Strange two minutes delay/lag - Pepe - 08-16-2020

I had this strange lag since end of 2019, but during this summer it ended. Now it's back. My usual ping is 60-80.

- it happens when I see more than few players
- their ships are jumping all over the place
- I type /ping several times, nothing happens. Same with messages.
- I shoot CD, I hear it's sound but nothing else happens
- I shoot my guns, they make no damage

Then I leave the place until no one is on my radar (if I don't die before leaving, pressing nanobots, but being not able to heal). It takes like 1-2 minutes.

- old messages start coming like crazy
- my /ping commands start showing, with such replies:
[14.08.2020 19:20:00] Ping: 72ms (Max: 1000ms) Fluct: 5ms Loss: 1% (Max: 70%) Lag: 0% (Max: 100%)
[14.08.2020 19:38:32] Ping: 84ms (Max: 1000ms) Fluct: 5ms Loss: 6% (Max: 70%) Lag: 0% (Max: 100%)
[14.08.2020 19:52:20] Ping: 61ms (Max: 1000ms) Fluct: 1ms Loss: 0% (Max: 70%) Lag: 2% (Max: 100%)
[14.08.2020 19:52:57] Ping: 78ms (Max: 1000ms) Fluct: 6ms Loss: 0% (Max: 70%) Lag: 0% (Max: 100%)
[14.08.2020 19:53:21] Ping: 82ms (Max: 1000ms) Fluct: 8ms Loss: 0% (Max: 70%) Lag: 4% (Max: 100%)

Is this coming from my side? Sometimes I fly with Thunday who is using same router and modem as I. He says all is fine for him. We never use wifi, our Net is cable, our Speedtest shows ping 15-20, download 45Mb, upload 3-4Mb.

What to do?

tHaT'S a RoUtINg IsSuE

if seriously, they have migrated the server since 2019, if it was server's fault, it would have been solved. If it would occur when more people appear on the radar, I'd suspect bad HDD sectors/dying SSD or something along these lines.

I mean if Thunderer is at the same location, and it's fine for him, then it's most likely local hardware/OS/Game installation to blame. Try to install game on the different drive or even USB first and see how it goes. Then maybe try checking drivers/OS and reinstalling all of that.

Hi there,

you could try a small linux installation with lutris.
If the problems persist, then it's your internet connection.
If it doesn't then it's your windows.

regards

New discovery lancher was not working with Wine last I checked it. There's account switcher that @Misfit wrote, but I did not check it out.

What exactly to pay attention to, as only number of players triggers it?

No players - no delays.

Also, I use other applications even more than Disco, but they make no problems on the same PC.

I say recently i have had the same issues! Before this migration everything was fine lag was normal!

Now - as Pepe explained it i have the same problems with players jumping around, disappearing off screen miles away then zooming back!

I know for a fact it's not my PC or my internet! And i can guarantee i play no where near Pepe in comparison to my computer!

Thanks @Shiki, I'm almost sure I solved it thanks to your first line.

My QoS was giving priority to my wife's mobile (to avoid food poisoning), but then she bought another one and more for our kids.

But, nothing of that was messing with Thunday's line, as he had full priority QoS (cuz studying ya know, that little prick).

@Mick, try configuring QoS at your router, my friend.
