Personal log of Captain “JJ” of the Stormhawk. This entry may be edited later if ship systems or status changes and updates occur.
Also will be used to catalogue majority of points of interests on our journey. This first entry's purpose will be to outline the ship's purpose and abilities.

Ship details and primary mission:

The main goal of this ship is to evaluate and and attempt to better understand Nomad technology and tactics. It has the ability to conduct in depth scans of possible Nomad installations and is also charged with defending against Nomad incursions where possible, specifically outside House space where security is usually more limited. I have been patient with keeping our operations to ramp up slowly, so that we don't take on more than is necessary.

Over the next week or so, I hope to complete a shakedown cruise to work out any issues that may come up and streamline operations. I have high hopes for my team and what they are capable of.

The Stormhawk was constructed as part of the newer class of Aquilon carriers that were more recently upgraded from their former duties that were primarily cargo and light defense ships. This model has more science stations on board to host a wide array of scanning and research equipment. Unlike some Zoner vessels that are built more for defense and escort, this one was designed to be as a offensive weapon to be used mainly against the Nomads. Included for it's duties are several science labs on-board in-place of cargo storage areas, advanced containment areas to hold Nomad-type and other possible dangerous artifacts or relics. and a complex electronic warfare system to block almost any type of electromagnetic attack. It also has upgraded ablative armor plating to protect it further from heavy weapon attacks.

The also ship houses two special containment teams trained in dealing with possibly infected humans, handling of dangerous alien technology and making incursions to enemy ships. In the front half of the ship, where part of the storage and hangar area was converted to, is two separate security blocks to both act as a High security brig and to store any alien-type items to be either evaluated or held in secure lock-down until they can be transported to a safer location. Around the Containment areas and other sensitive zones are military-grade sensor dampening fields that also prevent exterior scans of the ship, to block prying eyes of what we carry onboard. This will no doubt help us keep our activities more confidential.

Team “Gatecrashers” primary role is to assist one of science teams in capturing and the safe transferring and containment of dangerous artifacts and items that we recover. Having 18 operators, they have undergone special training over the past few months in handling potentially dangerous artifacts and items and have proved adequate competence in carrying out this role.
Our other tactical squad, “The Falchion” will be tasked with protecting the ship from any intruding threat or to board hostile and abandoned stations or ships if the need were to arise. Having 9 well-trained military operators, they have a low sense of humour and are ready to go after any task.

Most of the intel and items gathered by the Stormhawk are being kept privy to Delta 4 exclusively and therefore even others among the Zoners, are unaware of what we do. I know that many organizations out there, such as the Order and Core prize their privacy so I intend to gain trust with at least one of those organizations to advance our efforts with.

For the near future, it will continue to gather intel on the Nomads and their operations and also assist in defending against their attacks.

The ship also can host a small number of fighters or bombers to support it during missions.

We plan to assist other militaries and corporations in combating the Nomads where possible. It can be notified via standard transmission outlets and contacted to assist in either scientific missions or combat-based operations specifically against the Nomads.

On more personal note, my intention is to soon be able to strike at any and all threats that may be out there, with our without our allies support. The data we initially have seems to only scratch the surface of the dangers that exist. We need to stay firm in our goal of both uncovering their secrets and eradicating the Alien threat by any means necessary. As we discussed almost from the start, more needs to be done, I am not afraid of the consequences.

October 7, 827 AS

Many months of planning and hard work were finally starting to pay off. Being called up to captain this ship was a task I felt like I was ready for, with over 6 months spent with both being trained for special deep space assignments on Freeport 9 and endless hours doing research on Corinth, I was glad to get out from behind a desk and back to space. After spending endless hours going through briefing after briefing, past mission logs of what felt like almost a hundred ships, the Stormhawk is finally ready to begin initial trials.

We spent about a week running engine and other system tests in Omicron Kappa. Waxford was working over-time getting his team on track with a number of bugs that had to be worked out with optimization our power control systems and relay system.

