ID: Jonathan Seabourne Location: OS&C|Breezewood, Planet Curacao, Cortez To: Junker Congress Subject: Attack on Reverie Greetings friends, My name is Jonathan Seabourne, captain of the luxury liner Breezewood and chairman of Orbital Spa and Cruise. A few hours ago, one of our liners, Reverie, under command of Captain Theobald Franklin, was attacked and crippled by a ship flying Junker colors in Omega-7. The vessel opened fire before issuing demands and continued to fire upon the liner before said demands could be met. The ship had to be abandoned with significant loss of life of our crew. Fortunately, there were no passengers aboard, or this could have quickly escalated to even more of a tragedy.
Obviously, by your very nature and by deliberate design, the Congress does not speak for all Junkers. However, we would appreciate a statement condemning the nature of this attack and a reminder that Orbital is a civil organization. We always seek out understandings that lets everyone fly away happy, and we encourage all parties to negotiate first and fire second. We prosper more by working together. Incidentally, we have also placed a bounty on the vessel in question, one "Silver_Chariot". Should the Congress or any of its members bring this individual to justice, they would be handsomely compensated and it would go a long way to rebuilding faith in the Junker community on the part of OS&C. Subject: That Junker in Omega-7 Hello, I am Ian Howler, the Commandant of the Junker Congress Defense Cabinet. Thank you for bringing this incident to our attention. It is as you said, that we do not speak for all Junkers in Sirius. Though we do absolutely disagree with the actions taken by the Junker in question, I must stress that as the Junker does not belong to our organization, there is not much we can do about it. Feel free to pursue the bounty placed on the offending pilot, but please understand that the Junker Congress cannot just go and arrest an unaffiliated Junker, nor "bring them to justice". It just wouldn't make sense for us to punish somebody outside of our organization. It is beyond the scope of our organization to hunt others down, regardless of their transgressions. Had this Junker had ties to us, we would have drawn up immediate consequences. This individual isn't part of the Congress. Therefore we can't enforce any punishment on them. If you wish to improve relations between our parties, we can offer you help with towing the wreck of your liner to a nearby port, where you can have it refurbished. We can even help with repairs for a fair price. Our stock of perfectly functional repair materials is vast and far cheaper than parts that come straight from the factory. We would also offer a discount as a sign of good faith and as a symbol of our own wishes for good relations between our organizations. I hope this message finds you well, and best wishes to you. In good will, - Ian Howler Commandant, Junker Congress Defense Cabinet. RE: TO: Junker Congress | FROM: OS&C - Jonathan Seabourne - 07-11-2020 - - - - Incoming Transmission - - - -

Having been in a similar position with independent franchisee's smuggling under OS&C's colors, I appreciate the position of being held responsible for someone over whom you have no real authority. To be clear, I don't hold the congress responsible. I know this pilot isn't one of yours. I just have directors and shareholders asking for SOME tangible action. Being able to say that the Congress condemns the attack but admits they don't have jurisdiction over the pilot in question is something I can throw to them, so I thank you for it even though we both ultimately know it is meaningless.
Your repair offer is something I'll pass along to captain Franklin, though I'd understand if he wouldn't be the most trusting of people at this point in time. Subject: RE: RE: That Junker in Omega-7 Mr. Seabourne, I'm glad that your higher-ups at least have something tangible to work with following this incident. It is never desirable for someone flying a flag so similar to your own to mar your reputation. I just hope they'll follow your stance in understanding that this is beyond our reach. This may seem a bit out of the ordinary given the circumstance, but please do inform me, personally, if the Junker in question is caught by your people. I need to keep records on this report. On a side note, Captain Franklin would be right to not be so trusting after what happened, though I'd hope they'd understand that the Congress is anything but brutish savages that attack Liners unprovoked. We are ready, willing, and able to assist your Captain for a much lower bottom-line than your standard mechanic. I would even personally invite your Captain to have a nice glass of Whiskey with me on the Bridge of my Liner, the .:j:.Ferrous.Wheel, if they were so inclined to join me while their vessel was repaired. Thank you, - Ian Howler Commandant, Junker Congress Defense Cabinet. |
