I have never been able to save/reload my characters. Whenever I restart, I lose everything. This time it would be my Bustard and Corvo. I do back up my accounts, but that never seems to work for me.

The discovery launcher deletes the saves every time it runs. Your local server is gonna be way more flexible anyways.