October 9, 827 AS
We started weapon system tests and calibration. This will be imperative to defeating our enemies quickly out there. I have charged my tactical operators to tune and adjust our offensive systems to the highest possible settings to ensure destruction of Alien craft.

Tests were executed on the barren world known as Primus. Intensive scans of the surface allowed our engineers to modify the weapon systems and targeting scanners to optimal settings. It was definitely a good choice to have the best of what we had available installed. Our shield array was also modified to resist increased amounts of radiation if we ever need to spend extended periods in a hostile environment. Also, the crew is very eager to head out further and begin operations again the Nomads, indeed we did pick a fine crew here.

October 12, 827 AS

Today, we made our way to Omicron Delta to Freeport 11. Once there we picked up a handful of personnel that were conducting surveys in the area for possible hostile contacts. Their data will no doubt be very helpful in the near future.

During this time we also confirmed Freeport 11's communication crew to supply us with any data of imminent threats against the station by potential Nomad threats so that we may respond as quickly as possible. This would be done through the use of long range sensor arrays based in the system.

After all this, we were fairly well set to head out and conduct operations. Only a few minor bugs exist in our system that hopefully we can work through soon, but I font want to spend anymore downtime than whats needed.

On another note, I reached out beforehand to our contacts to check what would be the viability to install a Jumpdrive system onboard the ship. This will allow us to move around very quickly and respond to emergencies where possible. Kaplain has informed me of a Zoner group based in Liberty that can help us, so I will be reaching out to them very soon to see what we can do.

As soon as my crew is assured that we can operate safely, I am eager to get out there and see what kind of difference we can make. I imagine there are many threats out there that wreak havoc across the Edge worlds and in the past few weeks, we have started receiving requests from other Freeports to check on situations in their vicinity.

I am tired of being told that we cant do it, or thats too hard or it will take too long. The Nomads are a massive threat to every human in Sirius. It is no longer about who works with who. We all must be together in this. Both myself and my crew are determined to do whatever it takes to defend humanity.

October 25th, 827 AS

Well, I have wanted to get some time to make a report for several days and finally I had some downtime. With our shakedown complete and everything in tip-top shape, we will now begin to move towards reports of enemy activity to investigate what we can.

First things first, several days ago we contacted a Zoner group known as the Genesis Research Group. They are based out of Pennsylvania and we managed to purchase and have installed a Jump Drive. It took a few days to properly setup and calibrate it to our power systems but they have become more module in recent years so adapting it was easy for my engineering team.

November 2, 827 AS

Looks like we are spending a few days off, moored up at the Liberty Universal base in Magellan. Delivery of the Jump Drive was taken there and they are quite accommodating to us during our downtime, hopefully things don't take too long. This has also helped us find a power transfer issue in our auxiliary power system that was easily corrected.

It is a nice change being back near Liberty again, bring back memories. I did fly a handful of patrols in this area so I know my way around it quite well, maybe some parts further out are working looking at later.

November 12, 827 AS

Well, today was quite the eventful day. Almost 2 days after our refit in Magellan was completed, we received a emergency comm from Omicron Delta of being under assault by a Nomad strike force. This caused for a viable test of newly installed Jump Drive. We made a successful jump back to Delta and engaged the enemy ships.

Fortunately we managed to get there in time and help to defeat the intruders, keeping the Freeport safe and other nearby bases from assault. The force we helped to defeat was not large so I imagine this may just be the start of something more. Reports received from surrounding systems have made it clear that their attacks have been getting more bold lately so we must remain vigilant. On a more positive note, we also managed to drag in some shreds of remains of the ships we destroyed. This was hard to do correctly, so I am going to order Waxford and his team to come up with some more efficient ways of grabbing any sort of alien junk we come across, if possible.

This major victory caused a substantial boost to morale among the crew, one of the first of many victories I hope.

