it anyway.

With the Gallic war ended the Sanguine Lance has started considering expanding into the new Sector but has not done so as of yet.

Technology Used

Snubcraft

The Sanguine Lance fields a wide variety of snubcraft ranging from all corners of Sirius, laws of an employer are always considered when determining what Lances to assign to a contract however when the Sanguine Lance signs a contract with a government it will often include a clause that allows the Sanguine Lance to field whatever ship is deemed needed to get the job done regardless of what normal technological restraint imposed by that governments laws.

The Sanguine Lance rarely fields anything larger than a Gunboat though ambitions are present within the mercenary corps to expand and add larger vessels to their fielding capabilities.

Ranks:

General

The General is the leader of the Sanguine Lance, wielding the final decision on whether or not to accept larger contracts and what entities to avoid doing business with.

Captain

Veteran Lances can be trusted with the rank of Captain, giving them authority over several Lances during larger contracts should the need arise. Outside of larger contracts they function much like Lances and sometimes have a Trainee appointed to them that shows particular promise. Captains also fill an advisory role to both the General and Lances.

Lance

Experienced members of the Sanguine Lance that have proven themselves in battle and earned their stripes. They follow the lead of a Captain when on larger contracts but have the ability to accept individual contracts as well. They are often accompanied by a Trainee that reports to them so they can learn the ropes.

Trainee

All fresh meat that join the ranks of the Sanguine Lance start in this position, essentially new recruits that are placed under the supervision and tutelage of a Lance until they prove themselves and rise to the rank of Lance themselves.

Nice to see the Atlas corporation taking interest in the Freelancer universe.

As is stated in the feedback thread, a temporary symbol until our own is ready Tongue rest assured we have no intention of copy pasting.

Why not use BHG ID instead? There is enough Freelancer mercenary corps that came and went in the foreseeable past, and Bounty Hunters are essentially underrated and barely used - except few rare individuals.

So, why have you chosen Freeallancer ID over Bounty Hunters?

The Bounty Hunter ID would have effectively cut our potential for rp in half by eliminating the more shady deals that would be possible.
The Freelancer ID allows for more intrigue, albeit that mostly depends on what the client hires us for.
The Freelancer ID also allows us to consider several other factions such as the Core and the Bretonian Privateers to be inrp competition/rivals
which will hopefully lead to fun and unique interactions.
Basically while both IDs share similar limitations and aspects, we found the Bounty Hunter ID to be too limiting for what we wanted to do.
