Cryer Announces Successful Field Trial
CARLISLE - Cryer Pharmaceuticals announced today the successful trial of a counteragent to the deadly bacteria native to Carlisle. Since the planet's discovery during the initial exploration of the Newcastle system, Carlisle has been a considered a prime candidate for colonisation by Her Majesty's Government. The presence of an unusually virulent and deadly bacterial strain native to the planet has thwarted all past attempts at colonisation and has proven resistant to standard antibacterial agents.

Cryer's new experimental counteragent, developed in cooperation with Cambridge University under a grant from Her Majesty's Government, has been successfully deployed at a test site on Windermere Island in Carlisle's northern ocean. Windermere's isolated location, well away from other landmasses on Carlisle, made it the ideal test site. Volunteers at the Windermere Research Station have certified the entire island as clear of all traces of the bacteria and safe for human life. Cryer is currently working with Planetform to develop a plan for planetwide deployment of the counteragent as soon as Parliament clears them to proceed.

The House of Lords is expected to take up the issue in their next meeting, where little opposition is expected. BBC will continue to follow this story as it develops.