Even in this short amount of time, I have seen first hand what the Nomad are openly capable of. In my time with Liberty I saw very little action against them, but the threat we face, especially beyond House borders is much more severe and its my opinion that if we do not strike them beyond the major territories, they may be able to cause extensive destruction in more populated areas. After our first few skirmishes with the Nomads, the majority of my crew has even stronger conviction of our mission.

November 29, 827 AS

Since a few days ago at my request, my Ops Officer who had spent some time with the IMG, had been taking some time during his off-hours to establish contact with some old friends back in the Tau sector. He called in some favours to get us a reliable contact somewhere in that area to work as a informant to alert us of any possible Nomad activity in that area.

He managed to make contact with a friend of the Operations chief at Holman outpost, in Tau 31. After some brief negotiations, and a promise of moderate compensation, he agreed to send us any information that we stipulated would be important to us. Although Nomad activity in Tau has not been high, having extra ears around never hurts.

December 5, 827 AS

We ran into a engine problem today, had to stop the ship out in middle of no-where, while en-route back towards the Omicrons. I had a stern look at myself today to make sure I know what I'm doing here. Many I used to associate with would think I am pressing my chances, but I know that we can - we must - not back down. Every effort must be put forward to do what must be done. The Nomads cannot be allowed to advance anymore. My intention is to expand our sensor and all detection systems to scan for any type of possible Nomad-infected vessel as well, if it all possible.

December 15, 827 AS

Things have been going well, for the most part. Initial runs throughout systems such as Omicron Kappa and Theta have shown little evidence of nomad activity of late. One of the assistant leads of my science teams suggested we venture into the Omega 55 area as there have been reports of strange ships there in the past.

In the meanwhile, we are about to take delivery of another piece of very valuable equipment that, with the help of gaining some allies, will let us draw in reinforcements from long distances with the use of a Hyperspace matrix beacon system. This was also achieved by the assistance of the Genesis Research Group again, their knack for developing and constructing such advanced hardware has gone far in making the Stormhawk a very advanced warship.

Also, my Helms-Lady informed me that a unknown person attempted to bribe her away from my crew. She said that she no interest at all in leaving and when she tried to find more information on the person in question, they made themselves apparently impossible to find using some complex encryption system. This is curious to say the least, but perhaps I will follow up on this later as we have more pressing concerns for now.

December 28th, 827 AS

Yesterday we departed for Omega 55. The second in command of the team, designated to handle Alien items had heard in the past of suspicious contacts near the Omega 55 system. She spent some time here prior to joining Delta 4 and the crew of the Stormhawk.

Although I would prefer to peruse more of the Omicrons, this claim about Omega 55 has more substantiated facts. We dropped by the local Junkers base there to ask for any information they would be willing to offer us. Of course, everything is for a price, but what they did tell us was worth looking into. I sure hope this isn't a waste of time.

December 31st, 827 AS

I directed the ship to enter the asteroid field known as Ferner. Some time after we began the survey, we came under attack by several smaller ships, mainly fighter class and a handle of extremely hostile freighter ships. They were not interested in talking and did not identify under any known group. We spent the next several hours defending ourselves and collecting any samples of destroyed ships into our cargo hold.

What we saw at this point put my science teams into quite the frenzy, as they noticed evidence of what likely seems to be Alien technology. This was one of our first major discoveries since we begin our mission. I look forward to hearing about their findings soon.

January 12, 828 AS

The last few weeks have been more of a buzz ever since our excursion into Omega 55. As much as I wanted to stay around there longer, things were getting too rough in the asteroid field for us. Now we turn our eyes to a place we know there was much Nomad activity, Omicron Minor.

Starting today and continuing over the next 3 or 4 days we will be moving through Minor and attempt to survey and scan as much as we can. This will hopefully give us a better insight into Nomad tactics and maybe we can even salvage something of worth to gain more information on them.

