Never did FL multiplayer - ncr1jjb - 09-12-2020

I've been doing PC gaming longer than I care to admit - though I'm sure that's not unusual here. With FL originally, I only did the canned storyline and explored a little after it was done - never got into the multiplayer worlds. Years passed . . .

There's lots more time on my hands these days, so I went looking for FL again and downloaded the base game. After finishing the Nomad campaign, I just gamboled about like I did before, but when I started doing internet searches looking for more to do in the original game world, I found Discovery content almost right away. It took me a while to catch on to just how much has been done here, but it's mind-blowing now that I'm seeing even a small piece of it.

I'm still sorting out the commands and chat functions, so if you see JayBee bungling around and don't get a reply right away - it's not personal.

Welcome! There's a lot to see and explore.

Feel free to just make a character that you use multiple /restarts with to see where their zones of activity are and to have a bit of a fly around.

Send me a PM if you ever want a tour around.

See you out there.

Welcome.

A word of advice: don't jump into pvp right away, some people here have had over a decade to hone their pvp skills so they'll mop the floor with you.
Heck, I've been here since 2010 and I still get my arse handed to me in Connecticut (pvp arena).

Keep in mind that this is a role playing server, you play as your space pilot, not as the person behind the screen, and everybody else does the same, you may get harassed, threatened, or robed by other people depending on which faction you fly as, or by entering in certain systems that belong to certain factions, or by carrying contraband. These are role play consequences, not to be confused with people being mean just for the sake of being mean.

Much appreciated. I'm taking some advice offered above and spending some time as different sorts of characters.

I've recently survived my first successful piracy transaction - though I think I irritated the pirate a bit by having to look up the /givecash command. To credit the rogue's restraint, I didn't quite get blown apart and they were good enough to desist when I actually managed to transfer the credits. Tip that hat - thank you, mein herr.

I also got busted trying to run artifacts into Manhattan - made to dump cargo and such. Cost of doing business. No actual conflict.

Got reminded last night of the limitation of the freelancer ID - I'd grown a little too accustomed to hitting Corsairs and just starting shooting them up wherever I found them rather than on missions or in self-defense. Ahh - that's why Corsairs sometimes show up neutral. A polite reminder was afforded. I stopped into the nearby station to try to figure out where I went askew and carried on with a stronger appreciation of the limitations of my ID.

Still having great fun. I figure on sticking with PVE missions and basic trading for a while. Thinking about characters. Reading a little about factions. Considering mining. PVP seems out there on the horizon for me. I still get dusted on occasion in missions . . . .

Thanks again -
