Source: Her Majesty's Ship "Rampart", Omega-3 Encryption: Iron Madam Prime Minister and the Cabinet. First and foremost I wish to congratulate you regarding your appointment, please accept my apologies for having not done this sooner. Duty has simply been all-consuming, hence the failure of such social niceties. I understand many officials of the Kingdom find my presence and motivations dubious, and I understand this. Suspicions given my history are more than warranted. I will serve all the same. I contact you to provide a full summary of all pertinent factors currently at play across the system of Nottingham and its associated colony, whom after it a namesake is derived. Planetary conditions, as per BMM's current administrative role in the colony, are poor. Power outages are frequent, flooding of large scale residential blocks more so. This has created great lapses in the number of men we are able to spare in order to keep illegal immigration under control. While indeed a relatively more numerous force than ours, represented by the planetary militia formed during Minister Hacker's tenure does exist, it proves to be ineffective at maintaining proper law and order in the system. This is not to allege that the men are corrupt, but more so that their casualty rates are too high in order to be effective. My men, if only marginally, fare better. But we are few and far between by comparison, and casualties sustained from repulsing raiding parties from either end of the Omega's tumultuous political spectrum is proving increasingly taxing. Of note is an emboldened Corsair and Hessian presence, likely trying to prod for weakness. Gaian terrorism has been on a steady decline in the region, likely focused elsewhere. The Mollys have thus far remained indirect sponsors of increasingly mounting unrest upon the colony. Encouraging dissent against actual shortcomings represented by BMM's administration and perceived failures of the Crown. There have thus far been three protests and one riot, with the latter being broken up without incident thanks to an approach tempered by restraint. I applaud the Prime Minister's decision to forego attempts to cling to Exeter as a colony, the reality is simply that doing so stretched the Armed Forces too thin and put it under more pressure than it can reasonably afford to bear for such an extended duration of time. This has allowed some degree of reinforcements to trickle in to better secure Nottingham with, but conditions on the planet still continue to make such a task monumentally difficult. I express great concern for two such suspicions I have begun to fully realize. The first is that the conflict in Omega-5 is the only thing keeping a decisive raiding party of either Corsairs or Hessians from slamming into the fringes of Bretonia. Should this happen, the Corsairs will no doubt ravage the poorly secured sectors of Omega-3. In the event that the Hessians secure a victory however, they will likely link up with the Mollys of Dublin and begin marauding from Bretonia's other extremity, no longer occupied by their Corsair opponents. The second is that Rheinland very much represents an opportunistic threat to the continued status of Nottingham as one of the Kingdom's colonies. An alarming number of illegal immigrants that we have apprehended have had their origins traced back to Rheinland. While this suspicion could very well be a stretch in term of the conclusion drawn, given recent unrest in Rheinland which might prompt migrations, there is a worrying possibility that this could be part of a greater effort to provide Rheinland with justification for war going forward. In the event that a large populace of Rheinland citizens amass upon Nottingham, it would provide Rheinland with sufficient, albeit suspicious justifications to contest Nottingham's status as a purely Bretonian colony. Having expressed these facts fully and completely, I must therefore appeal for Nottingham to receive increased prioritization, not only in terms of defense, but also direct supervision from the Kingdom's authorities to ensure further mismanagement does not provide subversive forces with excuses to cultivate unrest. Despite these factors, I will continue to organize patrols and regular sweeps of the colony's fringes, to the best of our abilities. We are prepared to hold firm for as long as required, or until rotated to another front or ordered to change focus by appropriate authorities within the forces. I hereby conclude this missive.
