The disturbing meeting - Vitoniz30 - 10-29-2020

- Everything will be fine, - a young woman held Storgen's hand and her green eyes soothingly looked at him.

Commodore William Storgen plucked up plenty of courage to invite gallic admiral to the Omicrons. Even considering the fact of the war between Gallia and Kusari, and the admiral's importance at the frontline, commodore clearly understood the necessity of Vaillant's presence on Damascus - a subject that will be discussed is beyond of understanding limits.
Damascus Research Station is the secondary Order Overwatch settlement with scientific specialization. Not so large as Alexandria Black Site, but perfectly performs basic tasks. Besides, the station serves as a kind of Akabat's defense grid and orbital outpost, so the importance of command and battle posts is justified.

William stood beside landing platform #6 in anticipation of Admiral's arrival and was in thought. His companion, 25 years old Order scientist who joined the Order a few months ago, Sally, tried to cheer him up. Sally Wilson is not a very tall girl with a neat face, dark-brown middle-long hair, and green eyes. She was one of the closest people to William long before joining the Order, and her behavior towards commodore surprised most of agents.

At the moment, the station and its population were busy with the construction of new living modules, so everyone barely had time for idling. Add the fact of important person arrival and you'll see dozens of small tornadoes these flying across the settlement. Storgen just stood and watched the scene.

The Liner Aurora was approaching the orbit of Akabat under a solid escort of Gallic and Order vessels. Onbard the Liner, the Amiral Pierre Vaillant was relaxing in his office room "Empire". Four months of intense and relentlessly fighting against the Kusari Empire reminded him the last months of the bloody and apocalyptic Second Gallic War. But nowadays the time had changed. The war wasn't occuring far from the Gallic Worlds, but on Gallia proper. Vaillant took one glass of champagne, the only one during the whole trip, a vintage from the most reputed Champagne of Planet Orléans.

"Hm. This champagne tasted better when Orleans was still a Royalist planet, and not under the control of these Conseillards and their peasant manners..."

Shortly after, the Commandant Adrien Rebion entered in the office room after having received the authorization of the Amiral.

"Amiral, we will soon be arrived at our final destination. I also received new information from your flagship, the Venissieux in Burgundy. The report says the battleship and her cohort has positioned herself on the flanc of the Kusarian fleets and is attempting now to cut their retreat off."

"Merci Commandant. Inform the Hossegor to charge and engage the new Kusarian battleship and destroy it. Cassard must cover this offensive. If we can surround and destroy the enemy fleets, then it is a matter of time before Kusari looks for negotiations.

The Commandant left the office. Vaillant smiled. He knew he was about to win a decisive victory in Burgundy. And thus, his so desired notoriety throughout Gallia would be indisputable. But most importantly, the Duchy would be saved, preventing a whole takeover of Gallia from the Republique, something he always feared since the born of the Confederacy.

The Liner completed its docking procedure at the platform #6, where Storgen was expecting the Amiral. The ramp was slowly descending, while the guard of honor was assembling. Vaillant finally appeared, moving towards the Commordore Storgen.

Pierre threw a natural and proud glance at Storgen. "Commodore Storgen, we meet at last."

William was informed of Vaillant's arrival and he ordered to allow them to dock. Twenty minutes later airlock leaves opened, letting in the gallic passenger ship and several junior officers joined Commodore to meet Admiral.

- Commodore, may I ask a question? - Storgen heard one of his commandants voice.
- Yes, Hamilton, what's the matter?
- Do you...Do you really trust Gauls, Commodore? To my knowledge, Vaillant was a royalist and he could be involved in the civilians' genocides. Nobody knows his intentions and true purpose being in Omicrons,
- his tone was worried.
- We can't trust everyone, commandant, but admiral showed his loyalty and adequate behavior towards the nomads. Confederacy tries to keep neutrality both to us and the Core and everything points to the fact, Gauls haven't told the Core about us. But in an extreme case, we're prepared, so you have no need to worry, - Will answered calmly and glanced at Sally, - Would you stay with us?
- Yes, I would. You definitely need to be accompanied by someone smart, don't you? - she replied with a smile.

William just silently exhaled and watched the descending ramp and assembling guard, led by the man in a different uniform - admiral Pierre Vaillant, who threw a proud glance at agents. Maybe, too proud.

- Welcome to the Order and Damascus Station, admiral, - he and his agents saluted, and Storgen gave him a hand for a handshake, - Yes, we were waiting for you, and thank you for not ignoring us.

Pierre saluted Storgen and his agents respectively. The personal guard of the Amiral emerged from the Liner and completed the welcoming assembly. Several screens installed near the command post of the platform #6 had been prepared to show the two flags of Gallia and The Order when the ceremony would begin.

Vaillant answered to Storgen: -"Ignoring his allies is not in the Gallic manners, Commodore. Nevertheless, I have to say I really had to make an effort to come till this place, so far from Gallia, while I am already well occupied leading the operations against the Kusarians in Burgundy."

Pierre waved his hand to his guard, asking them to come. He then turned to Storgen. -"I would like to have my guard escorting us to the office where we could discuss properly. Do not consider this as an offense to your own soldiers, however. I have a total trust in their professionalism. But as we know, trust doesn't exclude control isn't it? "

RE: The disturbing meeting - Vitoniz30 - 11-01-2020

Storgen watched at Vaillant's guard, who looked proud and majesty standing by admiral's side, and replied:
- I do not mind, admiral Vaillant, safety is over everything. Please, follow me.
The procession headed into the station and Storgen asked everyone for stopping near section 1-B entrance, which is equipped with something vaguely resembling a metal detector. Commodore passed in and showed the rest to enter one by one. After completion he said:
- This is a standard DNA scanner. Every station or large capital ship is equipped by them to exclude even a single chance for potential infiltrators, admiral. We passed the test with success, but in case of infection..., - Storgen didn't finish his sentence, but pointed to the snipers above the corridor, and looked at the admiral with a smirk, - I have trust in your guards' professionalism, but as we know, trust doesn't exclude control, isn't it?

RE: The disturbing meeting - Val - 11-05-2020

Vaillant looked at the snipers above the corridor and cracked a small smile. He was thinking that perhaps he did well to ask for a personal escort. Having snipers ready to shoot everyone should he be suspect was really strange for his gallic values and traditions. He glanced at the Commodore,-Quite an unusual welcoming, Commodore. He closed his eyes and continued, -Is this in the Sirians' traditions to always welcome a Gallic with weapons instead of flowers or applause? Either way...

Pierre snapped and pointed to his guards. Messieurs, you have to submit yourself to this DNA test, as the Commodore Storgen requested.
All the guards passed successfully the test, eventually eliminating the possibility of an infection among them.

Vaillant looked at Storgen with a smirk -Eh bien Commodore, I believe you have a total trust in my guard now, oui?

RE: The disturbing meeting - Vitoniz30 - 11-09-2020

William watched the gauls which were passing through the scanner and nodded in approval once the last man finished the scan.
- Admiral Vaillant, you're not in the Gallia, you're not even in the Sirius, but in Omicrons - here is no place for applause and flowers when all of us are involved in the long and exhausting war, where your enemies are in shadow and small mistake may lead you to disaster. I will explain the details once we reach the combat control room.

For the few next minutes, the procession walked across the station corridors and Vaillant couldn't ignore the fact each soldier or officer, who passed by or stood near his or her workplace, saluted to Commodore with a single word "Commander". Despite his quite young age, William's rank was deserved.
Finally, they reached the room 5-G "Combat control room" that was under guard:
- Admiral, come in. Only high ranked officers have rights to enter this room.
