Extremetech.com has posted an article entitled "5 more games that won't die!" and guess what? Freelancer is one of them! What's more Discovery mod is specifically mentioned in the article, and it even briefly talks about the 4.85 release.

That was an option in the beta of FL, but it didn't make the cut for the release.

That article looks really good. It managed to convey the essence of Freelancer on very limited space. Even though Disco got focus, a good attempt at making it fair was made.
Sections about the other games seem good as well. Allegiance might be worth checking:)
And co-op in FL? Wow... never heard of it, although I went from SP directly to Disco RP Server.