So far most of what we have is dead Order and Core ships, with not much to go on yet, but there is still much to see. The brutality of what happened here was possibly one of the worst catastrophes to happen to the Order in their history. I want to get a good look at the surface of Toledo as best as our sensors will allow. Hopefully the mistakes of the past will help us adapt in the future.

The loss of Toledo and combined with the many ships lost in the battle shows even more importantly of the threat we face. Both myself and my crew found it difficult to see so much destruction here, but despite all of that, it was necessary to see all of it so that we are able to face the alien terror head on. The enemy knows that fear is a powerful weapon, but that is something we cannot allow them to have over us. We will stay strong and do what must be done to protect ourselves.

January 30, 828 AS

The Stormhawk returned to Freeport 9 several days ago to procure a Cloaking system that was purchased for us, as thanks to our Colonel Kaplain that handles a lot of the back-end logistics for us from there. It was installed by a private contractor that operates mainly in the Omicrons, more than that I was not told, the group likes their privacy quite a lot it seems.

The Cloaking device is not as highly advanced perhaps as some military-grade ones I am told, but it has been tested and is fully operational. Waxford has assured me that it is fully integrated with our power systems and shouldn't cause any issue. A lot of the crew were excited to have such a advanced piece of hardware onboard, considering that most had never seen one in operation yet. This will no doubt help us to get past certain areas that are otherwise unable to access easily, or...to use against our enemies.

February 8, 828 AS

I wanted to make this log as soon as it was possible as I can hardly contain my excitement.

While moving through Omicron Zeta, we received a distress call from a Order vessel that was under assault by Nomad forces. A Nomad heavy assault cruiser was trying to destroy light cruiser on a patrol run. I ordered the Stormhawk to intercept immediately.

I imagined this would be a excellent chance to test out how good our cloaking system really was and ordered to activate it as we made our approach.

As we moved into close range of the Nomad ship, it did not seem to react to us at all, hinting at the fact it didn't know we were there and continued its attack. Instructing to get right up nearly on top of it, the cloak system was then shut down and all weapons were fired at the Nomad ship. I must say the ship seemed almost as surprised as we were, they attempted to make maneuvers to evade our attacks but it was too late, we promptly obliterated it before it could withdraw.

The Order ship thanked us heavily for the assistance and being heavily damaged moved off back to it's base I assumed. In the moments to follow I asked to make a good scan of the area for anything of interest and what do you know, we seemed to have found some sort of Nomad device left over from the wreckage.

After carefully drawing it in to our cargo hold, my science team, assisted by Gatecrashers locked it down in one of our maximum level containment cells. With something of such high value and possibly volatile, I wasn't taking any chances. As much as I would like to take a look at it right away, It will need to be moved to a better place to conduct research on. I intend to contact Colonel Kaplain and see what he thinks of what we found at Corinth for analysis.

March 4, 828 AS

From the recommendation of my tactical team and ops chief, I will be developing a number of coded and covert callsigns and have them train the crew in the event of ship emergencies and in case enemy ships may be monitoring our transmissions. This should help us stay safer and prevent subterfuge against us.

March 16, 828 AS

The last week have been strangely quiet in most areas, minor skirmishes here and there, not worth to report them. With it being many months since any downtime, I approved a request from my crew to stop by Curacao for some leave.

With some of the crew never being away from a planet or station for so long, the stress was starting to show. We plan to hold up here for almost a week I imagine until we redeploy back to the Edge worlds again. This should be a welcome sight compared to all that we have seen lately.

March 26, 828 AS

We have continued to probe the edges of known Nomad territory to stay appraised of their activities and have kept updated of research ongoing by our people. In our attempt to develop new tactics to combat the Nomads, it appears we have starting to have success in halting their attacks more often than before. I have also been trying to reach out to the major forces operating in the Edge worlds, primarily the Order, so that a friendly network may be established to combat our common foe.

