To: The Gallic Royal Enclave - Karst - 08-08-2020 To whom it may concern;
My name is Katherine Pennybrooke, I'm an independent scientist and amateur explorer last employed as a meteorologist on Kurile.
A while ago, I made an effort to find out for myself the reality of the post-war situation in the Taus and western Bretonia. I had met with representatives of the Montluc Advanced Engineering company in the far Omicrons, who encouraged me to visit the remains of Royalist Gallia. I visited, with caution and unarmed, and briefly spoke with Royalist pilots I met. However, my presence was clearly not welcome, and I had to barter for my safe withdrawal. Still, I wish to revisit the space that remains faithful to the monarchy, and I send this mission to inquire about the possibility of doing so. My field is atmospheric physics, and I wish to visit Bordeaux, or Gaia as we call it, and meet with the scientists working there. I have no political intentions; I consider myself a pacifist and I have no motivations in regards to the war, all I want is to establish ties among the scientific communities. If there is any possibility to arrange such a visit, I would be grateful. Thank you for your time. ~ Katherine Pennybrooke RE: To: The Gallic Royal Enclave - Groshyr - 08-08-2020 RES Renaissance, Aquitaine system
8th August, 743 AGS Sender: Commandant Antonin de Lusignan, Enclave Defence Authority Recipient: Katherine Pennybrooke Subject: Hebrides Entrance Permission Ah, mademoiselle Pennybrooke.
I dared to take a look at the report regarding your last visit to the Hebrides. An experimental weapon in your hold but no weapon mounted to the ship itself at all. Not to say that you had no allowance to be where you been and either you had no permission to carry such kind of weaponry... Sounds like you do like to risk, mademoiselle, are you? Your request has been discussed and, taking into account the reasons carrying you to be interested to come on the Bordeaux, you have been granted access to the planet. Nevertheless, you shall follow several terms to ensure your presence will have no harm to us.
And for last - your ship shall be escorted by our fighter and this is not to be discussed. However, do you have any questions? Transmission End

It seems your communiqué has made its way across my desk as well. I am not accustomed to dealing with what amounts to a glorified tourism inquiry, but as far as the Royal Navy is concerned, you are welcome to conduct your business within our space and on the Crown's worlds.
We deign to impose no further constraints on you beyond those already outlined by the Defence Authority, as their judgement regarding the security of the Hebrides themselves is something we are happy to allow to take precedence -- busy as we are with a renewed campaign into the home worlds. Our own scientists may be interested in direct cooperation with you regarding your specific area of expertise, and if you are interested in this avenue of opportunity we encourage you to contact us directly so that your credentials can be formally verified in preparation for a more extensive exchange of ideas. There are no "remains of Royalist Gallia", the Kingdom stands as firm as centuries before. It is a truth that we have faces a number of setbacks on several fronts, but don't get yourself fooled with an enemy propaganda. Such words from Sirian won't be tolerated and I suggest you to watch your tongue if you really want to cooperate in any shape or form. If you will manage to find an officer that would be responsible for you visiting us, you may do so. But I will put you on the watchlist either way.

My previous visit was indeed interesting, I'm glad I had found this weapon which I could barter for my safe release. I know I was taking a bit of a gamble, entering a space which may be hostile to me, so I suppose you're right about me having an appreciation for danger. It's why I arrived unarmed, I figured it improve my chances of getting a warm reception. Anyway, I'll be happy to abide by the rules you are imposing. I've also made contact with an officer who offered to assist me on site, and hopefully she will ensure my visit will go smoothly. To Commodore Dubois;
Thank you for your positive response. It's my opinion that even across national barriers of severe ideological opposition, the efforts of science must remain neutral and trans-national. I'll be happy to share my practical experience in the field with anyone you would want me to work with. To Prévôt Dior;
I meant no offense with my description of the situation. I'm not a politician and I truthfully care little for the political rhetoric on either side of the ongoing conflict, all I want is to do my scientific work. I hope you'll forgive me for any unintended offense I've given. ~ Katherine Pennybrooke |
