Explosion Damage Falloff - Mephistoles - 07-10-2020

Pillow and I are having a giant fight and I'm about to rip his head off.

I am under the impression that damage falloff was deactivated on Discovery years ago, because of the problem with explosives not reaching the centre of big ships and making them immune to things like novas and CDs. I remember it being cracked and posted on TSP by someone like M0tah or Foxunit a long time ago, though I don't remember who did it exactly, or when.

Pillow is under the impression it was actually deactivated very recently, something like 2018-2019.

Can someone advise when falloff was first deactivated?

Falloff was first deactivated in 4.86 I believe. It was re-enabled nearly a year ago, and has been fixed a few months ago so it works as it did back in 4.85, but without the issues it caused.

I don't know what mod version numbers mean, because I am dumb. What year was that?

Also are you sure it was re-enabled a year ago? That doesn't sound right to me.

2015-2016 ish is when it was first disabled.

I'm sure, because I still remember whining to devs about how people can right click with CD/mine enabled and get free 17k damage within 60m around them without any effort required when I came back, and I came back in Oct 2019.

I concur, the re-implementation of the falloff is fairly recent. As for when it was deactivated first, I have no clue.