2 days ago we met up briefly with a small Order fleet on patrol around Omicron Zeta. We did encounter a pair of Nomad assault ships attempting to retreat into a asteroid field but managed to stop them before they could escape. The fight was brief and we disposed of them quickly.

In addition to this, we recovered from the destroyed vessel what does appear to be according to my scientists, some sort of “fuel device” from the wreckage. Once again this will be moved to Corinth for a deeper look and I am also hoping to explore routes in which we can make use of such devices in our favour as well. I imagine that others have attempted to adapt Nomad technology for their own use so I intend to do the same, using all available tools at our disposal should always be a option. This will include making more requests of our team at Corinth which I know they are up for.

March 30, 828 AS

Our top notch team at Corinth has made some amazing discoveries in these past weeks, with our sending some recovered alien devices to them to explore. The team has been getting a good look at how they operate and has made some amazing progress over the past 2 months. I have ordered this from a while ago to explore ways to better understand their technology and possibly use it against them. I have high hopes for the near future.

According to my science team on-board which has been in close contact with them, we managed to capture a live Nomad Powercell as well as some sort of “Fuel device” as they describe it. Apparently a way to contain some sort of exotic fuel to be used for some purpose, and still seems to be both operational and still has the majority of it's fuel still intact. So far, they were able to somewhat contain their power fluctuations and are working to potentially adapt them to our own systems in some way.

April 4, 828 AS

A important communication came in today from our contact at Holman. He has been hearing rumors of strange vessels showing up in Coronado and Inverness from ships arriving at Holman from that area. I have never been to either of those systems but I do know that the Zoners hold a base in Inverness. As we have nothing else planned for the time being, I plan to divert the Stormhawk in that direction soon.

I am eager to see some activity soon.

April 6, 828 AS

We were hungry for action and we finally got it.

As we began a survey of the Omicron Nu system, we were called for assistance to the local Zoner base present in the system. They were being harassed by a small force and were unable to push them back on their own. To this end, I directed our ship to them quickly to assist.

Upon arrival, they were under attack by a number of Nomad ships and other vessels that were not Nomad in nature but were still assaulting the base. We promptly attacked and destroyed what we could, while other close defense ships assisted. Shortly after, the command crew of the station, Rarotonga Dock, suggested we search in another sector for more contacts, as unknown signals were being detected near a asteroid field.

Advancing to that area, we at first did not see very much, but was detecting odd signatures and continued looking. All of a sudden, several Nomad ships decloaked right near us began a attack on us. We were able to destroy some of them but more were headed into the area and we had to fall back as some of our engine and shield systems were damaged.

This was one of the first times we have had to retreat from a assault, but also shows our limits and not to cross them. In the coming months, I hope that the engineering team can explore new routes to better protect our systems.

April 10, 828 AS

Going off a lead we got not long ago, we are following up with a suggestion to explore the Coronado system and possibly Inverness. Two days ago we entered Coronado and was able to make a brief survey. We were contacted by Crayter patrols in the area and advised that although we permitted to be there, that we are not allowed to approach certain areas without special authorization.

We did find traces of potential alien signatures in the area but nothing concrete, I will order the Stormhawk to proceed over to Inverness by tomorrow.

April 12, 828 AS
Today we arrived at Inverness and reported in at Freeport 14. These people have had quite the journey over the last year. Apparently they were in the Alberta system that was being overrun by the Dark Matter storm that was warned about since 826 AS. With the assistance of the Carrier Tarrafal, the Freeport was moved into Inverness and they have set up shop there. It is a little different operation than what most Freeports do but they are survivors and are doing everything they can.

Upon asking the local Zoners about any strange contacts, they didn't inform us of designs that sounded quite Alien, ships appearing out of no-where, shooting down escort ships then vanishing again. This prompted a response for us to see if we could find anything.

We moved to the eastern side of the system, and after another hour of scanning, came under assault by Nomad vessels. The fight was short but additional damage was made against some parts of the ship, and therefore was recommended to me that we put in for at least some brief repairs. It has been suggested to return home to Kappa to get a work up.

This marks twice now within a week that we have come under attack, showing that the Nomads may be enhancing their push against us. It also suggests that they may have a way of operating beyond the Edge Worlds.

April 16, 828 AS

We returned to Theta using our Jump Drive, so as to make repairs as soon as possible. Now I am being told that Livadia cannot service us right now, and we would need to wait. Therefore I will sending the ship to moor up at Freeport 9 so that we can at least begin minor repairs and get deployed again soon. I don't want much wait time on getting back out there. Recent events have shown that we need to remain vigilant, or the consequences could be dire.

April 18, 828 AS

It was tough getting back to Freeport 9, but we made it. I decided to head back there quickly so that nothing else would happen on the way.

Projections from Waxford show that this may take just 2 or 3 days but likely may take more, since we have not spent any time for repairs since we launched.

On another note, one of the science teams onboard has expressed interest in possible boosts to our power system. Although I am skeptical of further improvements based on how the ship is setup, it does sound quite interesting. Some have began to explore other power-sources, mainly a item called Thorium MOX. I am not a engineer, but what I do know is that most reactors run on normal MOX including, and Thorium is usually used for mega-reactors and systems that need massive amounts of power such as land installations and colony vessels. I will stay updated on any progress they make.

April 19, 828 AS

Having some time off at Freeport 9 has given us time to get better organized with the logistics side.

I had a long chat today with the team at Corinth and they continue to make good progress on research, we have been receiving considerable useful data on them on both the funcitoning of Nomad technology and they continue to explore ways to possibly adapt it into our technology. I am very eager to see their progress in the near future.

April 21, 828 AS

I spent many hours through the day today going over with my command crew and some department heads over some new alert system codes and status levels. These will be used for a quicker change to other status for our ship. My hope it to adapt and integrate them very soon. I will order some trial runs and training sims to use the new code system.
We already do use Alert condition Grey, for the activate of the Matrix beacon and Alert status Black for the prepping of the Jump Drive to be used.
In addition to this, Alert Status Zeta will be used if a suspected Nomad vessel is in the vicinity. We will also work on a newer Alert status being Epsilon. This will be used to as part of our ongoing effort to effect the destruction of possible infected vessels in the area, So far, Epsilon 7 is being worked on to divest covertly that a possible hostile ship is in the area and may be eavesdropping on our communications. Epsilon 10 will be used in the event of a response to a ship under assault by a unknown force and will be moved to engage.

The last one is Epsilon 11. I have spoken at length with both my bridge crew and Colonel Kaplain about this. I decided to not include such a report previously until we are sure that this could be implemented properly and must all be in agreement to conduct the action necessary. In the event of invoking Epsilon 11, the Stormhawk will, to the best of it's ability, move to assault and destroy either a Nomad vessel or a suspected infected vessel in the area. We will proceed to any lengths to ensure it's termination. This does include ignoring requests from other vessels to withdraw or hold position for further analysis. This would primarily be used in extreme circumstances, in which we may not be able to rely on nearby allies to assist or if there is a imminent threat to a populated area. For the time being though, we will not be using this Status until we receive more data our enemy.

It seems our repairs are complete now, just tying up a few loose ends before we depart and taking on a resupply of goods.

Yesterday I got a message forwarded from Freeport 1 that the Kepler system has been re-opened by the local authorities. This is surprising to say the least. Last I heard about Kepler, the whole system was locked down to protect the area from the Dark Matter storm that was colliding with it.

Back when I was ran patrols for the Navy, I did spend some time in Colorado where I learned a little about Kepler, but never had the chance to go there. Since we have had some downtime to review our scientific goals, combined with the fact of some possible unique discoveries that may be waiting there, I will direct the Stormhawk on a assignment into that area. I wouldn't mind visiting the local Zoner base still operating there during all this time. I look forward to our findings.
